Pullet Surprise

I was raised by two loving, nurturing, and instructive parents. Mom encouraged us in the arts, reading, prose, and education, and Dad, in hard work, integrity, and sports....My Dad had me shooting by age 4, carefully, and patiently instructing each step of the way, improving my safety and accuracy.....All Dad's Army buddies would come over on Saturdays', and we would have rifle matches...I grew up with rifles and shotguns, and hunting and fishing was a way of life....I absorbed every word of the great writers of my day...Robert Roarke, Jack O'Conner, Elmer Keith...Not on my mother's best writer's list, but "The Old Man and the Boy", seemed to parallel my life...I got my education, joined the Army, came home, married, and had two fine sons.....I never knew the true love my Dad had for me, until I had my four year old, on my lap, teaching him the proper way to squeeze the trigger..with the same .22 single shot I had learned on...I am now retired, and hunt, fish, or shoot, everyday.
