Programming Flowchart?
Write an algorithm (pseudocode and flowchart) to solve the following problem: A bank account starts out with RM10000. Interest is compounded monthly at 6% per year (0.5% per month). Every month, RM800 is withdrawn to meet college expenses. After how many years is the account depleted?
I'm confused. I know that to calculate interest it is M = P(1 + i )^n
and every month you just - 800 and use the formula with that value, but i just can't figure out a flowchart for it. Any help would be appreciated.
1 AnswerProgramming & Design8 years agoA question regarding fluid mechanics and bulk modulus.?
A sound wave is observed to travel through a liquid with a speed of 1500 m/s. The specific gravity of the liquid s 1.5. Determine the bulk modulus for this fluid.
What i did.
1.Calulated density using the specific gravity formula. Got density of the fluid equating to 1500 kg/m^3.
2. Used formula
c= square root of (Ev/ density)
and got 3.375 *10^9 N/m^2
But this seems somewhat wrong. Any help would be appreciated
1 AnswerEngineering8 years agoCentroid for a Simple Distributed Loading?
How do i find out the centroid for a triangle that is attached to a rectangle in a simple distribution loading. When calculating the moment, the centroid is either 2/3 or 1/3 of the distance. How do i know which one it is for sure?
http://www.slideshare.net/jaredcalhoun/statics-cha...
The questions at the very end for example like 4-146 uses 2/3 for the first triangle but 1/3 for the second half.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
1 AnswerEngineering9 years agoSynchronous Question?
A 300 MVA, 30 kV, 3-phase, steam-turbine generators delivers its rated output at unity power factor. The generator has a synchronous reactance of 1.5 pu and a transient reactance of 0.25 pu.
a. Why is the stator of synchronous generator always connected in wye?
b. State the main differences between the above generators and salient-pole generators. For a given power output, which of these machines is larger?
c. If a short circuit suddenly occurs on the connecting transmission line of the above generator, close to the generating station,
calculate
1) the induced voltage, E0, prior to the short circuit
2) the initial value of the short-circuit current
3) the final value of the short-circuit current if the circuit breaker should fail to open
1 AnswerEngineering9 years agoWound Rotor Induction Question?
A 3-phase wound-rotor induction motor has a rating of 150 hp, 2760 r/min, 2.3 kV 50 Hz, and its rotor is connected in Y. The motor is used for driving a belt conveyor. The nominal open-circuit voltage between the motor slip rings is 520 V.
a. Calculate the rotor winding resistance per phase.
b. Knowing that the line voltage is 2.4 kV, while the motor have to deliver 40 hp at a speed of 610 r/min, determine
i. the resistance per phase that must be placed in series with the rotor
ii. the current in the rotor.
c. Evaluate the rotor speed and rotor current when the belt conveyor load increases at constant torque and rotor induced voltage.
1 AnswerEngineering9 years agoThree Phase Induction Motor?
A 3-phase induction motor having synchronous speed of 1500 r/min draws 60 kW from a 3-phase feeder. The copper losses and iron losses in the stator amount to 4 kW. The motor runs at 1422 r/min. Calculate
a. The active power transmitted to the rotor
b. The rotor I2R losses
c. The mechanical power developed
d. The mechanical power delivered to the load, knowing that the windage and friction losses are equal to 3 kW
e. The efficiency of the motor
f. How many poles does the motor have?
g. If the motor runs at the lower rotational speed, will the efficiency become lower? Justify your answer.

2 AnswersEngineering9 years agoTransfomers Questions! Please help.?
A transformer has the nameplate of 50 kVA, 480 V/120 V.
a. Determine the maximum rating current in HV and LV coils of the transformer.
b. If the HV side is connected to a 300-V ac generator, what is the maximum rating real power of load that can be connected to LV side in case of
i. The load is resistive
ii. The load power factor is 0.90
c. If the HV side is connected to a 200-V ac generator and a load connected in LV consumes 24 kVA. Is the transformer overloaded? Justify your answer.
