Does a brown sludge in the coolant overflow always mean a blown head gasket?
I am flushing the entire system this weekend. The car drives just fine, all the gauges read as they should. There is no white smoke. This is a Chevy Camaro 3.8L with 91k miles. The oil dipstick looks perfect, not milky or anything. So I'm hoping it's not a blown head. But, the coolant overflow dipstick looks like oil, but I'm not completely sure. I just bought the car yesterday. The guy said that the coolant hasn't been changed in 2 years, so it could just be nasty and needs to be flushed. He said that DEXcool was in it from the factory, but he flushed it and put this green coolant in it. And when he flushed it he might not have gotten all the DEXcool completely out, which could be causing this. The actual coolant in the radiator cap looks good, green as can be. I heard this is a good sign. Is there a possiblilty its not a blown head? Like I said the car runs like a dream

Okay so I know I need to flush my coolant system, I'm doing that this weekend. I have a 2001 Camaro 3.8L v6 with 92k miles. The car does not overheat, all the gauges look good, the car drives smooth. The oil dipstick has no signs of coolant, looks perfect. But, when I pulled out the coolant dipstick, I see this. Some say it is oil and is a blown head gasket, but the car doesn't overheat and no white smoke. Others are saying its GM's DEXcool and that it just needs to be flushed. The coolant in the actual radiator cap looks good, green as normal. I just bought this car yesterday, and idiotically forgot to check the coolant dipstick as most cars don't have them. I texted the previous owner and asked him what was up with it. He said that it hasn't been changed in 2 years and is just dirty or could be from when he switched it from DEXcool to the new coolant and didn't get all of the DEXcool out. What do you guys think it is?
