How can I build up endurance?
I can't run due to bad (arthritic) knees, and I also have a slipped disc in my lower back, so I'm careful with what kind of exercises I do, and to top it off I have asthma (yeah, I'm a mess). I do a lot of cardio (I can do 45 minutes no problem on the elliptical, at level 10), but I get out of breath very quickly doing other things.
I know part of my problem (if not the entire problem) is that I don't breathe properly except for when I'm working out, but I'm not really how to train myself to breathe properly (I also have year-round allergies, so I'm usually stuffed up, so that doesn't help at all).
As more background, I also lift weights and I've been working on my core as much as possible. I go to the gym 4-6 times a week, so it's not like I'm lazy. ...well, I'm lazy, but I'm trying to get in shape.
1 AnswerDiet & Fitness8 years ago80's post-apocalyptic TV movie?
I can't remember the name...it takes place in the future after some kind of nuclear or biological disaster. There's a protected city, and everyone gets gem-like implants in their foreheads, which shows who they can mate with...anyone remember it?
4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoconnecting a PC to a sound system receiver?
I'm trying to pump music from my PC to my receiver, so I don't have to watch videos on my PC with headphones on. I picked up a 3.5mm to RCA cable at a local store, but when I try them it puts out a humming sound. Anyone have any recommendations? My PC only has onboard sound, without an optical out (only the 3.5mm plugs for mic/speakers). Any recommendations?
1 AnswerHome Theater1 decade agoMotherboard recommendations?
I'm putting together some specs for a PC I'll be building soon, and I could use some recommendations on a good mobo. Here's the rest of the specs i'm going with:
Core 2 Quad Q6600
Kingston 2GB DDR2
WD Raptor 150GB
GeForce 9600GT (probably eVGA brand)
I'm not going SLI right now (or Vista), but I would like to leave dual-SLI and Vista open for consideration down the road. This will be for gaming primarily, so keep that in mind. Thanks everyone.
PS. I need specific mobo recommendations, not "Intel", or "eVGA", etc, I need part numbers or specific models only, please! Thanks.
PPS. Also, please try to keep it around $250 or less, so I can actually afford it!
7 AnswersAdd-ons1 decade agoWhen running, I get out of breath after a couple minutes?
Oddly enough though, I could be going for 45 minutes at a very similar pace (with a decently high resistance) on an elliptical, and be fine. It seems to be from the bouncing up and down when running, because it's harder to keep my breathing even when running, but I'm not sure what I can do that.
