I've recently been diagnosed with BPD, though I've known in the back of my mind for a few years now. I don't know what to do because I'm in a relationship with someone I love very much. No matter how much I try, or read, or research about the proper ways to handle BPD in relationships, I keep freaking out. I'm starting therapy soon, so hopefully that will help. However, I don't know how long I can go on like this. It's like me and my BPD are two different beings in one body, one brain. I don't want it to control me anymore. Every article I read about coping with relationships and BPD all say stuff about how the relationships never last, marriages end in divorce, and basically how the borderline is a manipulative abusive jerk. This isn't true! I'm a nice person, with good intentions and a big heart. I just also have a brain that misfires sometimes (a lot of the time). I'm losing hope very quickly. If anyone has any suggestions or coping mechanisms that my boyfriend and I can do together, I would really appreciate it.
