  • Is there any hope of getting rid of this GameVance virus?

My brother unwittingly downloaded GameVance from somewhere. I've read about GameVance causing tons of pop-up's and unwanted ads, but something it taking over my computer. Random Window's Security balloons keep popping up on my taskbar, asking if I want to run my antivirus program. Clicking on it only opens something that claims to be a Windows Antivirus that doesn't exist- our system's antivirus program is avast! I keep running scans on the entire computer but it keeps coming up clean.

I've tried to delete the program, but my computer is completely hijacked. The virus is actually preventing me from opening certain programs, including Add/Remove Programs in the control panel. It is also preventing me from installing programs like avg and Window's Malicious Software Removal Tool by claiming it's infected.

If it were as simple as removing the program I would, but I can't get into any of my settings. I am almost 100% sure that GameVance is the cause since it was the last thing downloaded onto my computer as of last night when these problems began.

I'd reallllly like to fix this myself if possible, or at least get to some of my files before getting the entire thing wiped. Any suggestions are HUGELY appreciated.

  • What to do for an Ear infection and terrible earache?

I have a serious ear infection, from what my doctor says. I've taken the antibiotics, and twice the normal dosage of the pain medication she gave me to help with the pain, but I still have severe pain in my ear. It was in the opposite ear last night, and after taking two doses of the same pain meds it went away. This time it's just not going away and obviously its very painful. I bought a medicated ear plug that's supposed to have these organic things to ease the pain but still no relief? What else can I try? I'd really like to not have to leave home again.

  • Someone hacked into my Gmail- what do I do?

I check my inbox obsessively. Well, all of my inbox messages had been moved to the trash and messages had been sent from my account saying that two women I do not know at all (people I had sold/bought stuff from Craigslist) were whores. I'm greatly embarrased. Luckily my emails were not deleted permanantly and I apologized profusely to the two ladies... changed my password and security question.

I just want to make sure there's nothing I haven't done yet. I'd hate for this to happen again.

  • How can I delete corrupt data from my PS2 8MB memory card?

So, I've been playing FFXII for a while now. 114 hours, to be exact. I'm right at the end of the story basically. Lately, due to a family situation, I've been spending a lot of time at my boyfriend's house. So, we copied my file to his memory card so that I'd be able to play while I was over there.

That night, after he had copied my file, I tried to play my game at home using my memory card. The game starts up, I open the Load Screen, and it says it can't read my memory card. So I check on the browser, and a file (not the file I'd been using, thank goodness) is missing and now there's this block of corrupted data of an unidentified size. And I can't delete it.

I checked it and all of the other files for other games still work. It's just Final Fantasy XII, which leads me to believe that one of the files has now become this corrupted data.

Is there anyway to delete it? Or will I have to buy a new memory card just to play FFXII?
