  • How do I do a clean install of xp?

    I just built my first computer. I am having trouble, however, loading my xp software.

    I put the xp cd in the drive(IDE) and booted up the pc. The drive spins the cd and then my A drive beeps like it wants a floppy disk. Then the same error pops up. (fail to load from disk, insert another disk). I tried all 3 xp disks that came in the set and none of them worked. FYI my HD is a SATA drive.

    Any advice?

  • Help! I cannot perform a clean doowload of xp on my new home built PC.?

    2 weeks ago I decided to build my first computer. I ordered all the parts and built the computer. I am now having trouble with installing the xp os. It is a 3 disk publisher version. The computer boots up fine and I am able to go into the

    BIOS. I selected boot from cdrom, saved it, and rebooted. However when the

    computer tries to boot from the cd, it reads that there is a failure to read.

    FYI: I'm using a SATA hard drive and a SATA CD-DVD Rom. In the CMOS menu, the

    hard drive and cdrom are both listed-so i think the cdrom is recognized by the

    computer. I've looked everywhere online and I have found nothing that has

    helped. Please help so I can actually run my $600 machine instead of using it as

    a paper weight.
