I'm seventeen and I've never worn makeup before. I never tried it before because I was never interested. Now I am and I'm not sure if I should. It's just that my family are all like "you don't need makeup. You look fine without it!" and blah blah blah. I'm not saying I disagree, i do look fine without it. I just want to wear light makeup to cover up my discolorations (if makeup even does that...I don't know! I'm so dumb when it comes to this stuff!) So what do you guys think? If you think I should, what kind of stuff am I supposed to buy?

I was doing this problem here using elimination method:

1/3 x-1/9 y=10

2/3 x+1/2 y=6

I got x = 306/13 which is correct for that part. But I keep getting -252 for 'y.' I find myself stuck at the end which is when I reach "37= -756/13" and I don't know what to do from here. I know the answer is really -252/13 but I'm not sure how to get to that answer. Please help. I really appreciate it.

My father is a control freak and has been since as long as I have been living. He controls every part of my life as well as my mother's and siblings. He won't let my mother do anything and he won't even let her get a job. My mother has to do everything he says without any questions, like some servant. If she doesn't listen he would either yell at her for hours or hurt her. He won't let her do ANYTHING at all. He always insulting her, as well as my siblings and I and always putting us down. He makes us feel badly about ourselves and he's already mentally scarred me. I'm afraid that my youngest siblings are scarred too. Whenever we hear him coming, we get scared and grow quiet. Whenever we see him our hearts start pounding. I always get scared when he tells me to come see him. He shouts at us a lot and hits us from time to time when we do things wrong. Several times he leaves bruises on us and I'm starting to wonder if he really cares about us or not! If so he's got a really sick way of showing it...

My father doesn't have any friends, doesn't like other people, doesn't talk to relatives, abusive husband to my mother, and is obsessed with respect. My mother said to me that she plans on leaving him but it's been months and she hasn't done not one thing yet! Why won't my mom leave him already????

My father also planned out my siblings and my future. He told us where we go to college at and what we would major in. Plus he said that he won't let us move out of his house until he says so and doesn't care how old we are. I'm afraid I'll still be here when I am 30!

We live in a secluded area and i have no one to go to for help. I'm afraid to ask for help from anyone because my father will surely hurt me. Please help me!

I'm 17 and I really want braces. My top teeth are pretty straight but my bottom teeth aren't looking so good. Also there's a small gap between my top and bottom teeth. I hate to smile with my teeth because they don't touch. So how much does it cost to get braces (the silver, metal ones)? Thanks.

I'm really afraid of talking to people and socializing. I grew up (still am) in like seclusion so I never got to talk to people much and never made any friends. Whenever someone (stranger) speaks to me, I get flustered and fumble my words. Is there a possible way to get over this fear? Is there like a socializing club I can join or something?

First off, I failed my behind the wheel driver's test twice. The second time I didn’t give the right of way to another car and nearly got in a car wreck. The examinar failed me and my dad was really upset. He spanked me with the belt hard when we got home and called me all sorts of awful names. He also punched me in certain places (not my face), pulled my hair, and slapped me several times. I’m 17 years old. I'm really scared! My dad said he'll beat me harder next time and drag me around the floor by my hair! I'm so terrified and I keep crying about it! I feel I don't want to drive anymore and get my license. It's worse that I have to practice with him while he's shouting insults in the back seat. Did I really deserve this? What should I do?!?

First off I am 17 and my sister is 8. I love her and I give her kisses on the cheeks everyday but she dislikes it. Every time when I kiss her she calls me stupid. Last night, for the first time, she said I was a bad big sister. That hurt me a little. I was always trying hard to be a good big sister. Does my sister really mean that? Am I a bad big sister for kissing her all the time?

Is it wrong to like an 11 year old boy? I don't plan on getting in a relationship with him or anything like that. I just want to know if it is wrong to just LIKE him?

I want to teach myself how to play the piano. I heard that some people taught them self how to play. So is there anything I should know before I start teaching myself? Any basics?

This is probably a stupid question...but it's true.

I am scared to talk to people/strangers in public. I mean I can talk them but only if they ask me a question or if I am ordering food. But other than that I am completely terrified. I can't even have a conversation with anyone and I can't make friends. Even if I could make friends, I cannot because I live in a desert away from people. I guess it's because I have been living alone with my family for so long I never got a chance to socialize. I also never been to a public school. I go to an online school...

Please help me get rid of this fear! Help me!

Propose a design for another experiment that tests moth phenotypes in a forest where there are no predators. The limiting factor is food availability for caterpillars (baby moths) and caterpillars with larger mouthparts are able to obtain food faster. What data would researchers take in this experiment to show how natural selection affects the moth populations.
