  • Simple Harmonic Motion Question...?

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to find the spring constant with these givens...

A 50g mass vibrates in SHM at the end of a spring. The amplitude of the motion is 12 cm and the period is 1.70s. I found the frequency to be 0.59 Hz. How do I determine the spring constant?

  • Help with independent, dependent, and controlled variables?

I did a lab that tests whether or not movement in cold temperatures causes body heat to decrease quicker. Here is my procedure:

    1. Attach a temperature probe to a metal stand.

    2. Fill a blue plastic container with 0°C ice.

    3. Fill a 200mL beaker with water, and heat it until it is body temperature (37°C).

    4. Place the beaker into the ice-filled container, placing the temperature probe in the beaker.

    5. Record the temperature at minute intervals in a data table, until approximate death by hypothermia is reached (26°C).

    6. Re-fill the blue plastic container with 0°C ice.

    7. Re-fill the 200mL beaker with water, and heat it until it is body temperature (37°C).

    8. Place the beaker into the ice-filled container, placing the temperature probe in the beaker.

    9. While consistently stirring the water inside the beaker with a stirring rod, record the temperature at minute intervals in a data table, until approximate death by hypothermia is reached (26°C).

    10. Clean up your materials.

however, i am not sure what my variables would be for this?! (especially my independent variable!!)

  • How is this for the introduction to my essay arguing if Napoleon Bonaparte is good or bad?

No historic leader is purely honourable or purely inadequate. Napoleon was a charismatic leader. In other words his vision required great change in the world itself. As the ruler of France, and at one point, most of Europe, he had more power than almost any person in history. During the time he ruled, he was an inspiration of both admiration and terror. Although he was an ambitious and at times brutal general, Napoleon brought many positive changes to a lot of countries (p.94). Napoleon Bonaparte was, in no doubt, a paramount ruler. He had great control and leadership as Emperor of France, incomparable skills as a general, and created a legacy that still operates in many countries to this very day.

  • which quote should i start off my persuasive essay about self discovery with?

Most people struggle with life balance simply because they haven't paid the price to decide what is really important to them.

    -- Stephen Covey

The aim of life is self-development. To realize one's nature perfectly - that is what each of us is here for.

    -- Oscar Wilde

The process of self-development can be described as the stripping away of layer after layer of all that is false.

    -- The Daily Guru

There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self.

    --Aldous Huxley

  • Help me with my persuasive essay introduction? :)?

this is all of my intro besides my opening sentence which is what i need help on. my essay is a persuasive essay based on the book "City of Bones" by Cassandra Clare. My topic is how the protagonist develops throughout the novel. i was looking into opening with a quote from the book but i can't find any to suit the essay :S WANNA HELP ME?

City of Bones is an enticing urban fantasy about a fifteen-year old girl named Clary Fray, whose search for her missing mother leads her into an alternate New York called Downworld, filled with mysterious faeries, hard-partying warlocks, not-what-they-seem vampires, an army of werewolves, and the demons who want to destroy it all. She also finds herself torn between two boys -- her best friend, Simon, for whom she's developing new feelings, and the mysterious demon hunter, Jace. She becomes a part of the secret world of the demon hunters, or Nephilim, and as she does she discovers that rescuing her mother might mean putting their whole world in jeopardy. To have a gratifying outcome following such perplexing events, one must overcome the conflict they are given and therefore, evolve greatly as a person.
