I'm going to Dubai from Florida on a business trip in a few weeks. Monday - Friday (if that's the convention there) I'll be working on a project. The evenings and weekends I'll be free to visit Dubai.

I have a few concerns. Is Dubai a xenophobic country? I'm assuming not because it seems like a big travel destination and a melting pot.

I'm not to outwardly concerned about breaking the laws. I've read they are strict on drug laws (even so far as jailing people with over the counter medication), but I don't need any sort of medication and wont bring or have any.

What are the highlights/can't miss things in Dubai? I've never been outside North America. I've been to Canada, Mexico, and most of the Caribbean though.

What about the night life? What's popular, fun, and safe?

As for some of the attractions what are some of the costs? I really want to do the indoor skying at one of the malls.

What are some safe places to go outside of the tourist hotels? I would like to experience the local cuisine and people.

Thanks for any and all in-put. As a side not, has Anthony Bourdain or any other travel show done Dubai and the must sees? Any recommendations there?

It's an adventure type game, like monkey island, leisure suit Larry, ect...

It's a game where you are a wizard or wizard apprentice or something like that and has something to do with dragons. That's the best I can rememeber.
