  • aMERICAN Legion Age Limits?

    Hi everyone,

My son is going into the 8th grade in Sept, plays on a top travel team in MA, and plays for his middle school team. He will attending a private school for HS. Our town has a Senior Legion team but not a Junior Legion team.

My question is, is he allowed to play Senior legion ball as a 14 year old next summer, or does he have to play Junior intill he gets to be 17?

His travel team ends early July so he will be able to attend most of the games. One other question.

For players that play travel ball in 15U-18U age groups do you guys also play legion ball on top of travel ball since 15U-18U goes through the end of August?

    Thanks

  • Impressed by Private Tryouts?

Hello everyone. Im the coach of a 14U Team up in MA. My team won every tournament we entered last year and were the best 13U team in New England.

Any way we are holding tryouts next week and a young man wrote me a email asking for a private tryout on top of the regular tryouts.

He said that he has played at the travel baseball level for 4 years and hit over .450 last year for his travel team in our league (would be best on my current team).

I am not sure what to take from this? Should I allow him to tryouts privatly on top regular tryouts? Should I be impressed or not by his erge to be on my team?

    Thanks

  • Is It a Turn Off to Hit 6-7-8-9?

I was just wondering it was a turn off to a scout if you hit in the bottom of the batting order on your team. Even say if the team was the best in New England. Or do you have to hit in Top 4 to be scouted, even if you have a really good game????

    Thanks

  • Are My Stats Good Enough to See the MLB in the Future?

I play U13 in New England Baseball Alliance or NEBA. Its one of the best league in the Northeast.

These are my stats so far this year:

    HRs: 1

    1B: 3

    2B: 1

    3B: 0

    Runs: 4

    RBIs: 5

    Walks: 3

    Ks: 3

    Batting Ave: 417 (5-12)

    OBP: 600 (9-15)

    Slugging: 750

We have played 6 games so far. I am a little worried about my strike outs but we face alot of kids that throw really hard.

Do you think my stats are good enough for me to play in the MLB some day. I know 13 is really young to be able to predict that kind of stuff, but any thoughts you might have would be awesome!

    Thanks

  • What should your BA be to play D1?

I am 7th grade and am 13. I am allready being scouted by some d1 scouts. They say that are impressed with my skills but i should bat around 400 for my varsity team in my senior year (long way away). I currently go to private school and am on varsity (as a 7th grader). I bat 325 but i think that 400 for a senior is a little low to go to a d1 school.

What do you think your BA should be to go D1?

  • What does it take to make the MLB?

I have had a dream of making the MLB since I knew what baseball was. Right now, I am 7th grader (13 and a half) and am 5"10 and 160 pounds.

During the season I practice almost a hour a day but during the offseason I have trouble practicing a lot. First is because I live in Boston so it snow outside, and second I also have basketball every day. I am thinking I might quit basketball when I get to high school.

Last Year for my AAU Team I batted around 450. New England AAU is best league to play in for New England Youth Baseball.

Do you think I have what it takes to make the MLB?

    Thanks

    Sorry, I also play 1B and 3B.

  • Best Sports City in the US?

Which city in the US do you think has the best sports teams since 2000? Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball.

I think its Boston for sure. All there teams are very solid. Celtics are not doing that well this year but the Pats are in the Super Bowl, Bruins dominate in the NHL, and the Red Sox were one of the best teams in MLB for all season last year intill August and September.

    What do you think?

  • Good Idea to repeat a grade???

My son is a huge basketball player. He is currently in 8th grade, but he turns 14 next August. Most kids in his grade are 14 or turn 14 soon. Next year we have commited to stay back and repeat 8th grade a second time. We think this will help his basketball career a lot. He is already the top player on both his middle school and town teams. With him staying back he will dominate his middle school team and be on the current 7th grade team next year (so far 0-4). He should be a huge help,

I was just wondering one how much you think this will effect his career playing in college?

    Thanks
