Picky eater help?
My daughter is a little over a year and a half and is an extremely picky eater! It seems like my list of foods she liked has gotten smaller and smaller. I don't let her snack on junk food. I give her breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Her evening snack is actually a meal though. I don't give her lots of sweets and even stopped giving her juice because I was afraid she was just filing up on that. Right now she eats mac n cheese, hot dogs, hamburger helpees, tuna melt and grilled cheese. I can't even get her to eat a mcdonalds hamburger half the time. She use to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but won't touch them now. I can't even get her to eat Spaghetti Os. My daughter is so small it worries me. The doctors say she is growing along her growth line fine but she's almost 2 and wears size 9 month clothes! She doesn't even weigh 20 pounds yet. I am a picky eater myself, for me it's a texture thing and a disorder. I try to encourage different foods, but even the foods I do like and eat with her she won't eat. I know toddlers can be picky but this picky? And I don't make her another meal if she decides she doesn't like it, I also don't try to push it on her and force her to eat it. I simply give it to her, sit down and eat with her and if she doesn't eat I save it for later if I can and she waits until the next meal to eat.

My daughter is 19 months old now and has been showing the signs that she is ready to potty train. She doesn't like wearing her wet diaper, has control overy her pee, picks a private spot to go number 2 and is interested when I go to the bathroom. I always take her with me and will ask if she would like to use the potty like mommy but she always smiles and says no. So yesterday I decided to try to potty train her. I woke her up, explained we wouldn't be wearing diapers and put her big girl underwear on. yesterday she would start to pee, cry and I would grab her and take her to the potty. But she would only go after she had been sitting on The pot for some time and after screaming and crying because she didn't want to use it. I have been staying positive and not getting upset when she goes on the floor, I just explain she needs to go to the potty. Now on day three I feel it is worse. I try to put her on every hour but she sits there and scream and tries to get off. I didn't want It to be so stressful and wonder if I'm starting to early and yet I feel if I started sooner it would have been easier because now shes being a toddler and wants to feel in control. Any advice? What worked for you?

My daughter is just 18 months today, however she shows some signs that she is ready to start toilet training. she understands simple direction, she goes to a corner when she needs to go poop. She has asked me to sit on the potty and shows interest when me or my husband go. She will get me when she wants her diaper changed too. I've been holding off because she is so young and doesn't talk much yet. But lately she's been pulling on her diaper trying to pull it off so I'm ready to get her out of them. Any advice? What worked for you? I'm not using a little potty. I have a seat for her on the big toilet and she's sat on it fine so I want to stick to that for now and see how she does. The problem is she sits on the pot but hasn't gone in it yet. I don't want to make it stressful on her either
2 AnswersToddler & Preschooler6 years agoLong pre-labor? Will labor ever start?
I've been cramping, losing my mucus plug, having my bloody show and my system has been cleaning itself out since Friday. Contractions come and go, they will get stronger and closer together all night or for hours during the day but then stop. My doctor said wednesday I was 1cm diliated and soft and thinned out. Plus baby is down. With my first I had contractions but they didn't end up diliating me any so I ended up being induced. (My water levels were also low). I'm worried after all these contractions my body still won't have made any progress. I'm 40 weeks tomorrow. And please don't tell me I have another 2 weeks to go because I don't care. For reasons and based on my last labor I will be induced on thursday regardless. anyone else have a long pre-labor? Can I call my doctor to see if we can help speed up things. I haven't gotten hardly any sleep and with a toddler it makes it that much harder. I'm worried I won't have the strength come labor
2 AnswersPregnancy6 years agoBloody show vs mucus plug? And how long after bloody show does labor start?
I'm 39 weeks 5 days and have been losing my mucus plug over the past few weeks. I've only been diliated to 1 cm but very soft and thinned out. My doctor on wednesday stretched my cervix to see if it would help bring on labor. Yesterday I went for a long walk and felt crampy. Last night I started getting contractions and when I went pee I noticed in the toilet a long mucus looking thing but this time slightly red in color instead of clear. I had contractions all night that got stronger and closer. Then this morning it stopped. I've heard you go into labor shortly after having your bloody show but is that the same thing as mucus plug? This is my second child, last time I went into labor about three days after my bloody show.
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agostart of labor...39 weeks 3 days?
I'm pregnant with my second child and due in 4 days. I haven't had any real contractions and any other sign baby is coming. I saw my doctor yesterday and he said I was 1 cm dilated (which I was the week before) but nicely thinned out and soft. He stretched me a little to see if it would help bring on labor. Today I went for a long walk and kept moving all day. This afternoon I started feeling crampy, mostly in my back. Around 5 I got my first contraction, but it wasn't until 6:30 that I started getting contractions every 15 mins apart. They are not long enough yet or super strong but keep coming every 15 mins starting from the back and wrapping around. I also keep feeling pressure as if I need to poop. I went to the bathroom and noticed I lost my mucus plug and it was slightly pink. And again later actually was able to poop (sorry tmi). I want this to be the start of labor so bad but also know contractions can stop and this could just be false labor. Anyone else experience the start of labor like this?
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agosuccessful induction at 1cm?
I have 5 days left until my due date and up to this point have no sign of baby coming! Wit my first daughter I went into labor the day before my due date but the doctor ended up inducing me because my fluids were low and labor was slow. Once they induced me everything was fine. Long labor but pushing was easy. I was 2 cm dilated when they induced me with contractions coming every 5 mins. Now second time around I have had no signs of labor. The doctor says baby is low and my cervix has softened and thinned, but I'm only dilated to 1 cm. I go to see my doctor today and see if I'm making progress but I'm considering having him induce me at the end of this week since I feel I'll end up being induced later and at least this would work better with my husband's schedule. Of course I really don't want a c-section and was wondering if any second time moms had a successful induction at 1 cm.
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agoSecond time moms...how was your labor?
I'm at those last few weeks just waiting for the signs that baby is on her way....I know everyone is different but I was just curious how your labor started the second time? I've had lots of pressure down there for the past two weeks. Last week my doctor said my cervix had softened and this week it was thinned down and I'm starting to dilate. I have lots of little contractions and feel like I'll go any day...but I'm still pregnant lol How did your second labor go? was it the same as the first or did you find you dilated faster the second time around
3 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agoLabor around the corner? Second pregnancy?
With my first pregnancy I had contractions and started dilating at 38 weeks. I didn't actually go into labor until 40 weeks. I lost my mucus plug and had my bloody show at 39 weeks.
Now I'm pregnant with baby 2 and my doctor said my cervix is softening but not dilating yet. I'm almost 37 weeks. This week I've lost some of my mucus plug, baby seems lower and my body seems to be "cleaning" itself out. I never had this with my first pregnancy and am usually very constipated. My bowel movements just keep getting softer though which makes me wonder if labor is coming soon. My doctor is out of town next week so I'm extremely nervous, I would like him to be there. How soon after you started having symptoms did you go into labor?
4 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agostomach bug or start of labor?
I'm just now 32 weeks with my second child, and for the past two weeks have been having irregular contractions. I've been constipated for a week and took a stool softener yesterday. Today my system decided to clear itself out. Sorry tmi. I now have a really bad stomach ache and feel the need to throw up. I remember contractions with my daughter started in my back, these don't but my back does ache. And the pains seem to come and go. I don't want to wake my daughter up and rush to the hospital to find out its nothing. But I also don't want to be having pre-term labor. suggestions? Did your labor start in your back and wrap around or was it like a stomach bug
2 AnswersPregnancy6 years agothoughts of child backpack leash?
I am getting ready to have my second child and have been trying to prepare myself and daughter. My daughter will be almost 18 months when this baby is born. She is now at the stage where when we go shopping she wants to walk around rather than sit in a cart. My problem is getting her to stay by my side and she's so short it makes hand holding awkward. I've thought about the backpack leash to help teach her to stay near, give her the freedom of walking and also clear up my arms for baby 2 but worry how other parents will view them. I don't know how I feel about them 100% personally either. Part of me says yes and part says no. I'm interested in hearing other moms input.

5 AnswersToddler & Preschooler6 years agogames and activities for toddlers? I'm out of ideas!?
My daughter is almost 15 months old and we are both going crazy being trapped inside all day with winter going on! She's starting to mess with everything, even stuff she knows not to because she is bored. She just gets tired of her toys so fast! And she's an only child and I don't have any friends that have kids yet for her to hang out with. Any fun activities you do with your toddler?
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler6 years agotoddlers and food? help?
My daughter is almost 15 months. She usually does good with most foods. However I struggle getting her to eat in the morning. First thing in the morning all she wants is her milk. After drinking that she may take a bit or two of breakfast but that's it. She is then happy until lunch. I don't know if this is normal or not. I try feeding her food first but all she wants is her milk. The second thing she has started doing is sometimes at dinner she refuses to eat and will laugh as she throws it on the floor. I tell her no, slap her hand and she'll just throw a fit until I get her down. I find she does it mostly when she is tired due to not getting a good afternoon nap. Anyone else have this problem. I'm always worried about her getting enough food because she is only in the second percentile for weight and height. Like I said she eats good most of the time, we just have off days every once in awhile
1 AnswerToddler & Preschooler6 years agowhat age to start potty training.?
My daughter is just now 13 months. I figured I wouldn't start until 18 months but was windexing what signs you look for showing they are ready. My daughter picks up on things really fast. I always keep the door open when I use the bathroom to encourage her and show her myself. I figured she would feel more comfortable knowing I use the potty too. Lately when she poops she squats. I can always tell right before she poops. And after I'll say let's go change your diaper and she'll run right to her changing table. This makes me wonder if we could start early. However I never know when she goes pee and don't want to overwhelm her too early
3 AnswersParenting6 years agohow to announce your pregnant at 20 weeks?
I'll be 20 weeks on tuesday and will just now be telling the family I'm pregnant. My husband and I decided to wait when we found out for personal reasons. I'm excited to tell the parents but don't know how to tell everyone else after! I'm going to post a picture of my daughter holding a sign saying big sister but don't know how to caption it. I don't want people thinking it was a mistake and that is why we waited and yet don't feel I need to explain why I did wait. Any ideas on how to caption our announcement?
1 AnswerPregnancy6 years agoquestion about 1 year olds bowel movements?
My daughter for the past few months has had a hard time pooping. It seems like she is always struggling to get the poop out and it usually comes out in hard turds. I talked to my doctor about it a month ago for her 1 year check up and they told me she was getting to much milk. I was giving her as over 24 ounces and have cut back and increased the amount of solids she eats. Nothing has changed. She still struggles and will only poop a few turds that smell awful! I'm thinking maybe it is the milk and I need to switch to a lactose free. But I thought I would see if any other moms have had this problem and what helped. I breastfed her until 6 months. Then she did formula without any problems until 12 months. We started adding whole milk at 11 months
2 AnswersNewborn & Baby6 years agopreventing razor burn(bikini)....help?
I've waxed before but I hate the idea of wax pulling at my skin. It can't be good for it long term. As I get older I've noticed the razor burn gets worse. I've tried shaving cream, conditioner, change my razors often and will even grow the hair out longer to help. Anyone find anything that has helped?
2 AnswersOther - Skin & Body6 years agoeveryone around me is pregnant?
I got pregnant with my first last year. Right after I announced I was pregnant everyone else did too! Not only that but they were all pregnant with girls. Then 6 months later another group of friends got pregnabt but all with boys. 1 year later and my husband and I are pregnant again. We've been waiting for the right time to announce it to family and friends and decided on thanksgiving. I'll be 20 weeks. However since we have waited multiple friends have announced they are pregnant, and this time all due in the same month! Not only that but all with girls. We just found out we are having a girl too. I'very felt less excited now about this pregnancy knowing so many other people due st the same time. I know it seems silly but are there any other moms who felt the same way. We're not that close of friends that we'll do playdates. It's just people I know who know everyone else I know.
