I'm a funny, smart, easygoing gal. A great day is a trip to the Farmer's market to pick out a week's worth of dinner; then cooking &spending Sunday dinner on the porch or in the garden with friends and family. I have old-fashioned values combined with newstyle sensibilities: Mrs. Cleaver in yoga pants and sandals. If you offered me a choice between a bouquet of roses and a handful of wildflowers, I'd pick the wildflowers every last time, and given a choice between a good comedy and drama, I'll take the laughter 'cause there's not enough of it in the world. Books, music, friends and family, flea markets and trips to the river or the ocean to swim are all vital; things that I find satisfying and fulfilling, and my truest belief is that we're all here to help one another get by this life with as much love and grace as possible. The Beatles never wrote a bad song, Leonard Cohen is g-d, and pecan turtles are my drug of choice. viva la sock monkey!

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes9 years agoWhat foods pair well with White Burgund? (Chardonnay)?
I'm having a wine tasting for 12. I have cheeses, etc. covered, and am already serving Bayonne ham and mushrooms on toast, but I need something more. Nothing too time-consuming; advance prep. would be a plus. Chicken? Pork? Spicy? Not spicy? Can I please get a hand? Thanks.
4 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoWhat foods pair well with white Burgundy?
It's a serious wine tasting. Food is secondary but still important to the overall schema. 11 guests are expected, so a total of 12. I have cheeses covered, and am serving Bayonne ham and mushrooms on toast, but I need something else. Time is a bit of a factor, so nothing too involved, but does chicken of some type work? Pork? Spicy? Not? Help me out please!!

Seems to generate the same negative side effects; itching, nausea, what-have-you. It's hard to believe it's NOT codeine-based.

Just lost a dear friend, and her family and friends are in town. I've got the casserole end covered w/ a huge pan of lasagna and a roasted turkey, but there are little ones who need to be fed easily. I don't use much pre-packaged or processed stuff, and would like any suggestions you have. TIA.

1 AnswerBiology1 decade agoA menu planning throwdown-Interested?
A friend tossed this challenge at me and I need a little help with it. Two people, $30, four/five dinners and some staples such as milk and eggs needed. On hand: any kind of vegie you can name, canned. All manner of beans and rice. Canned chicken, canned tuna. All herbs and spices. Bread. They are meat-eaters and aren't long on pasta, but other than that aren't picky. Help me give them a hand, please!

3 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoneed comfort food recipes for my son?
My son's been dealing with Acute Leukemia for two years and his appetite has all but disappeared and mouth sore problems are an issue re textures and spices. He has no dietary restrictions except that he cannot have fresh vegies (salad, etc.). I'm just trying to tempt him; he's not picky but this has knocked him for a loop. I'm an experienced cook and can adapt recipes, so please send me your ideas about how to get some calories into him. comfort food seems like it would be good.
11 AnswersCooking & Recipes1 decade agoladies: can you recommend a really good eye cream, one that keeps that area truly hydrated and doesn't dry out?
I don't know if it's age or allergies just now, but for the past week my eyes have been horribly itchy, and I'm rubbing them so hard my cheekbones ache. The preparations I've used have dried out in no time. I need something that really works and really last. I'm taking benadryl and it's not helping, so I'm thinking it's a dry skin thing. Help before I go blind or carve out my eyes w/ a spoon!! Augh!
4 AnswersMakeup1 decade agoWhat are good side dishes for bacon cheeseburgers besides the usual fries?
That's dinner tonight, but I am so sick of French fries. Also the burgers have lettuce, tomato and onion so a green salad isn't an option. We really aren't picky. Help!!
