  • car buy back settlement question?

    I have a complex question and I'm having a difficult time getting perspective on it (since I've been so embattled with it for so long!)

    I bought a 2004 model car in 2005 (I won't get into the specifics of the vehicle, because it really doesn't matter.) I bought the car used with approx. 18k miles on it. I ran all the records, researched the model, asked all the right questions...

    I did all the required maintenance (for which I have receipts) and I did it ahead of schedule even. Still, while travelling out of town in Oct. of 2005, the engine emploded with just 28k miles on it.

    The car had an intact full warranty good for the first 36k miles, but the manufacturer's regional rep basically said "you're young, female, you bought a used car... and we don't think you can afford to fight this battle."

    After 18 months, they asked my attorney to send a "buy back demand" offer. My attorney suggests purchase price + actual expenses. Er...
