Should I sell RV’s, Insurance, or stay at Car sales?
I’ve been in sales 3 years and I’m at a Corporate owned car lot that worries more about tracking my calls and sending out 5 videos per day than how many I sell. We had a meeting about my poor performance on a call where I got the appointment set but didn’t open him up to more cars on the call. I have my P&C and Life/Health licenses already and now have an offer from an RV manager saying no interview just come see him when I’m ready. I’ve got a wife and 3 kids and I can’t seem to get ahead at this lot. I sold at other lots before and made more money, but I was new and not burnt out. Any suggestions or experience? Only need about $55k/year gross to get ahead.
2 AnswersBuying & Selling2 years agoFormer GM of car dealership asked me what it'll take to get me back.?
I started as a sales consultant in November of 2016 at a place over 1 hr from home. You work all but 6 days out of a month if not less and 9 months out of the year you work 8am-8pm at least. I worked on the used car half of the lot and had a couple of good months averaging 12-13/month over the 6 months I was there. I started at a smaller lot that sells almost new cars exclusively and I started with 7 sales then 10 and now I've got 4 out with 5 lined up for this coming week, not counting what I get in the near future. The GM of the former store texted me tonight asking how I was doing then when I asked him how he's doing he said missing having me there and what will it take to get me back. I'm happier where I am now, and working less hours. I'm not making crazy money yet, but the future is looking bright. The other store I was treated like **** by finance and managers alike save for a couple of them. I'm starting to get Internet leads, and phone leads and a couple cheese deals that are ready to go. What should I tell the former GM? I'd like to make it into finance eventually as they earn quite a bit more. It costs about $4k more to work at the previous place per year than my current place. Should I ask for $10k bonus, set my own schedule, and contract that in a year I'll be starting in finance if I so choose? I feel like it is reasonable since I made $18k profit for the company I'm at now just last month. Should I reach for this crazy demand or be more reasonable?
1 AnswerOther - Business & Finance4 years agoCombining Uber with Car Sales?
I work for a car dealership and have been taking lunch when I get a ping for Uber. It's nice making extra money on my lunch break but I've got an idea to market myself and make money at the same time. I can get some marketing materials such as car door magnets and/or window stickers (need advice) and that way while I'm driving for Uber I'm making money, and advertising myself. The idea is that while I'm not actively helping a customer or making phone calls, I can be driving. If they're interested in talking to me about what I do (since I drive in my work attire with my name tag), I can pitch myself to them and see if the rider is in fact looking for a car. We don't have a great amount of foot traffic for 12 sales people, but I've only been here for 2 months after 6 months at another dealership. Since I was recruited to work here do you think my manager will be okay with me leaving at different parts of the day to drive if I am marketing myself and possibly pitching to customers? Is this a good idea or does it sound stupid? I work hard but only had 10 sales last month.

1 AnswerSmall Business7 years agoWant to start business. Should I quit my job, school, or both?
Here's the rundown. I'm 27 years old, father of a newborn and 3 year old, work full time as a housekeeper at a university for 90% discount, wife doesn't work so she can take care of the kids, I'm 40 credits in for a degree, not attending this semester, and have an idea for a business that will require less than $4000 startup money. It's a good plan and I've had business classes. The problem is that we only make $1200 a month, working full time is keeping me from taking more than a class or two per semester, and my dream is to own my own business and be my own boss. My wife wants me to have a degree before I start my business so we have a better chance at me getting a decent paying job should my business fail. I also live 45 minutes away from work and school and that's one way. We live in one of the lowest cost of living states, but still struggling, and worried about an emergency coming up. The business would be profitable if I were to get 1/3 the national average business for it.
