What album should I be listening to right now?
No guidelines, just something that you think I should listen to. Most interesting answer wins my everlasting affection (and ten points)
15 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhich genre of music is the most cliche, in your opinion?
Oh, and why do you feel that way?
I'd argue for either Hardcore Punk or Reggae... well, maybe Death Metal and Top 40 Pop could be included too
13 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoFavorite Ramones song...?
...but I'm going to restrict you. You can only use songs from studio albums, and nothing from their first six albums, or Too Tough to Die. So essentially what I'm asking is: "What's your favorite Ramones song from their shitty albums?"
Mine is "My Brian is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes to Bitburg)" I think it's actually one of their better songs in general.
7 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoDoes anyone here realize how freaking awesome Emo is?
Of course, I'm talking about late-80s, early-90s emo like Rites of Spring, Quicksand and Drive like Jehu. And what the hell, I'll even throw in a little bit of early Jimmy Eat World.
5 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoIs Merzbow mainstream?
I don't listen to the radio or MTV, I'm in my own music bubble. Someone I know (who isn't exactly music savvy) said they wanted the Merzbow CD. I listened to it and it is pretty poppy, I could definitely see it being played on the radio. But he's playing at my local underground venue, not at a mainstream venue. So i'm confused.

Modern Country, Modern Emo, or Modern Dubstep? Pick your least favorite

I have a massive file labeled that, and I'm wondering if I can delete it.

Now's the time to go on a rant. Let all of your positive or negative feelings about this "divisive" genre spill out onto the page.
11 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoCan someone send me a Spotify invite?
I weally weally want one. If someone could email me from my page, that's be awesome
1 AnswerRock and Pop10 years agoFor my first question as "Top Contributer"...?
...I'd like to give something back. Everyone, please read this amazing article, tell me what you think, and tell me which part most interests you as a music listener
http://www.cracked.com/article_18896_10-mind-blowi...
Oh, and for those of you who think this seems like a homework assignment and don't want to do it, just do it anyway. You don't really have to read them all, just get the gist and be amazed by what some artists took the time to put into their albums
6 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWho's your least favorite music critic and publication?
Mine is:
Critic: Robert Christgau
Publication: Rolling Stone Magazine (Although I must admit, I am a subscriber)
2 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhat's an album you feel like you should have listened to by now?
For example, I listen to more Alternative Rock in a day than most people listen to in a year, but I've still never listened to "In Utero" by Nirvana.
5 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhat is a band you enjoy that...?
...You haven't listened to in a while, but now will listen to very soon because I made you think about it?
You're welcome for re-introducing you to that awesome band
14 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoBand who's name is wildly different from the music they make?
I'd say Massive Attack is the best example of this. The name sounds like a fairly heavy metal band, and yet they play almost ambient electronic music, often with sweet feminine vocals
8 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoAre you ashamed of your musical tastes when you were younger?
I know I am. I've recently gone through a bit of a musical transformation, and in a relatively short period of time. Here's how my tastes have evolved:
Pre-2006: The dark times. Listened to whatever happened to be playing on the local Top 40 radio station, Z100
2006: Good Charlotte and Linkin Park. That's about it
2007: Classic Rock, almost exclusively
2008: Added Nickelback and Kid Rock-type bands to my palette of Classic Rock. Hate everything that isn't Rawk
2009: Mostly Grunge. Still some Classic Rock (AC/DC was a favorite). Practically crusade against Rap, Pop and Electronic
2010: Opened wide to all forms of alternative music. Started listening to electronic-tinged bands like Primal Scream. Gave up Nickelback and Kid Rock.
2011: Current status as a bit of a musical connoisseur. Enjoy music from a wide range of genres ranging from Jazz to Mathcore, including Rap, Pop and Electronic
So, do you have a musical past that isn't so favorable like I do? Care to share a timeline? If not, just answer the main question
14 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWhat's the most recent album that you believe will be considered a classic 20 years from now?
If possible, can you please provide a release date, and the reason you think it'll be regarded so highly?
7 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoWould anyone here actually enjoy it if 70s & 80s style Classic Rock became popular again?
I think it would probably be terrible. I mean, some of that music was good for it's time and place (Lynyrd Skynyrd, AC/DC), and there were bands that are still fairly timeless (Led Zeppelin being the obvious example) but do we really need anymore Foreigners and Journeys? How about some Warrants and White Snakes? Every year or so a new band tries to bring back Classic Rock (Black Robot was last year) but they always turn out to be a fairly awful and hollow recreation. Can't we just say it was nice while it lasted (well, some of it was. I'll never enjoy Hair Metal) and stop asking for it to come back in every other question?
9 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoHave you ever heard any music that genuinely scared you?
The first time I heard Killing Joke's self-titled album, I nearly crapped myself
17 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoHow does Rock & Pop feel about the sentiments expressed in "Imagine" by John Lennon?
Do you concur or dissent?
BQ: Do you like using unnecessary words like concur and dissent when you could instead say agree or disagree?
5 AnswersRock and Pop10 years agoHow do you feel about distorted vocals?
Do you like them? Dislike them? No opinion? Why? Is their usage more apt in specific genres? Which ones? Why am I asking so many questions? Should I stop?
