Astronomy homework question about moving stars?

    The problem is:

A star is moving to you or away from you

    v is speed of star

    c is light speed

    delta wavelength is +0,030nm

    wavelength is 656,3

Somehow filling in these equations, it's supposed to end up with 14km/s.

I really don't understand how, and I'm trying to learn this, but I could use a hand.

I also don't understand how to read the equation in the middle of the screen there.

Does the speed of the star divided by light speed equal delta wavelength divided by wavelength?

In which case this is the equation where x is 14km/s:

    x / 300 000 km/s = 0.030 / 656.3

These two in my mind do not equal each other.

    What am I doing wrong?

  • What is this pop song called?

To be honest i'm not 100 percent certain it's based on Canon in D, but I think it is.

    It's a lady singing.

The song is quite new, I'd say it's 5-10 years old max. It was in the background of a youtube video but I don't remember which one, and the lady was singing quite energetically.

The only words I remember from is that at the end the regular riff from Canon in D (which was the chorus of this song) she sings "for me -- and you!". After that, the second part of the chorus comes I think.

The song was also not like a super hit everywhere, and not very high quality when it comes to lyrics etc. Just kinda like any pop song.

The instruments I believe were quite techno-like, but I'm not sure.

If I was to make up some lyrics from the back of my head from this song it would be something like: (the canon in d-riff chorus)

"Run to my arms, we're so broken-hearted

run to my arms, we are dears departed

    <and then something something>

    For me -- and you!"

Websites showing lists of Canon in D based songs, don't help.

  • What old british TV series is this?

In one of the episodes he managed to sell a house for as much as possible to one couple, while pretending to buy it from the sellers for as little as possible.

It's a comedy, definitely, and it's all centered around the man of the house who's about 40 or 50 or so, and has plenty of funny clever tricks like that up his sleeve.

In another episode, he and his wife went to a dinner party and they barely got any food there and so they went home and had eggs and bacon in the bathtub and he said "call that a dinner party".

I'd love to get nostalgic with this series again.

The main actor looks a bit like David Jason, who was in Only Fools and Horses. I don't know if this is the actor or if this tv show even has anything in common with it.

I'd very much appreciate the finding of this brilliant sitcom.

  • Why do I feel this way when losing at a game?

If I lose in a game, I get a physical pain in my chest, my heart starts beating faster, my stomach feels like it's nauseous, and it's almost like I want to die. It doesn't matter how many times I've lost in the past or how many times I've won, it seems like it always comes back to these emotions. What's wrong with me?

  • What old movie about a wolf or husky is this?

A dog's owner or friend is so proud of him that someone doesn't like it ans bets that he can pull 100 pounds of stuff on a sleigh about 50 meters or something.

Then at the end the man falls through the ice and dies, the dog licks the eyes a bit, cries and then walks away into the snow.

Anyone know what movie it could be? Thank you.

  • Western movies like James Stewart westerns?

Westerns with James Stewart usually have a very simple story, simple directing, everything's going sorta the way you think it will, the world is not ending, you just kinda get a glimpse of a part of it. Things are usually quite joyous mostly through the movie, but then the indians come or the cavalry arrive or someone has to shoot someone.

If I want to watch more movies like these, notably:

    The Naked Spur

    The Man from Laramie

    The Far Country

    Bend of the River

    Night Passage

    Two Rode Together

What kinda movies should I watch? If in color or not doesn't matter, but I prefer them being old. (And obviously with the same style as many James Stewart-movies).

  • Will the Blue Yeti be good enough for me?

In Batman Begins, Batman lifts up one of the crooked cops and the first thing he says is "WHERE WERE THE OTHER DRUGS GOING?!".

This is the type of voice work my current microphone can not handle without it screeching.

My current microphone is the Logitech G933's microphone, and it's quite good and clear and all, but when I say "WHAT'S GOING ON HERE?!", the microphone starts to screech.

I do not intend to use the microphone for singing or similar, just vocals and some times like I said loud, powerful voice over work. I intend to get a pop filter and I'm going to use OBS because the voice over work is filming at the same time.

Does anyone have any experience with this and/or either know or have a thought of how the microphone will be able to handle this?

If not, I suppose I would have to go elsewhere for my microphone needs.

  • Film noir detective spoofs based on?

I've been growing up with constant parodies and references in tv-shows and movies to old film noirs about a narrating private detective, who a regular evening in his cigarette smoke-covered office on the 7th floor, gets a gorgeous, full-lipped visitor in a dress in need of detective assistance.

The door of his office also has that white tint glass on it that says private detective or whatever on it.

This has been spoofed like a million times imo.

Now.. Where are all these movies that these spoofs are based on? Because I would desperately like to watch one. The more like what I just described, the better, but the key elements here are:

    Film noir

Lonesome, dark private detective and his office.

    Narration

Thank you so much for answering :)

  • What is this terrible pain in my forehead?

About 6 hours ago, I had such strong pains in the right side of my forehead, I had to close down the movie I was watching, and just go to bed. I woke up again, continued watching the movie and when it was done, the pains started coming again. The pain is just above my right eye. Rubbing the area makes it a little better, but just for as long as I'm rubbing it. The pain also brings some nausea/dizziness.

These pains I've had before in various situations, and when I get them, they grow stronger and stronger over time, but are there very rarely. I do not think I have migraines.

I'm definitely going to the doctor about this, but I would like to know what it is as soon as possible. Thank you!

  • What does my girlfriend want from me?

We've been together for about two months now, and I think we really like each others company. At least I like hers, but I think there's something I'm doing wrong.

We were walking down this cozy street, or maybe you could call it an alley, after watching 21 Jump Street in the theaters. We told each other our opinions on the movie, and there was this awkward pause. She then suddenly asked me "Do you know what a <something> is?" I said no, and she asked me again and again "Are you sure?" to make sure I didn't know what it was.

I had never heard that word in my entire life, and she didn't want to tell me what it meant either.

She then said "Okay, then I want one from you." And she gave me this weird but also kinda cute smile. I asked her multiple times what it was, and if I remember correctly, after asking her so many times, the <something> she asked me for was "rimjob".

I swear I did everything I could to make her tell me what it was, but she just smiled and said she didn't want to tell me. No reason given, whatsoever... What the hell? Is she just annoying me for fun? Is it even a real word? What am I doing wrong here? And why does my girlfriend only want things from me that I don't know what are? Please help me
