Hello! I'm a 23 year old mother of 3 gorgeous children. I'm a former teen mother, and I live with my partner of 5 years in Missouri. I was born in South Africa and moved to the USA in 1996 with my parents. I have lived a very interesting life full of amazing experiences and I am full of advice, even though many do not always agree with my opinions. I believe in telling it how it really is, and sugar coating is not an option.

  • This whole spanking issue?

Obviously no one is ever going to agree with eachother on this subject, right? I am pro-spanking, but I never have to spank my kids or implement any form of harsh dicipline on them.

But I have read some questions on here that bother me a lot. For instance, "any form of spanking is abuse, and you should never hit a child for any reason," what's up with that? I spank my kids as a form of play and affection when we play "love pats", and they don't cry. Is that a form of abuse? It nothing perverted, honestly. They have all their clothes on. I just tickle them and grab them and pat their butts a couple of times, sometimes pretty hard, and they laugh like it's a big joke. Do anti-spanking parents think I am abusing my children since they think ANY form of spanking is abuse?

But realistically, if I saw my child trying to stick a metal object in an electrical outlet, I'd smack their hand away just out of fear and instinct, wouldn't you? I just think this subject has gotten out of hand

  • 3 month old spitting up?

I just read a question about babies spitting up, and I became curious. My son is 3 months old and spits up A LOT. He's not puking, I know what it looks like when a baby is sick and throwing up.

So anyway, my question is, as long my son is gaining weight I shouldn't be worried, right? He's about the size of a 6 month old, and nice and chubby. I've tried everything the doctor reccomended to reduce the spit up, and nothing works, so I just deal with it. His doctor told me I could start feeding him cereal from a bowl around 4 - 5 months, will this reduce the spitting up business, or will it make the problem worse? Just curious. I have two older children, and I never had to deal with this type of thing with them. Thanks!

  • Post pardum depression, and I can't get help?

I think I'm suffering from post pardum depression. I get so stressed out about things I litterally feel sick like I'm going to vomit. I have actually had thoughts of suicide, like serious thoughts about not wanting or needing to live anymore. My kids are not in danger. I haven't been acting any differently towards them, but I'm sure they can see a difference in me. I used to be really OCD about keeping my house clean, and now I just don't care that much anymore. I even have to force myself to wash my hair, I don't ever want to go anywhere, and I have become very reclusive.

The problem is, I can't see a doctor about this. I can't afford insurance, and yet I don't qualify for assistance because we make too much money. I can't afford to see anyone, and I'm afraid that the depression is getting worse. What am I supposed to do?

My boyfriend needs a good name for a company golf team he's playing on this week. It's a construction company, if that helps any. I can't think of anything without being "too cute", ha ha ha. Nothing too innapropriate please! 10 points for best answer, thanks in advance!

  • Formula feeding, need some resources?

Where, on the web, can I find a chart indicating how much formula a baby must consume (per a 24 period) according to their weight/height, and not neccasarily their age? I've found numerous articles, but I need a chart. Thanks in advance!

  • Who has a baby?

Who here has a baby? How old, gender, weight and height?

I'm asking for a comparison. My son is 9 weeks old, 24 inches long, and he weighs 13 pounds and 5 ounces. He wears 3-6 month old-size clothing, and he's already starting to grow out of those.

Everyone keeps telling me that he's huge for his age. Yes, he's big for a 9 week old, but it bugs me when people are in awe like he's a circus side-show or something. Some people have also mistaken him as being much older and try asking me if he's menatlly handicapped because he can't do the things that a 5 or 6 month old baby can do. I have to explain that he's barely 2 months old, and it drives me crazy. Anyone else have a large baby? Yes, he just had a doctor's appointment the other day, and the doc says his weight is fine and he's not over fed

  • Weird period after baby, please help!?

I had a baby 8 weeks+ ago via c-section. I also had a tubal ligation (snip, tie, burn!) right after they took my son out. I only bled for about a week afterwards, which was great since I expected it to last longer. So I had a period from March 16th till March 26th (10 days, I know!!!! Awfull) but on top of the long period, it was extremely heavy, and I mean like something I've never experienced before. So, my period ended like I said on the 26th of March, but on April 8th, only 12 days afterwards, I saw some spotting, and I've been spotting ever since. What the heck is going on? I've had two children via c-section prior to this one, and I went on birth controll so my periods were weird because of that, but nothing like this. I've been trying to research this online, and all my sources tell me that there's no significant evidence of a tubal ligation causing such long, heavy, irregular periods. HELP!

  • Irrational fear of tornadoes?

I've always been deathly afraid of tornadoes, to the point where they cause me to have panic attacks. I live in Missouri, so this is a bad combo, right? Well, the NOAA is forcasting a severe tornado outbreak for the area of Missouri that I live in (obviously my fear has caused me to do my research and I check weather forcasts daily). The way they are describing it terrifies me! What makes this situation worse, is that I have an 8 week old, a 3 yr old and a 6 yr old, and around the time they are predicting these storms to hit, my partner will be at work and I'll be alone. We had a tornado warning just last week, and I was home without my partner, my 6 yr old was at school, and I had to get my babies and myself into the pantry. So now I'm so horrified at this idea that I actually feel like I'm going to vomit. I haven't slept but two hours, and I keep trying to come up with these plans of action to keep my babies safe. Are my fears rational? Is there any guru that can offer some advice?

  • A friend of mine told me my MySpace page is "creepy"?

I really don't think my page is creepy. I love it! It took me a long time to get it to look just the way I want it. What do you think? Do you think it's really all that creepy? The background music and the video is the same song, and the background artwork is simply amazing.

  • Quick question. How old do you think I am?

    My favorite show is CSI.

But I watch the weather channel and FOX News more than anything.

I dye my hair because I'm having problems with grey hair.

I hate bright colours and I dress quite plainly.

    I have 3 kids ages 6 yrs, 3 yrs and 6 weeks.

I love music from the 50's, 60's and 70's, and I don't really listen to anything recorded after 1998.

I don't ;isten to the radio unless it's "talk radio" or the news. And I have not watched MTV or VH1 in over 10 years.

I'd rather go out for coffee or do laundry on a saturday night than go to a party.

I haven't been to an actual party in over 4 years.

I had no idea who Mylea (sp?) Cyrus was until 2 weeks ago, and I have no idea what's popular now.

Can you guess my real age?

  • Quick question about my 6 week old son...?

My son is 6 weeks old and normally he's very active and alert during the day. But today he seems tired. He's sleeping more than usual. Other than just sleeping a lot, he's acting fine. He's eating enough. Any idea why he's just suddenly so tired today? Might it be the weather? It's very over-cast today. I've just gotten so used to him being awake and wide-eyed all day, so it's confusing me as to why he's just been sleeping all day. I haven't been around a baby this small for almost 4 years and I don't really know if it's normal for babies to sleep more one day and then be more alert on other days.

  • Poop issue and formula!?

My son is 4 weeks old and formula fed. I can't breastfeed, unfortunatly. He's on Enfamil Lipil, and I used this kind of formula with my other two children without any problems. Well, he's having a hard time pooping. He cries every time, and it's always real thick and sour smelling. Not that poop smells great or anything, but like I said, I've had two children previously, and I know what baby poop should look and smell like. I metioned this to his doctor, and he told me everything is fine, and I don't really need to change his formula. Easy for him to say! He's not the one dealing with a baby in pain every time he needs to have a bowel movement. He also spits up a lot, even after an hour or two after feeding. I don't know if this is somehow related. I dunno, maybe this baby is different from my other two? Does anyone else out there have this experience and could you give me some advice? It's the saddest thing in the world to see my son in pain!

  • Any opinions will be greatly apprecited?

I have a 2 week old baby who is extremely alert. He's awake for two hours at a time sometimes. I play with him, and talk to him, and my two daughters talk to him to keep him occupied, but he gets bored so quickly!

So I ordered him a play-mat with black, red and white contrasting shapes and pictures. Has anyone else had a positive experience with this kind of play mat? Anyone had a baby who wasn't interested in this kind of thing? I'm really just curious.

And what are some things I can do to keep my munchkin busy?

  • Am I really overreacting and just being a *****?

Ok, I'm 23 and I have two girls ages 6 and 3 and I have a one week old son. I gave birth to him viaC-section on the 13th and I had a tubal ligation straight after giving birth. I was released from the hospital on the 15th. Well, I've been by myself all week! My boyfriend works from 7:30 am till 4:30 pm, and there has been no one to help me at home at all. When he comes home, he sits around playing on the computer. This is my third c-section and I'm supposed to be resting, but instead I'm doing housework and slaving away for him and the kids like normal. Now my legs and feet are so swollen it hurts to walk, I think my incision is infected because it's red and there's fluid coming out (TMI, sorry) I'm feverish, dizzy, I can't eat and I have bad headaches and this sharp constant pain in my right side. He promised he'd help me, but now he just says keep the house tidy and quit b****ing??? I don't know what to do! I'm so depressed and stressed out. My family lives 3 hours away.

  • Is my mother crazy? Why does she do this?

Little background. I am 23 years old and I have 2 children ages 6 and 3. I'm having a ilttle boy in about 6 days. My parents are loaded, and love spending money on my kids, like buying them clothes and toys and such. My children are the only grandkids they have since my sisters are not having children.

I really appreciate my mother buying them clothes since we're not rich and we usually have to save money before we buy them clothes. Well, she calls me about once a week, and every time she calls, she accuses me of selling my kids' clothes for grocery money!!! Seriously. And now my dad is in on this also. They litterally accuse me of selling the clothes off my kids' back for food! We've had financial difficulties in the past, but this is just rediculous. We've always had plenty to eat, and I've never sold or pawned anything, and when my kids grow out of their clothes, I donate them to charity, I don't see the need to hold a garage sale even. Why does she do this? It's driving me insane

  • I just sneezed and it felt really weird?

I'm 37 weeks today and I've been having a lot of discomfort. I posted a question about it the other day but have since felt a little better after some more rest. Well, I just let out a big ole sneeze and the pressure was so bad down there that I cringed! It was kinda painfull. I'm afraid of sneezing now because the feeling was awful. Does that mean the baby is getting lower? I know he's already dropped down and he's in the head down position. But that felt really weird.

  • Just a little worried...should I be?

I'm almost 37 weeks pregnant and extremely uncomfortable. My pelvic area feels sore, and my inner thighs are very sore also. It feels like I've gone horseback riding for a few days. My stomach is also very hard and the baby moves less often. The pain increases and is almost debilitating by increased activity during the day. So I can't do much work around the house without being completely unable to function at the end of the day. Now and then I get cramping sensations in my lower abdomen and some pressure down below. Laying down doesn't help, and all I can do is sit around to avoid the increased pain that comes with too much activity. My lower back is also constantly achy. What the heck is going on? I've had two pregnancies prior to this one and I never had these problems before.

  • Any one else around 30 - 40 weeks pregnant?

Sorry, just bored and curious and I love reading about other people's pregnancies and stuff. I don't know if I'm weird or if it's a mommy thing. I have 2 girls, they are 6 and 3, and I have a baby boy on the way. I still have 3 weeks to go and I'm getting anxious to meet the little man of the house. It's kinda cool because my fiance almost seems more excited than I am and my two girls can't stop talking about it. I just wanted other mommies' oppinions and maybe some stories about their pregnancies they would like to share. And also, how different are boys from girls? I'm nervous about a little boy. I have gotten so used to Barbie, Princesses and pink!
