  • Home Made Fig Liquor that has gelled, should I be concerned?

I've followed a home liquor recipe for fruit liquors. Since I have a fig tree in my yard that has yielded a lot of fruit this season, I gave it a try. I washed 1 lb of figs and added about 2 cups of 80 proof vodka. After a couple of weeks the contents of the canning jar began to gel. There is no off color or odor and no gas production. Is there natural pectin in the Figs or should I be wary of the concoction?

(I have done it again with Everclear, which I'll have to dilute later and add sugar for taste, and the gel has not formed this time. The alcohol content is much higher though...)

  • What is the "file format" for a standard audio CD?

I'm converting a bunch of old vinyl records to CD (using a stereo system component CD burner). It'd be great to archive them on computer (much less space), but what file format would I save them as so that I could then, in the future, re-copy them to a CD that my car player could play?

For example, can an old car CD player recognize .mp3? .wav? etc.?
