31 years old, living in Kansas City. I enjoy Golf, Skiing, Snowboarding, Softball, and spending time with my girl and our two dogs. I work as a Tech Trainer at an automation company here in KC. Look for me in the Golf and Ski forums. If I give a sarcastic smart-a** answer, it means Im having a bad day.

  • I need a ruling on this one...?

After the heavy rains here in the KC area over the last week, my course has not been able to keep the course in decent playing shape. There are certain bunkers on the course that always collect water and get washed out, and of course I ended up in one of them. All of the sand had washed out of the bunker, creating gullies all around the edges, and the bunker was almost completely flooded...no attempt had been made to make it playable after the rain. My ball was in one of the gullies on the edge of the bunker and was basically unplayable. Would this situation fall under ground under repair, even though it had not been declared by the course, or would it fall under the "abnormal playing conditions" stipulation in the rules? Or was I just screwed from the start? I played it out and made double, but feel like I was penalized 2 strokes because of the lie, would have been an easy up and down with a decent lie.

  • What is your favorite US Open venue as a spectator?

A little discussion with a couple co-workers has spawned a friendly debate. As a spectator, what is your favorite US Open venue and why. Im going with Oakmont, just because I love to see those guys get slaughtered out there, and its got a great mix of long and short holes, not just the 480 yard par fours that you normally see in US Open setups.

  • Got some heel pain going on.?

Before you respond with "Go see a doctor", thats the plan here, just wanna know what im facing when I go.

Whenever I have my right leg at full extension, and I attemp to raise my toes, I get a nasty burning sensation that feels like it is coming from exactly where the Achilles tendon meets the heel bone. Bursa Sac? Tendon issues? What does this sound like to you guys?

  • What Geologic proceses caused the Sacramento Valley and San Joaquin valleys to form in California.?

Looks like a huge scar on the landscape that should be covered with mountains. Is this just a process of erosion and plate tectonics, or did something bigger happen in this area?

  • What is your most prized golf related possession?

Could be anything from your clubs to a scorecard signed by Bobby Jones. Im going with my scorecards from my PAT, my scorecard from my lowest round, and my Pebble Beach memorabilia.

  • Props to the Mono-skiers!?

Does anyone else think that Mono-skier X is one of the most impressive disciplines in the Winter X Games? Dont get me wrong...I love watching the skiers and riders tearing it up in everything they do, but the mono-skiers really have blown me away the last couple years.

My office at WP was right above the National Sports Center for the Disabled, and I had the pleasure of working and ripping with many of these unbelivable athletes. To overcome the adversity and challenges that these people have is impressive in its own right, but to watch them tear down a sketchy Skier-X course and then go for it over the last booter blows my mind. These athletes display a passion for the sport that is unmatched in my opinion, and have more guts than you could ever imagine.

  • Skiiers and Riders...?

Describe the most intimidating line youve ever attempted (or chickened out of.) Im sure most of these will be backcountry areas. Standing on top of Corbets will definitley scare the hell out of you, but getting ready to attemp the triple drop on Berthoud is the most intimidated Ive ever been on snow. How bout you guys?

  • Online gaming question...?

I dont play alot of video games, but I would like to pick up Tiger Woods 09' for my PC as soon or if it ever gets released. My question is: can I play online against people using a Playstation 3 or X-Box 360 if I am using a PC to run the game, or do I need to be using the same system as the other guys.

Also, does anyone know if EA Sports is planning on releasing a PC version of Tiger 09'? When?

  • Golfers: Who is your favorite course designer?

Donald Ross, Alister McKenzie, Bobby Jones, A.W. Tillinghast, Henry Fownes, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Robert Trent Jones Jr., Rees Jones, Pete Dye, Tom Fazio, Jim Engh? All of these guys have created great golf courses at one time or another. Who is your favorite designer and what features does this person incorporate into their designs to keep you coming back? All have their own distinct styles. Some are modern, and some old school. Personally, I think Tillinghast designs are outstanding because of his innovative design techniques when the profession was in its golden age, and the fact that he created challenging designs worthy of hosting majors and USGA championships. His courses seem to have more character than anyone elses in my opinion.

Feel free to list any others who you believe should be included in this list.

  • Is Michael Phelps on steroids?

I see this question in the Golf forum all the time posted by people who know nothing about Golf that are trying to stir up some controversy. I know nothing about swimming, and I dont think he is on anything, but I want to see the reactions of Phelps fans...will they defend him or are they wondering themselves.

  • Interesting Golf question...

When I play, I keep track of all my stats...GIR, putts, fairways, etc. I had an interesting scenario in league on Wednesday. I drove the green on the first hole a par 4. The pin was cut close to the edge of the green, about 4 paces on. I had a downhill putt, and rammed it past the hole, and it trickled into the fringe. Do I still get credit for the GIR since I was on in 1 but off in two?

  • Hey Willie, what should I wear skiing?

I was thinking Blue jeans, ankle socks, a cotton sweater, stretch cotton gloves, and no helmet. And im not gonna wear sunscreen...

just a few of the ridiculous things Ive heard the gapers ask when the snow starts falling. Obviously im just jokin' around. Gotta keep it light in the summer when there is no snow to play with!

  • Skiiers...who is ready to make some turns?????

Its august in Kansas City, about 90 freaking degrees, and all I can think about is hucking a 20 footer into about 6 feet of fresh pow. Anybody else feel the same?

  • Tiger haters...?

How do you feel about the fact that Tiger won the U.S. Open with two stress fractures and a torn ACL? Everyone on here dogs on him so much for so many different reasons...are you impressed now? He knowingly gave away his season for a chance to win a tournament that was special to him. Im very impressed.

  • Having problems with a Rose Bush...?

This year I am trying to bring back an old Rose Bush. It had been neglected for a few years before I moved into the house. I pruned it this Spring, and now it is producing all kinds of buds. The problem is, the stems are thin and weak, and cant support the weight of the buds, and they are all drooping pretty bad when they bloom. Is there anyting i can do to fix this?

  • Will anyone break Par at Torrey?

The last three years the Open has been taken by a player at even par or worse (+5 the past two years.) Granted, Oakmont, Winged Foot, and Pinehurst #2 are brutal layouts, but not since Retief Goosen came in at -4 at Shinnecock has a player managed to break par for the Championship. With the Open being at Torrey Pines this year, will the over par trend continue, or will someone step up and go low?
