  • Trying to find a good inexpensive red wine?

I am a complete novice when it comes to wine of any kind, but I have had no trouble finding an inexpensive white wine ($25.00 or less per bottle), but I'm at a loss for red. I don't like it too sweet, but not really dry either. I've been looking for a happy medium with no luck yet. Any suggestions?

  • How to cook a Turkey?

I volunteered to make a turkey for my son's kindergarten class for their Thanksgiving celebration. I just bought a roaster about a month ago. I've done Thanksgiving before, but never in a roaster. Do I need to add cooking time, do I still cook it at 350? I am going to stuff the bird also.

I don't want to serve raw turkey to a bunch of 5-6 year olds and their parents...

    Thanks for your help.

  • Should I go or should I stay?

A little back ground. My husband and I have been married almost 10 years. He had a 3 year old when we got together. We all get along really well, but my step son's mom HATES me. She used to talk badly about me to her son to the point of making him cry. She even told me she doesn't like me. The only reason being, is that I am with my husband. She is married with another child, and still hasn't let it go.

He will be 14 in a week. Yesterday he broke his leg badly, while playing football. He broke both his tibia and fibula and cracked his growth plate. We were at the game and also at the hospital. Today he had to go back in to be put under so they can try to set his leg without surgery. He asked his father if he could come to his house when he got home from the hospital. He wanted him to be there for him, and I completely understand and agree. My question is, he also asked if I was coming along with his little brother and sister. He didn't say he wanted us there, but wanted to know if we were coming. Since his mom still harbors a lot of resentment for me, should I go? I would like to be there for him, but at the same time it will be in her house. I'm sure she is stressed out enough without having to deal with my presence, but I also want him to know that I am concerned about him and that I do care. I know we will all act like adults, but I'm not sure how I would want it if the roles were reversed either. Would you go? Why or why not?

  • Wireless router question?

I hooked up a Linksys 2.4 GHz (802.11g) broadband router up to an X-box 360 and a Wii. Ever since my computer seems to be running at a snails pace. Is it the router and is there a way to speed it up? Do they make more powerful routers. I'm barely computer literate, so I don't know a whole lot about this stuff.

    Thanks

  • Kids and biting?

My friend is having a problem with her 2 year old biting (to the point that the school called her about bite marks on her other kids). What are ways to get him to stop. She tried biting him back and it didn't work.

  • Step son passed out during gym class?

My husband just called to tell me that my step son's mom called him to say that my step son passed out during gym class and when he came to started vomiting blood. She is taking him to the ER as we speak, but in the mean time I'm hoping for the best and thinking the worst. Is it possible that it could be simply from over exertion? He just started running track too, and has never had a problem. As luck would have it, I just had an accident where I passed out. When I came to I was vomiting, went to the ER and had a CT scan done and I was OK. So it's not the vomiting I"m worried about so much as the blood part. He's 13. Any reassurance would be great. Thanks.

  • Why the double standard?

I was talking to a couple of male relatives yesterday about teachers sleeping with their students. One made the comment that he wished he had teachers like that when he was in school, and the other one agreed.

So I asked them, what if some 30 year old man was sleeping with your 14 year old daughter? They both said they would kill him. Then I asked, what if it was a 30 year old woman sleeping with your 14 year old son? They both said that would be OK. I have heard other men reply, basically the same way as them, and some women too. Even seeing some of the sentences for female teachers verses male teachers seems to imply it's not so bad for women to sleep with thier teen students.

I am a mother to two sons and a daughter. If I found out any of their teachers (or any adult for that matter) were being sexually active with any of my children, well, let's just say I would be the one on trial.

Do you think it's OK for boys to sleep with older women, but not girls & why?

  • They want their cake and to eat it too?

Where in the world did this expression start? I hear it constantly, but it makes absolutely no sense to me. Who gets cake and then doesn't eat it? So what kind of sense does it make to say he/she wants his/her cake and to eat it too???? Of course they do. Isn't that the point of getting the "cake" in the first place?

  • How long do dogs bleed during a heat cycle?

I have a 15 month old Husky, Boxer, Lab mix female. She is in her second heat. During her first heat she didn't bleed or if she did, not enough to notice. She has been spotting for about a week now. I got her some doggy pants to put pads into to protect my carpet and furniture, but was wondering about how long this will go on.

    Thanks.

  • Fly killer?

Is there any kind of fly killer besides spray or that gross fly tape? I know for slugs you can set out a bowl of beer and they will come to it and die (or something like that anyway), is there anything similar for flies? Something you can set out that would attract them and kill them when they eat it?

I did the spray, but they just keep coming back, and I have no idea where they are coming from. My house is clean, I have no food sitting out (never have). They seem to be coming from the basement. I kill probably 10 a week, but they just keep coming.

  • Here's a really stupid question.?

I was signing up for an avatar, and I accidently put that I wanted it male. I tried to go back and I couldn't, so I closed the screeen and it saved it as a man. Is there a way to change this, or do I have to get another I.D. to have a female avatar (I am female)?
