Louisiana Insane Asylums History Resources?
I want to write my undergraduate thesis about the history of insane asylums, sanitariums, mental institutions in Louisiana, but I am having a lot of difficulty finding sources for research. Does anyone know where I can find scholarly information about this topic?
2 AnswersHistory10 years agoCan you identify this salamander?
I have found two like him in a shallow, non-draining ditch in north Louisiana. I really hope someone can help identify him. He is a baby and much smaller than the one in the picture. He is transparent but already has the red wing-like structures and forelegs and hindlegs.
4 AnswersZoology1 decade agolegal herb "nova" in louisiana?
i was at a smoke/"head" shop last night in north louisiana and the line was out the door with people waiting to buy a gram of what looked like catnip and came in little baggies. it was $25/gram and people were buying 3 at once. i asked what it was and they said INCENSE. but i really doubt that's true because incense would not be kept behind the counter and sold by the gram at $25 each. i asked if it was like salvia (i know it's illegal in LA but i'm from TX) and the clerk got jumpy. does anyone know what this stuff is and what it does? it was called nova or super nova.
3 AnswersOther - Entertainment1 decade agoresidual chronic severe pain and tightness in shoulders?
i'm only 20, i had parvovirus when i was 17 and it lasted for months and caused me to suffer from arthritis symptoms for a while.. the muscle tightness still remains.. i recently started taking soma (half of a 350 mg a day) and i take arthritis strength tylenol.. and i've done stretching, physical therapy, lots of chiropractic, have used lidoderm, took cymbalta for a while, then just celebrex, then just motrin (all that before soma), and i have a personal EMS/TENS unit, but the only thing that works and is actually effective is deep tissue massage. i don't have the money to go as much as i need to (i'd have to be a millionaire). is there a permanent cure for this? is it a condition? some doctors like to diagnose fibromyalgia and others don't; all i know is no one wants to give me fibromyalgia meds because of my age. please help me if you have any information

I can really appreciate the shock value in some movies. Here's a varied list of things I've enjoyed; please suggest some more. I don't particularly enjoy the sci-fi genre, and I try to avoid rape scenes and excessive gore.

My Macbook fell on the floor the other day and landed on the USB cord, which messed up the whole side of the computer. The internal USB port is bent and sticking out. I drove four and a half hours to the closest store only to be told my warranty was now void unless I paid them $830 to go through and do a complete repair as required by the company or something. I was also told another laptop was only $150 or so more than the repairs I have to get in order to have Apple ever help me again. My laptop works just fine and I love it, but I am extremely unhappy about this. What can I do?
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoDutch language and Netherlands schools?
I am a psychology/liberal arts major in America and want to study abroad in Amsterdam or somewhere in the Netherlands in the next year or two. I have studied Latin and Spanish and enjoy foreign language, but I've never studied Dutch or German. I plan on attending a university through ISEP that offers classes in English, but I would like to learn Dutch. How difficult is it to learn Dutch for someone who speaks English, and how good are schools in the Netherlands?
4 AnswersStudying Abroad1 decade agoHow do I help his bad kissing?
I am to the point where it angers me when he kisses me. He opens his mouth wider than a dentist could ask for and irritates my nose with slobber and my chin with his rough stubble. When I gently hold his face, he gets defensive and says what are you doing! I tell him he has my whole face in his mouth and he gets upset and it kills the mood. He is overly sensitive and I don't know what to do. It hurts and makes me mad when he kisses me like that. I'm not going to dump him because I love him. Please help!

i am on several different prescription meds for different reasons and i think i overdosed on caffeine or did something weird the other day because i had uncontrollable shaking episodes, like borderline seizure. that is not at all normal. is it possible that my medicines stopped working all of a sudden? i am feeling bad all over. my med for chronic pain didn't do much for me today.
let's say i did have a bad interaction with something else. does that mean i need to change my meds now? they were working really well and this is crazy.
