1 AnswerHomework Help9 years agoAcid-Base reactions experiment problem?
Two students were asked to carry out an acid and base reaction between CH3CCH and NaNH2. First the student mixed the two reagents in water and the reaction failed. However, the second student mixed the two reagents in hexanes ( CH3(CH2)4CH3, a common organic solvent) and the reaction worked. Provide a reasonable explanation as to why the first student's method failed?
I really have no idea -_- Please help! Thankyou!

2 AnswersBiology1 decade agoBruised lip? Quick cures?
I had a root canal, and they'd used a local anesthetic on me, so i couldn't feel half of my face for a several hours... unfortunately, during this time i made the mistake of chomping on my bottom lip, leaving it swollen, and bruised!
The swelling is gone, but now i'm left with some hideous black, bruiselike circle on my lip, and it sucks :( I've looked everywhere online for remedies, but majority of the people say just to keep it moisturized and keep icing... there HAS to be a better, and QUICKER, way :( Thanksgiving is coming up and don't want to be seen with this :( barf.
1 AnswerInjuries1 decade agoChemistry Help? Hess' Law.?
Use Hess’ Law to find the change in enthalpy for the following reaction:
3NO(g) N2O(g) + NO2(g) ΔH = ?
Given:
1. 2NO(g) N2(g) + O2(g) ΔH = -180.7 kJ
2. 2NO2(g) 2NO(g) + O2(g) ΔH = 113.1 kJ
3. 2N2(g) + O2(g) 2N2O(g) ΔH = 163.2 kJ
I'm usually okay with Hess' law... I just can't seem to get rid of the O2's!!! They're driving me crazy. And i can't think of any fractions that'll get rid of it! :/ Help please
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoChemistry help?! Enthalpy of hydration lab!?
25 mL of 0.150 M NaOH and 25 mL of 0.150M HCl are placed in a calorimeter; both are initially at 24.0oC. After stirring, the final temperature is 34.2oC. Calculate qsolution, qreaction and ΔHreaction (in kJ/mol). Assume the density of the solution is 1.00 g/mL and the specific heat of the solution is 4.18 J/goC. Pay close attention to the signs of these values.
I. AM. SO. LOST.
This is my last resort, because all the chem professors refuse to help on pre-labs. :/
