  • Can I read and write word documents on a Linux Computer?

    My windows XP is hopelessly corrupted by some virus and I'm seriously considering trying Linux instead. I do have one question that I haven't been able to find an answer for though. Will I be able to edit Word docs etc. and transfer them between my Linux computer at home and the old XP computers at work?

    I know that OpenOffice works on Linux, but the version of Microsoft office at work is so old that documents I have tried to save using the XP version of OpenOffice had the formatting hopelessly messed up. Is there a doc editing program that will be 100% compatible with the MS Offic '9? at work?
