  • Should I text him?

I’m a gal, senior in HS. This is the first year that my male crush & I have been in classes together, but I’ve been aware of his existence since the beginning of HS bc he’s friends w many of my friends. He’s prolly known abt me too. However, we’ve never spoken to each other until this year. We usually talk to each other everyday-ish in class, but our “conversations“ are usually short & jus jokin around, mostly in the presence of other friends. Even though we haven’t had any more “personal” discussions about our interests, etc., I feel like we know a decent amount about one another bc we run in the same circles & the classes that we share are discussion-based (eg Philosophy), in which we’re encouraged to share our personal opinions. (Especially so for me & him bc we are the ones who participate the most in the discussions.)

It’s unlikely he has feelings for me, but he seems to find me amusing. I’d like us to get to know each other. I have his number bc we’re in a gc for a class, but we have never texted each other alone.

So, obvi, should I text him? I don’t have a particular reason to other than to begin the process of getting to know him, so I would obviously need to formulate a reason to contact him. I think he would respond warmly bc he is v receptive to everyone. But I don’t wanna come on too strong, especially bc he’s reserved abt relationships, & I dunno if it would be appropriate for me to text him bc we’re only just acquaintances. I’m jus driving myself crazy!!

  • How does the Triangular Trade Route relate to Salutary Neglect?

Many websites have mentioned some sort of connection between them, but I am unsure of what that connection is. Thank you!

  • Causes of salutary neglect?

Why did the British support the policy of salutary neglect?

I have read about the existence of some connections between the Glorious Revolution and the adoption of the policy, but I am unsure of what exactly those connections are. Was the Glorious Revolution a direct cause of salutary neglect? How so?

I am really stuck on this, so would appreciate any help I can get on the subject. Thanks!

  • Did the Puritans model society ultimately cause reform in the Anglican Church of England?

I m writing a thesis for AP US History*, and I m stuck. I know that, and please correct me if I am, God forbid, incorrect, the Puritans aspired to create a model society that would inspire the Church of England to cleanse itself of its impure borderline Catholic ways, but were the Puritans actually successful in causing this reform? I have been searching for info all night but have truly come to a standstill on this one! Any help would be heartily appreciated. Thanks c:

*The prompt for my thesis is as follows, if anyone would be so kind as to offer any additional insight about the overarching questions I am attempting to answer: The New England Puritans sought to create a model society. What were their aspirations, and to what extent were their aspirations fulfilled prior to 1756?

  • Help with these negative exponents problems, please?

    1. Multiply ( 4^-3 / 5^3 ) x ( 5^4 /3^-2 ) x ( 2^5 / 3 )

x in the above problem is just the multiplication sign, not a variable c:

    2. Write the expression using only positive exponents.

    4x^-4 y^3 / 8x^2 y^-6

(You multiply everything on the left side of the fraction bar just like you multiply everything on the right. I just put in spaces so it is easier to read.)

    3. Rewrite (5^-3)(7^2) / (5^6)(7^-8) using positive exponents only.

Please try to be detailed with your explanations, if possible, so I can understand HOW to actually solve the problem - not just an answer. Attempt to refrain from commenting unless you have some actual help to offer. Thank you so much, and I hope you have a lovely day c:

...er, it's supposed to be easy, but my mind has been on vacation for the past three months XD Please attempt to be thorough in your explanation, if possible, and I thank you for your kind assistance on this beautiful day c: here's the prob:

A bag contains 5 blue, 3 red, and 8 green marbles. You choose a marble, don't replace it, and then choose another. What is the probability that both marbles are red?

  • Help with simplifying these expressions before I rip my hair out?

    1. Simplify 2xy^2 (3x^2 -- 2y) -- x^2 y(2x -- 3xy)

    2. Write the expression using only positive exponents.

    4x^-4 y^3 / 8x^2 y^-6

    3. Simplify √(x^4 y^3 ) • √(8x^3 y)

    4. Simplify (2x^4 y^3)^2

Please try to be detailed with your explanations, if you can (read: show your work) because I would like to use your explanations to help me solve the rest of the difficult problems that I did not list on my own. Thanks for taking time out of your day to help me c:

  • Quantitative Energy Conservation (Physics) Help?

    The question is this:

A dart gun vertically launches a 25g dart 50 cm high. Determine the minimum energy stored in the spring when the dart gun was loaded.

There are also graphs at the end, but the only info I would need to fill those out is whether the initial energy was Ek, Eg, Ee (or a combination) and then what that energy became after the dart was shot, whether it is Ek, Eg, Ee, Edissipative, or some combination of those. It would be wonderful if you could help me figure that out, too.

I have been really struggling with this and appreciate all of the help I can get <3

  • Wondering about Panic! at the Disco concerts?

So, I was looking through tour dates and stuff, and I found that Panic! at the Disco is going to have a concert very close to where I live this July for their new album. I have never been to a concert before, and Panic! at the Disco is one of my absolute favorite bands. However, I would really like to know how appropriate their concerts are. I am definitely a dedicated fan, so I know the lead singer has the tendency to curse/make sexual references/stuff like that, but I just want to know with how much frequency he does those sorts of things on stage... mostly since I m afraid my mom will get angry at me during the concert for being a fan of a guy who behaves so crudely, lol. If she even lets me go at all, of course! So, if anyone has been to a recent Panic! at the Disco concert or knows anything specific about the way they perform, please let me know! Any specific things Brendon has said / effects on stage / setlists you can remember would be most helpful. And also, if you have any advice for convincing my mom to let me go to the concert (and talking her down if things do get a little inappropriate), I would love that as well. Thank you! (Oh, and I m 15, btw.)

  • Lice help!?

Today, I found a definite louse in my hair. My mom came home from work on her break a couple hours ago and searched my head, but she couldn t find any bugs, although there were lots of white specks in my hair (which could either be dandruff from all the itching or nits). My mom suggested that we either dye my hair or apply lice shampoo and use the nit comb when she gets home from work soon, but she told me to do some research first to see what would be more effective.

I have had lice about 3 or 4 years ago, and after a couple weeks, we eradicated them using the lice shampoo and nit comb, but I had many, MANY lice in my hair that were very easy for my mom to detect. In this case, I m assuming that my outbreak isn t too bad, so I want to use the hair dye to see how it works, since I ve read that it is sometimes successful.

I often dye my hair purple every three months or so, without using bleach (just applying the dye directly to my hair). I was wondering if it would be more effective to bleach my hair this time before dying (rather than just applying it directly to my hair) in killing the lice, or if I can dye my hair as I normally do.

We are planning on testing this method, and then using the lice shampoo if the problem persists a few days from now.

  • My guy friend likes me, but I like someone else who likes me back...?

Okay, so, recently, one of the girls in my friends circle told me that my best guy friend has a crush on me, and he was planning to ask me out. Because I like another guy (which he's known for almost a year now), I told my girl friend to convince my guy friend not to ask me out, and he hasn't. He doesn't know that I know he likes me, so I've been treating him very normally, as I usually do.

Today, however, in my Science class, we were watching the teacher conduct an experiment at the front of the class, and he was looking for a place to stand, so he waved at me, and began to walk my way. As he was walking, my crush, who likes me back (definitely; I'm not just assuming here) told him he could sit in his seat, which was far away from me, but he said no and continued walking toward me, which seemed to irritate the guy I like, since he's displayed numerous times that he's jealous of the relationship I have with my guy friend.

Then, my guy friend started to flirt with me. A lot. He complimented my appearance twice, and when I was laughing at something funny he said, I almost fell into one of the projects behind me, so he steadied me by putting his hand on my lower back. I responded to his flirting in a nonflirtatious, platonic sort of way that didn't accept nor reject it.

And, the whole time, my crush was watching us in an annoyed sort of way, and he even started flirting with a couple other girls in the class right in front of me. He knows I like him

    How do I handle this?

  • How to stop liking someone?

There's this guy that I used to be really great friends with last year, and we both seemed like we had a crush on each other. However, for reasons that would take too long to explain, we stopped talking to each other (it wasn't a fight or anything; we sort of, in a way, just drifted apart), and he started acting like a total jerk, doing things like ignoring me in front of friends, giving dirty looks, and just acting super fake and egotistical (this was around April-June). For reasons unknown, I still continued to like him, probably because he still, occasionally, would talk to me, and sometimes he would be super nice, too, AND the fact that I continued to hold on to the friendship we once had.

Around August, I decided that I shouldn't be dealing with this kind of behavior, and he wasn't worth it (we hadn't spoken all summer, but I guess I just grew up a lot), and that I should, seriously, just stop liking him for good. While he may have once been decent at one time, he's not anymore, and I was hoping that the rest of the summer away from him would end these feelings completely.

However, as you can see, they haven't gone anywhere, and I still blush, get nervous, and think about him way more than I should. It disgusts me that I still feel this way about him - especially since, judging by his actions today (1st day of school; we didn't talk), he seems to have gotten worse.

He's in my PE and Spanish classes, and my friends talk about him often.

    How do I quit?

  • Please help me~! I really don't know what to do.?

●Last year, in 7th grade, I became friends with (all names are fake) a girl named Lucy, and a guy named Robin, who I have a crush on.

●I soon found out that they were both in a science/engineering club (which I was interested in joining that year, but I couldn’t make it because of other obligations), and they soon convinced me to join it next year, in 8th, and I agreed because it seemed interesting, and they were both in it.

●Robin seemed really excited that I was joining and even said that I could be a group leader and presenter next year and that we could win the competition together.

●Soon, Lucy began accusing me of only wanting to join because I wanted to slack off with Robin, and she told me that I shouldn't because it wouldn't benefit the group, which was highly offensive because I consider my work ethic to be much higher. Lucy and I maintained an on and off friendship.

●Robin and I's relationship deteriorated when we found out that we both like each other, but I can't date and he wasn't sure if he wanted to date anyone, and he started acting like a jerk and doing weird, complicated, and contradictory things. We did, however, maintain a fairly solid friendship, and we had each other's backs when it counted.

●Lucy and I got in one last fight before I told her not to talk to me. I told Robin about it (roughly), but I promised to help w/ the club the best I could.

  • College help?

Hey there~! I'm writing a book where the main character, Lola, is in college, hoping to become a costume designer for movies. I already have a plot and characters created (roughly), but there's one problem...I'm only 13, and I honestly don't know a thing about college classes, and how they're scheduled, and tuition, and, gah, too many things to count. Could anybody help fill in the holes for me? Here's what I already know...

    ●Lola's getting a Bachelor's Degree, which is 4 years, or 8 semesters.

●I'm not choosing one specific college for her to go to - I'm creating my own so I can manipulate things a little better.

●She wants to take classes on: Costume Design for Movies, Fashion Designing, Jewelry Making, and Hair/Makeup. (I'm honestly not sure what to do about this section, since I don't know anything about choosing classes, how they're set up, and the scheduling, and all of my research has proved quite futile.)

    ●She's living in a dorm.

●I saw on the website of the Academy of Art University that some students get to participate in Fashion Week as an end of the year project, and I want to use that in mine.

    Here's what I don't know...

●Class hours? I saw something about 120 hours total for a Bach. Degree, but I'm not sure how it's all divided.

    ●How does tuition work?

●What would her major be, exactly?

    ●Basically everything XD

Thanks for the help~! I would do this myself, but it's all super confusing, honestly :/

  • Help with controlling myself?

I am considerably a very disrespectful person when it comes to talking to my parents. And, I've always known it. It's not that I don't HAVE respect, it's just that I don't show it. I respect my mom greatly, and I am usually fairly respectful to her most of the time, although I do occasionally talk out of turn. However, I don't like or respect my dad because of things he's done to my family, and I feel no remorse for talking back to him, which I do VERY often.

However, he's my dad, and I know that I shouldn't be blatantly disrespectful to him, because that's wrong. He's threatened to send me to a juvenile detention facility, which I think is a bad choice. I have never, ever been the type of kid who should be there. I am 13 years old, at the top of my class, and have never got into any serious trouble EVER.

I tried apologizing to my parents today for my lack of self control. I tried explaining that I don't know how to shut up and have an incredibly bad temper. I told them that I always feel the need to explain myself (because my dad tends to never let me explain anything AT ALL) in an argument, even if I know I'm wrong. My dad said that I was "bullsh*tting" and trying to "pull something over on him", which isn't the case. I'm an extremely honest person who was being completely forthright in saying that.

I really want to stop being like this. And, NO, my parents didn't make me write this. I just want to be better, honestly. Any ideas on self control?

  • Am I being unreasonable? What should I do? Is there anything I CAN do? (see details for what happened)?

-My parents and I just finished watching a movie, and my parents wanted to put on another movie, but I didn't really want to watch it (very long, not my type of movie).

-So, I asked if I could go in the living room with the computer, but my mom said no. She said I could be on the computer, but it would have to be in the same room as the TV.

-This was something I couldn't do, because I'm writing a book, and I want to concentrate on the story and read my writing aloud without disrupting anything.

-My mom said I didn't have to read it aloud, but I DO, because that's how I write. So, I told her that.

-My dad told me to go to bed (at 11pm ._.), but I can't because I'm not tired.

-I asked my mom if I could go in the kitchen and write, because I could still see the TV from there. She told me to ask my dad. He said no. I was like, "Come on, can't I just be in the kitchen? We have this movie rented for 2 days. I don't want to watch it now. Can I write now and watch it later?" and I complained for a little.

-My mom told me to get out.

-I picked up the computer and all my stuff and started walking to the kitchen, and I said, "I don't know what I did," and accidentally dropped the mouse. I told my mom to hold the computer while I picked up the mouse, and she accused me of breaking it. I showed her that I didn't, and she screamed at me to GTFO because I'm being rude.

It takes a lot to make my mom angry, so I really don't know why she's so mad because of this. Help?

  • My best friend just said that my crush is unattractive. What should I say back to her?

So, one of my closest friends and I were texting each other, and we started talking casually about my crush, and laughing at funny things he's done in the past. I was just joking about how he likes to act like he's all "hot" and stuff in a really exaggerated way. Then, she said that he wasn't cute, but in a serious way (I know when she's being serious), and I responded with this: ._.

She, in turn, said that he wasn't cute again, and I told her that she's begging for me to write a five paragraph essay on why that's not true. She replied by saying that he's not attractive ._.

Which isn't true. I think he's very good looking. He has many features that I like, like his eyes and hair and facial expressions, which I've expressed to my best friend multiple times, even before this, yet she continues to say derogatory things about his appearance (like he has a weird face ._.). On top of that, she doesn't stop talking about her crush is cuter than mine.

She knows that it upsets me whenever anyone talks bad about my crush. He is an incredible person who doesn’t deserve to have his appearance nit-picked, especially when he's adorably handsome already (XD XD). So, my question is, what do I say to her? She already knows that I think he's good looking, despite what she says. How do I make her stop saying bad things about him? She's a pretty good friend, and I do like her a lot, but sometimes she acts a little odd when it comes to crushes. Thanks for the help~!!

  • Is it okay to write and publish a personal, life story on Wattpad?

Okay, so, I have a story written on Wattpad, and it's 5 chapters so far. The category is under Romance/Teen Fiction, and all of my readers (it has about 200 reads so far) think it's fictional, completely made up, and not real. Except...it IS real. The entire story is true. It's the complete story of my seventh grade year, which just ended a few days ago.

I was just wondering, how ethical is this? Lately, I've been feeling as if publishing this story isn't moral. I'm using fake names, and the location is different (it's still set in the same state, but the area has been changed), with a different school name, different town name, etc., except a lot of things in the story are very personal about myself. AND as the story progresses, a lot of personal things about my friends will be revealed, too.

I know that everyone thinks this is fictional, but anyone who reads it who actually knows me and goes to my school will know how nonfiction it actually is. Trust me. It's obvious. Plus, they can probably tell who wrote it, because my "claim to fame" at school is writing a lot.

I just want to know, is it okay for me to do this? My best friend knows that I'm writing this, but she doesn't know it's on Wattpad. I don't want to tell her, either, because I'm afraid she might get mad at me, even if she's read the whole thing so far through email, and she hasn't been in the story much yet. The story isn't spiteful to people, but some parts have negative comments about my classmates.
