    Critique conformation?

Background info: I adopted this mare planning for a 2 year (or more) project for her to lose weight, bring up her back and gain muscle. She came 200 pounds over weight and with bad riding (hence the (fixable) slightly sway back) for all 14 years of her life. She's lost weight and her back has been brought up a bit. She's a American Warmblood (SaddlebredxHolstiener)

  • TI-84 Plus calculator graph not working?

Every time I type something into the Y= or make a table and press graph it will say ERR: WINDOW RANGE

    1: Quit

It doesn't matter if I press graph or ZOOM then 9:ZoomStat. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I'm not savvy with calculators.

  • Anybody know this video/song remix?

I'm posting this in the horse and music section because i want to find a song that was used in a horse video I saw.

The video started out with a slow song with a grey picture of a rider and horse explaining something then turns into something more upbeat. I know the song is slow at first then becomes more upbeat, one song is a Ke$ha song (die young?).

There are many different songs and I know it's a long shot but I wanted to know if anyone else knew this remix.

  • My mare has her ears forwards most the time while we ride...?

So when I ride my horse she usually has her ears perked forwards. If I give her a que she'll put them back to listen to me for a second then back forwards. Is this a bad sign (not listening ect.)? She listens to my ques and we work well but I just noticed last Thursday (I know.. DON'T LOOK DOWN! I have my trainer to tell me that..) that her ears are perked forwards. Thanks for the answers.

  • Is there any hope? (Girth situation)?

I have a leather and fleece (I think) girth. So I have been riding western because I haven't learned english yet (Girth came with horse). So carrots also came with my horse and a got her a little while ago. Basically the carrots rotted right on top of the fleece of the girth. It looks crusty and fix able but I am not sure. What do you think? Should I just get a new girth or is there a way to clean this (And if there is please share your ideas)? Thank you.

  • What is a Saddlebred x Holsteiner considered?

My mare is a Saddlebred Holsteiner cross (sire saddlebred dam Holsteiner if it matters) My instructor (who knows the horse and it's past) said she is a American Warmblood so I have been calling her that. I was doing some research (I am not a big smarty pants in the breed section xD) and saw that some people dont consider saddlebreds warmbloods. Her sire was register Sporthorse and dam not sure but her foals have been registered American Warmbloods. So my question is is my mare considered a American Warmblood or not?

It doesnt matter to me if she is or not because when I adopted her I didn't know she could even be considered a Warmblood until my instructor told me and then the research sparked my curiosity. Thanks for the answers!

  • Is this right or wrong? And if it is wrong please tell me how to do it correctly..?

So my horse arrived yesterday and we spent all the time on the ground. She was very patient with me (I was learning how to stop, back, and turn with her since they never pulled on the rope. They wiggled it to stop her and back her and she would come with you when you turned) But when it came time to sign the papers I was trying to undo her leadrope from her rope halter but it had a weird clip that I have never used before on it. After some research I am pretty sure it is called a quick release clip and is mostly used for trailers and cross ties. It looks like this-

    http://www.dressagedeluxe.co.uk/CMS/UPLOADS/SHOP/I...

    http://media.robinsonsequestrian.com/media/catalog...

So I am guessing, now, that all you do to make is come off is pull down and it will open? Please correct me if I am wrong, I just haven't seen these before.

  • 2 questions (One about halter/leadrope 2nd about herdbound)?

    1. Did your first horse come with it's halter and leadrope and did you get a new one?

    2. My new horse is coming (SO EXCITED!) anytime in the next 3 weeks, she is going to be in the pasture with the horse I currently ride. Since they will be the only two horses in there and are going to be ridden together (my sister is advancing to the horse I ride) will they most likely get herd bound? And if so is there any way I can try to prevent them being herdbound?

    Thank You.

  • (US) Saddle King Brand?

So I am looking for saddles, but this is my first time. I found a saddle that I really like but it is a saddle king brand and I cannot remember if they had bad or good reviews. It is a blue ostrich barrel saddle with butterfly tooling. I have seen a saddle like it in a tack shop and another at a tack swap but I did not have to buy a saddle then. I know how to fit the horse ect ect and my intructor is going to make sure it will fit to but I do not want to pay $600 (that is how much there asking) for a saddle that wont last. Thanks please don't be rude/mean.

  • Starting to canter more?

So I got to canter for the first time on a horse with a large canter. I use to canter on a older scholie but anybody could ride his canter :D. So my instructor was talking about how her (the horse) right lead will be a little more diffucult to ride and such but was making it sound like I was going to get to canter her more often (which, trust me, I have wanted to do for awhile) What do you guys think? Also, does anyone have any tips on keeping your bum down in the saddle while canter with a horse who has a big canter?

P.S. I have been riding since the middle/end of november 2012 so I am a beginner. I think the reason I am just now cantering is because (and my instructor said) she gets nervous to have people start cantering and I needed to get used to and perfect my horses springy trot. lol Also have been working on groundwork things like lunging, cleaning stalls, ect ect

Please no mean/rude comments thank you

  • Eventing prospects and how much would you offer?

So I have narrowed my search down on two horses. One is a 16hh appaloosa gelding. He is 15-18 years old and is a rescue, but very sweet and beginner safe. (I don't think he was abused before) The second is a dapple grey thoroughbred gelding who is 17hh. The thoroughbred gelding is about 11 years old (born in 2002) I'm stuck on which one. I really like the appaloosa gelding but not sure if he will be able to do eventing I also really like the thoroughbred though. Which one would you choose?

Here is a photo of each of them-

    http://rebelsequinefeedlotsales.org/dm/cache/e7152... (appaloosa)

    http://img.equinenow.com/equine/data/photos/694626... (thoroughbred)

The thoroughbred says make an offer. So what would you offer?

    His info:

He can go any direction. He had some dressage training before the current owners bought him but they use him for trails. They have taken him to saddle club plays nights and he has no problem in a arena. He loves to jump and never seems to get tired. Registered with jokey club. Mellow and eager to please. He loads, ties, bathes, and great with his feet.

    Thanks! (Please no rude/mean comments)

P.S. Before I make a final decision I'll go look at both of them. :D

  • What do people mean "confident rider"?

So.. I was looking online and noticed a lot of people say that the horse needs a "confident rider". What does this mean? A beginner could be confident so would that mean it could ride the horse? When people say this I get confused and think that they mean intermediate and up but what are your guyes thoughts on it?

  • conformation for an eventer?

I really like this mare. (My instructor is looking for horses since she may buy my lease horse) But I want to do cross country (eventing) but that won't be for a while (as I am not going to lie and say i'm experienced because I am a begginer) So what do you think about her?

  • Horse taking the bit?

The horse I currently ride was perfect the first time I bridled her. But now she will put her head up and try to avoid the bit. She doesn't toss or back up or anything just does not like the bit. She has been off since December of 2012 and just started getting more exercised since the beginning of April (this month). It doesn't take long to get the bit on her just a extra minute at most just by simply holding her head while bridling but I want to show her that it is not so bad. Thanks. Please no rude/mean comments.

  • First Lease Horse? (20 characters)?

Okay.. so next month I will be leasing my first lease horse, a beautiful holsteiner thoroughbred cross mare. So I have a few different questions that someone with experience may be able to answer. The halter they currently are using for her does not fit her, it is to small and I can barely put it on with the first hole so I was wondering if I could buy her a halter that would be more comfortable for her. My second question is.. what is it like to lease a horse/lease horse for first time? I have meant her in person and really liked her but today was my first chance to ride her and I loved it! She had amazing ground manners and was very patient with me (I am a beginner and it was my first time using a english bridle instead of western.) So I know that I am going to be leasing her for awhile (month to month but were planning on about 6 months at least) Third (and final) question is she is up for sale. The owners have not done much with it but she is still in the market and I don't want to fall in love with a horse that will just be sold so is there anything I could do? Please no rude/mean comments. Thank you in advance!

  • Horse herdbound rubbing off?

So when I buy my horse we are going to board at my aunts house. Her horses are very bonded and get 'anxiety' when they take one out and not the other, so they both have to be caught (and one is not easy to catch... at all!) together and then taken out. So my question is when I board my horse their will he/she get this way? The horse I really like right now is not herd bound and loves attention but (sadly) not easy to catch which I am willing to work with if I end up getting him. I am just wondering if it rubs off on other horses or not or if depends on the horse. Thanks for the help please no rude comments or 'your not ready for a horse' things my uncle grew up with them and I have an instructor thanks.
