  • Should I go out to an onshore oil rig looking for a job?

I'm trying to get a job in the energy field, a drilling job or fracking. I'm planning on driving out to Odessa to find try to find one. I'm having no luck online. I'm filling out application after application, most are entry level and no luck. I'm even overqualified for a lot of the job posts, just no experience. Someone told me I should just go up to a few rigs and tell them you're looking for work. Is that a good idea?

  • How would I fix over tightened torque converter bolts?

I rebuilt my transmission and after installing it I was tightening up the torque converter to flex plate bolts. I heard a pop from the torque converter and went on google and found out there should be a space in between the torque converter and the flex plate so you have to be careful tightening these bolts up. Is there a way to fix this without removing the transmission?

  • Do I need to replace the channel gaskets out of the valve body for an automatic transmission?

I'm rebuilding my transmission and it's a CD4E out of a 2001 mazda 626. I took the valve body apart to install a shift kit (Looks like it already has one). I think it's called the channel gaskets or the accumulator gaskets but it's the gaskets that go inside the valve body when taking it apart, They look good but do I need to replace them anyways?

  • Any transmission guys out there?

I have a 2001 Mazda 626 with 165000 miles on it. My transmission was slipping from 2nd to 3rd and after that it wouldn't go back into gear. I thought the filter might be clogged but you have to tear into the transmission to get to it. I flushed it out (not in reverse). I just drained and refilled and disconnected the supply line into a bucket while adding fluid until I saw clean fluid come out. It fixed it and ran normal. 2 days later it's doing the same thing. I start it up and it goes into gear. It comes out of gear and wont go back in. After you shut the car off for a minute or so and start it back up, it can go into gear and it comes out of gear in about 20 seconds and wont go back in until you shut the car off and restart it. I think I unclogged the filter enough to run for a while but not good enough. Would a reverse flush fix this? I tried replacing the range sensor and it acts the same.

  • Has anyone gotten their Merchant Mariner Credential?

I'm applying for mine and I have a few questions about the application. Can the character references be anyone? How should they be worded? In the "Type of Transaction" do I just check off MMD? What should I put for the "Grade of License"? (Tonnage, waters, propulsion mode, horsepower, etc) I want to be a QMED-Oiler or a Able Seaman. In the criminal history do I just list convictions or all charges? Sorry for so many question, I just don't want to mess this up. Thanks for any help.

  • 93 Cadillac Deville compressor not coming on codes F11 F12?

I retrofitted the A/C system to R134A and it was blowing fine and now the compressor is not coming on. The codes are high and low side temperature circuit problem. I used the on board diagnoses and checked the readings and they both read the same. One started to raise and so did the other. I also got a F30 CPP to BCM data problem but I just figured that was just cause from the other problem. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why isn't my radio turning on?

I have a 93 Cadillac Deville and the radio won't turn on. The clock light on the radio is on and when I press the power button I can hear a small short noise but it's not turning on. I checked the fuse and it's fine, the cigarette lighter works, I also can't put a cassette tape in the radio. Any help will be appreciated.

  • How can I get a dealer's license without a lot? And how hard is it to get a lot?

I'm a certified technician and I want to start my own business with buying cars that don't run, fix and flip them. I'm just starting off so how can I get a dealer's license when I'm starting off in my own garage from home? And what would it take to eventually get a lot?

  • How to retrofit a 1993 Cadillac Deville"?

Are there any other steps other than changing to service ports, vacuuming the system and recharging it with R134a? This guy told me that it would screw things up because it's automatic a/c.

  • Where and how can you buy broke down cars/cars that don't run?

I"m trying to build a business by buying cars that don't run and fixing them and re selling them. I've bought a few from some friends and made huge profits. I"m getting my dealers license but I can't find a sight to buy them. I see plenty on where you can sell yours. I've tried craigslist and found very few. I want to buy at least three a week.

  • How big of a deal would it be to forge someone's signature?

I bought a car a while back and it broke down right after I got it. Recently I fixed it up and am trying to sell it so I went to register the title into my name. The guy I bought it from signed in the wrong place and it was so long ago I don't know how to get a hold of him. Would it be that big of a deal to just sign his name in the right spot?
