  • 1989 Chevy celebrity 2.5 TBI has poor fuel spray at idle. bad fuel pump?

I have to spray carb cleaner in order to start car. Once started car wont rev falls dead on its face. Remove air cleaner lid and see 2 year old fuel injector drizzling instead of spraying cone like. I rev the car the fuel drizzle stops and car is about to die. Car dies in gear and revved. Car has new fuel sock and 2 year old fuel filter that I can blow through. My car has 164000 miles. Fuel pump is original is my fuel pump or pressure regulator bad?

    Thank you

  • 1988 Chevy celebrity 2.5l wont run unless I feather the throttle but still dies any way.?

I have replaced the following parts over the last couple years. The map sensor, Fuel filters/ fuel sock, ignition module connector, ignition module new, coil packs new CTS connector/ sensor, ECM, and IAC which is used. The engine is from a 1988 Pontiac grand am LE.

The car has drove nice since it has been some time but is cranked every week. One day later on after idling the car had a bad miss. No check engine light/ codes. Cranked up car later the car would not start. It would run good for a few second beautifully no miss until a few seconds it would miss fire and back fire through the intake. I swapped the ignition module under warranty. Car started up better. Also when this happened very first time I swapped ECMS with a good one. Still no go.

I checked the following sensors the CTS which has a good 5 volt reference. I back probe it and the DVOM says 1.5 to 1.8 cold. I thought it should be close to 3 volts cold. I checked the wiring. The map sensor was checked. With key on I have 4.7 volts. When I apply vacuum it goes down also checked wiring still no go, swapped with a good Map sensor no run. Checked TPS, it is new I replaced it a year ago and again under warranty it is under 1.25v and at 4.00v WOT. Checked vacuum hoses all good. Manually fired fuel injector with fuel pump jumped sprays perfectly. Good fuel pressure. ECM grounds seem good. IAC works when the diagnostic terminals are jumped.

Please help had car for 6 years 17 now Thank you for your time.
