I'm a big fan of logic, evidence, and reality, as opposed to wishful thinking and blind faith. I've studied the mind and I know how easily we can be fooled, so I'm more likely to trust objective, scientific evidence than my own flawed perceptions and memory. Because of that, I do a lot of research on everything from biology and computer science to religion and the paranormal, in order to form a more accurate understanding of reality. I also enjoy helping other people, so hopefully all of that research has paid off and I helped you with your question(s). Have fun, and don't be afraid to learn something new, or even something contrary to what you had previously believed! :-)

  • Do you want truth or simply validation here?

Some people asking questions here on Yahoo! Answers seem less interested in finding out the truth than in simply finding validation for particular answers they already believe. If someone asks, "Do you believe X is evil?" you can be fairly certain that they're going to choose a "yes" answer for their accepted answer.

So, my real question is, how do you get people to accept answers here that are true when they are not the ones they're obviously predisposed to choose? What techniques work best? If you are able to, please include links to examples where a response was chosen as the accepted answer by the asker, despite it being the opposite of what they apparently wanted to hear.

    Thanks.
