What can I do about my picky eating?
I'm a 20-year-old guy and I'm just starting to get scared. My sense of taste is horribly acute. Eating anything beyond simple foods makes me gag or want to throw up, and the anxiety of trying new things around other people is literally debilitating. I've heard that this may be an eating disorder known as Selective Eating Disorder. There are "doctors" but they seem really sketchy to me.
I want to have a better diet. It currently consists mainly of pizza, pasta (typically sauceless), mac'n'cheese, eggs, toast, assorted fruits, chicken fingers, hot dogs, and some simple sandwiches... It just isn't healthy. My girlfriend is Filipino; she loves food and I hate how I am, both for my own sake and for hers. I'd like to live a long and healthy life. But at this point, I just don't know what I can do.
I'm looking for absolutely any piece of advice. This is a strain on my life, a strain on my health, and a strain on my relationship. It's the thing that I hate most about myself, and I really want to change it.
4 AnswersMental Health5 years agoUsing PHP to Dynamically Generate HTML?
Ok so that's kinda generic. Here's the deal. I've never worked with PHP before, but I'm fairly certain PHP is the route to go. I'm using Javascript to pull data from Google's Calendar API and stack it into a list view that I can style and customize with CSS. Great, right?
The only issue is, I'd like for it to be such that, upon clicking on one of the links that the calendar generates, I don't want it to bring me to one of Google's event pages. They're ugly and have extra info that I don't want. What I'd like to do is use PHP (and maybe Ajax/Javascript?) to grab the data from the Google event page and dump it into my own HTML tags within my own site.
So basically: Click the link, it grabs the data from Google's event page, then throws that information into a page that it generates on the spot with a custom slug (preferably the event's title, separated by dashes), and spits it back as an HTML page. And then this would be usable in conjunction with the Javascript I'm writing, so it does this all automatically without me needing to specify links and such every time I create a new gCal event.
Is this doable, and could somebody either help me out or point me towards the proper resources to figure it out? Thanks much ^_^

3 AnswersCamcorders7 years agoNYS Driver's Test Form Mixup?
So I'm an 18-year-old who recently signed up to take my driver's test. Everything went smoothly. I took Driver's Ed when I was 16, and I still had the MV-285 form that is the certificate of completion. I signed up with the MV-285.
I realized a couple days later that my MV-285 is expired, and has been since February. I knew I'd need that form, or another equivalent form, so I rushed out yesterday and took a 5-hour course to get myself an MV-278.
My issue is that I have my road test scheduled with an expired MV-285, while my valid certificate is a brand new MV-278. If I show up with the MV-278, which won't match the numbers that I signed up with, will they refuse to give me my test? If I bring the expired MV-285 with me too, would that help?

I'm planning on attempting to sell my old laptop - a 2006 Macbook Pro - for parts, since it no longer works. The problem, however, is with the Logic Board. If I were to sell the computer for parts, I'd want the hard drive to be wiped first. Since the computer won't boot, I cannot get into Disk Utility to do a full wipe. I think I can take it to a store and they'll be able to do it, but I'm not sure. Also, I think I'd be charged for that. So is there a way that I can wipe it, perhaps physically, even if I'm unable to boot?
3 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks9 years agoMotion Blur/Pixelation?
I've been using a relatively cheap camcorder (Kodak Playsport ZX5) to record some pretty high-action shots, The camcorder works fine, but the quality isn't that great; it's pretty pixel-y. The other day, I tried shooting some of said shots on a Canon Rebel EOS T3, which is mainly a photo camera, but takes videos as well. The image quality of the video was considerably higher, but there was one problem: Extreme motion blur. Like, to the point where the person's legs are virtually transparent. While there was some motion blur with the ZX5, it wasn't nearly so extreme.
Basically, what I'd like to determine: would spending $400-700 on a dedicated camcorder, such as the Canon Vixia HF R30 (I can go a pricier if I have to, but that one looked good), solve both of these problems, so I'd have a high-quality picture while also not blurring too much?
4 AnswersCamcorders9 years agoSuggestions for a Camera/Camcorder?
I'm looking for a Camera/Camcorder, hopefully in the $400-500 (I can go up to $600-700) range suitable for a range of tasks...
I'd like it to be able to take good photos, as well as shoot 720p video of at least 60FPS. It'll mainly be used for video, so the video has to be high-quality.
It should have optical zoom.
It would be preferable if it had good sound to go with it.
It would be used for things such as:
-Indoor/Outdoor photography
-Filming people doing parkour/gymnastics/martial arts (basically, things with a lot of action)
-Shooting home-made moves/short films
I don't exactly know what direction I'm going. Can anybody suggest a camera (or if there's more than one that might work, some cameras) in my price range that might do what I need it to?
1 AnswerCamcorders9 years agoAdobe Photoshop Elements + 13" Macbook Pro?
I just switched from a 2007 15" Macbook Pro to a brand new 13" Macbook Pro. However. my Photoshop Elements software doesn't seem to work properly; it's still formatted for a 15" screen and I cannot find anyplace to change the display preferences for the program.
Can anybody give me any suggestions on how I can fix this? Or am I doomed to be unable to use my program unless I switch to a more expensive computer?
3 AnswersSoftware9 years agoCode Geass Chess -- Characters?
I have a friend who makes clay figures of anime characters, and also makes chess sets from said clay figures.
I'm a fan of Code Geass, and I figured since Chess is kind of Code Geass's signature thing, it'd be cool to have a Code Geass chess set.
What I'm trying to figure out is who'd be on each side.
He's told me he'd be able to make knightmares out of clay, so that wouldn't be a problem.
Right now, I'm trying to figure out who everyone is, and then put them in the correct places later.
SIDE 1:
Lelouch (King), CC/C2, Tohdoh (Zangetsu), XingKe (Shenhu), Kallen (Guren), Ohgi, Diethard, and Burais for pawns. That leaves one space open for another character.
SIDE 2: Schneizel (King), Suzaku (Lancelot), Cornelia (Gloucester), and Sutherlands for pawns. That leaves five spaces open for other characters.
Could anybody help me out? Also, if you'd be able to suggest what positions (Queen, Knight, Rook, Bishop) each person would be in, that'd be helpful.
Thanks! ^_^
3 AnswersComics & Animation9 years agoOptimizing Memory on 2007 Macbook Pro?
I'm running a Macbook Pro from 2007. With the model it is, it can handle 3GB RAM. It originally had 2GB RAM. I just bought two sticks of 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 SDRAM and put them both into this computer. It recognizes that it has 4GB RAM, but it can only use 3. My question is, would it be better optimized to have a 2GB and a 1GB stick in? Or both 2GB sticks? I'm not sure if the 1GB sticks are PC2-6400 or not.
2 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoIs electronicsoftware.net legit?
I'm looking to buy Final Cut Express at a pretty cheap price, and eBay and Amazon just weren't cutting it. Upon doing a google search, I came across http://www.electronicsoftware.net/ which I can't seem to find any dirt on anywhere. Some things it looks like it's selling at full price or 50% off, but then I see that I could buy Adobe Master Collection CS5.5 for Mac for under $400. That's just a little bit ridiculous, isn't it? I was wondering if anybody knew whether or not this site was real and legal?
1 AnswerOther - Internet10 years agoProblems setting up Boot Camp?
So I'm trying to get my Mac to run Windows XP because there are a few programs out there that aren't supported by mac that I'd like to use. I've tried Virtualbox, but it runs too slowly within my mac's environment and also won't fully run the programs. So I decided to graduate from Virtualbox to dual booting Snow Leopard and XP. But when I try to run the Boot Camp Assistant, it tells me that it can't partition the disk and that I should back my files up, go into Disk Utility, format the hard drive to be a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) hard drive. But it's ALREADY formatted to be exactly that! I'm not exactly sure what's wrong, but I was hoping maybe somebody could shed some light on what the problem might be?
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoWhich is better - FC3 Plus or RetroN 3?
Long story short, my friend and I recently found a bunch of really old video games for the NES, SNES, and Genesis in his basement. We'd now like to play them, but we don't have the money to buy all three systems.
I've heard good and bad things about both the FC3 Plus and the RetroN 3, and I was wondering which was better for playing all three. Price and controllers aren't an issue (if it's the FC3 Plus, I've heard good things about their controllers, if it's the RetroN 3, I'd buy legit controllers for each system). I think I've heard that the FC3 Plus won't play certain games for the NES, or that the sound and graphics are a bit wonky sometimes with the RetroN 3. I was wondering if anyone could really shed light on this and compare the two and tell me which is better? I'd really, really appreciate the help.
3 AnswersOther - Games & Gear10 years agoAnime Suggestions -- Reasons and Description?
Can anybody suggest some good anime for me to watch, and explain to me why you're suggesting it? And maybe give me a little description of it? I've been kinda at a loss for anime to watch lately. I have a little list going of things I should watch, but none of it seems that interesting.
My favorite anime ever is Death Note, hands down. Some other favorites of mine are Code Geass (both seasons), FMA: Brotherhood, and D.Gray-man (though I was pissed that it didn't finish the story; I hate reading manga >.<). Can anybody suggest some things to watch, and give me a reason why you think I should see it based on what I've already said I like? Thanks!
7 AnswersComics & Animation10 years agoAnime Picker? http://anime.madwuv.net/?
I'm a pretty frequent anime watcher, but lately, I've found that I'm running out of anime to watch and my friends and brother are running out of suggestions for me!
I decided to search for an "anime picker" so to speak - something where you can rate anime and get suggestions based off of your ratings. I actually found something, a lot of people talking about a site at http://anime.madwuv.net/ but the link seems to not exist.
So I'm stuck. If there's another anime picker, or anime finder, or whatever you wanna call it, somewhere, I'd love to know about it! If the site I mentioned above is only temporarily down, I can always go back to it later when it's back up, and I'll be fine. Or if it was moved to a different location, that'd be great to know.
Thanks!

3 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWho did the subs for FMA Brotherhood on Hulu?
The first two times I watched through Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, I watched them on Hulu. The subs are better than the dub, so don't bother telling me to just watch the English dub. I'd like to watch FMA again. The problem is, the subs aren't on Hulu anymore. I know a few other sites, but none of the subs are the same, and it's been getting on my nerves when they say "Eastern Alchemy" instead of "Alkhestry", which is just one example among others. If Hulu did their own subs, then I guess I'm out of luck. But if anybody knows if it was a specific organization or group that I could search for the subs by, I'd be very thankful if you could tell me!
1 AnswerComics & Animation1 decade agoAny Anime Suggestions?
I'm an anime fan. I'm looking to start watching a new series, but I really don't know what to watch. Death Note is, hands down, my favorite series. FMA Brotherhood is probably a close second.
Other anime that I've watched and enjoyed, but to a lesser extent, include:
- Elfen Lied
- Blood+
- Dragonball Kai
- Dragonball
- Monster
- FMA (not brotherhood)
I'd love to hear your suggestions on what I should watch! Also, please include if I should watch the sub or dub. I've enjoyed different ones for different series.
11 AnswersComics & Animation1 decade agoDoes Adobe Premiere Elements have "sounds scrubbing"?
I'm taking a class in school where we're using Adobe Premiere. I found that, when running through some tests of the program, I had the functionality to use sound scrubbing for precise audio/video coordination.
As a student, Adobe Premiere is a bit out of my price range. However, Adobe Premiere Elements ins well within it. Thus, I was wondering if Premiere Elements had the sound scrubbing feature? Sound scrubbing is very important to me, so that's one of the first things I look for in a video editor.
