Help with sinus infection?
So, I'm pretty sure I have a sinus infection, but since I'm new to the area none of the doctors will see me for a few days and in the mean time I feel like ****. I have a very sore throat mostly on the right side, very painful to swallow. My ears feel full and pop several times a day with little relief. I am congested on both sides, although at times only one side. I have a hoarse non-productive cough and a tickle in the left lower side of my throat. My teeth are beginning to ache (this is why I feel it is most likely a sinus infection), and I have a throbbing headache through my forehead and right side of head including ears and jaw. I can't taste anything and for the most part, my tongue is numb. Yesterday I had two instances where sinuses bled. I've had this happen in the past, they cauterized it, and I was fine after. However, this time when I bled it was sudden, bright red and of thin consistency and lasted for over 20 minutes each time. Both times I iced the bridge of my nose while standing upright. However, when the blood started going down my throat I bent over and allowed it to drain into the sink instead because it made me nauseous.
I've been taking nyquil several times a day and trying to sleep a lot to let my body repair itself, as well as sudafed to help with congestion. My neti pot has become my best friend, although some people are telling me I should lay off of it...any ideas? I've been using ayr gel on the inside and around my nose to keep it from drying out, drinking theraflu tea and lots of orange juice. I read that coke helps your throat feel better, and all that did was sting going down. I also tried salt water but it made me vomit. I've been trying to take it really easy, my husband is doing most of the housework while I am sick. And yet, I have only very temporary relief-mostly from the neti-pot, and it only lasts for about 10 minutes. I really don't know what to do at this point, every day I get another symptom...this started with a sore throat almost a week ago. I did do some traveling in this time, I was on the east coast when I got sick, and am now on the west coast where I currently live. Please...any ideas? I know...see a doctor. I have an appointment but like I said they won't see me for a few days, and I have tri-care so I can't just go to the ER whenever I feel like it. I'm desperate and will try anything.

2 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoHow are Utilities paid at Ft. Huachuca?
Okay, this might sound really stupid, but I'm trying to get some information on how utilities are paid at Ft. Huachuca. Currently my husband and I live off post at Ft. Gordon, so we receive BAH which covers our rent and utilities. So since you don't get BAH living on post, do utilities and electric come out of pocket or is that included in what's provided by the Army? I know cable, phone, and internet are out of pocket, I just want to know about basic utilities-electric, water, heat...
Thanks in advance!
2 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoMilitary allotment did not go into account?
My husband set up an allotment to go into our joint account for 2000 bucks a month. It was supposed to start today, putting 1000 in, but we did not get it. The money is also not in his primary account. Any ideas where this money is?
1 AnswerMilitary1 decade agoLiving together at AIT?
My man's away at basic training for the Army. We're getting married over Christmas exodus, and today he called me and said that I'll be able to live with him at AIT. He's going fo Microwave Communications, so he'll be at AIT for 20 weeks. Is this info correct?
7 AnswersMilitary1 decade agoHow do I throw a surprise party?
My boyfriend is leaving for basic training at the end of the month, so my room mate and I are planning a party for him. We're telling him there's a Halloween party at my friend's house so he is dressed and ready to go, then the plan is to surprise him at my apartment. I'm just running into a problem here. Several people have told me they will be here but later than the time we ask. I considered pushing back the time, but I don't think that will work because other people can only stay a few hours before leaving for work and I would like him to see all of his close friends once more before he goes even if it's not all at the same time.
So how do I go about the whole surprise element if only a few people will be here?
1 AnswerEntertaining1 decade agoAre these things related, or am I falling apart?
I'm a short 23 year old female of average weight. I have been taking Strattera 60mg once daily for almost two years now. I have had abnormal periods since I got off the pill a few years ago, but within the last 6 months they have regulated. So here's my concerns...there are several medical issues going on and my doctor gives me little answers, and to be honest I'm not even sure if they're really that big a deal. Because there is more than one thing going on, I don't want to rush to my doctor every time I don't feel well, and be viewed as a hypochondriac.
-the back of my neck has been incredibly achey within the last week. At first I thought I had slept wrong, but it's not getting any better. It's exceptionally painful when I'm tired.
-I just got my period (I think), but it was very short, very light, and appeared more ruddy than red. I also had no cramps. Usually they are fairly heavy, bright red, and I'm very crampy.
-Constant headaches. Not really bad ones, but they're in my forehead and they're very persistant. Excedrin and Ibuprofen do not help. I try to steer clear of Acetaminophen because of complications with the liver.
-I get sick to my stomach most every night around the same time. First I get very cold, then light headed, and then I vomit. I'll feel perfectly fine a few minutes later.
-My body is achey-not as bad as my neck, but a general worn out feeling ALL the time.
-I can't sleep. I'm incredibly tired. But for the past week or so I can't sleep more than 4 hours unless I stay up for 24 hours. Then I can sleep for 10 or more!
Like I said, I sound like a hypochondriac, and if that's all you're going to say please don't even bother to respond, because trust me I have enough people that don't believe I'm feeling ill. I have done a little research and I don't think it sounds like the flu-though it may be, I'm no doctor. Is it possible these things are related, or just a number of aches and pains? Also please do not tell me to 'run to the doctor.' I intend to see her this week, I'm just looking for someone who might know their stuff.
Thank you.
1 AnswerOther - Health1 decade agoDoes this sound like a possible pregnancy?
Okay, so I've been having a few symptoms that I had thought meant I was just sick but everyone is insisting I'm pregnant. So, I'm just looking for someone's opinion that doesn't know me-because I think some of these people are just messing with my head to be honest.
First of all, I know what you're going to say-"just take a pg test and find out already." Agreed, but I haven't missed my period yet, it's due this week, so I'm waiting until then/if that happens.
For the past week and a half I've been getting sick literally every single night (I work 3rd shift), mostly just a queasy feeling, though there was one night that I vomitted--and then it passes about an hour or two later.
This is my biggest concern btw because there is no way this is just in my head, yanno?
For about 2 or 3 days I've been getting heartburn after every time I eat. I also have almost no urge to eat anything at all and get full very quickly lately.
Today I was sitting in the AC and suddenly got so hot and flushed, began sweating and got lightheaded and had to excuse myself to go outside for some air. When I was out I called my doctor's office who said they would call back but it was towards the end of their working day and I never got a call.
Oh, also I've lost a bit of weight-not much only like 4-5 lbs--this is a big reason I think people are screwing with me about being pregnant. I have done my homework but I can't find anything that says weight loss is normal in very early pregnancy.
I've also been bloated as if I'm getting my period (I don't know, maybe I am, who doesn't love irregular periods?)
Anyway ok I know this sounds stupid because at 23 I should probably know my body better but like I said I just don't know and it is too early to take a test. Just looking for someone to tell me what this sounds like to you. I'm not looking for a medical expert, just a woman's opinion-please no men. Also so no one starts calling me a whore, I AM in a committed relationship and we both work stable good paying jobs so if pregnancy were the case we would be more than ok, so please no rudeness on this subject. Thanks in advance guys.
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoVery complicated story, please read.?
Okay, so I'm very ashamed of myself already so anyone who is going to judge me can just stop reading now. I just want honest advice. Last night I went out to the bar with my neighbors and got VERY drunk. Then we all went back to their place when the bar closed and kept drinking and just hanging out. Well, I ended up not feeling so good and asked one of them (whom I've always had a crush on) to walk me home so I didn't fall, and he said he would or I could lay on his bed. I ended up laying in his bed for awhile and he was a complete gentleman. He ended up kissing me and well...I had sex with him and spent the night. Now, here's the tricky part-I have a boyfriend who I love very much. There is no doubt in my mind that I love him so please don't tell me that if I love him I wouldn't cheat-I already know I did wrong. Also, my best friend is very attracted to this guy so I can't tell her what I did. One of my room mates is good friends with the guy so I know if he doesn't know already, he will.
So, do I tell my boyfriend and my best friend? Or do I just hope no one finds out? I can't and won't ever let this happen again. Please, some honest opinions would be great but do not judge me. I already know how horrible this is...
3 AnswersFriends1 decade agoWhat should I do if my doctor can't find anything wrong?
Okay, I'll start at the top. I'm 22 years old and I have ADHD and take 60 mg of Strattera daily. I never had any problems with it, and I don't really think it's even the problem, I just thought it might be important to note this.
The last day of my last period was February 15. I'm not on birth control. I took a pregnancy test, and it came back negative. My doctor and I have been through similar things before, but it usually was only missed for a month at a time, and hormone tests always came back fine. The only thing that ever came back abnormal was my Creatine is high, but she said this does not effect anything. When I asked her what to do this time about my period, she says I'm perfectly normal. Well, it doesn't seem quite normal to be perfectly healthy at 22, yet I'm not getting my period. I was also tested for STDs-negative.
The second part of my problem, though maybe unrelated is that I am getting these horrible persistant headaches around midnight every night (I work night shift) to the point where I feel I need to vomit, yet I don't. My neck hurts to the point that it feels that it must be cracked, yet even my chiropractor can't make it feel better. It's very hard to turn my head certain directions because of this. My fingers and toes are almost always cold as well.
If I'm perfectly healthy, why do I feel like hell? Please, serious answers only!
7 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoWhat's going on here?
So, the past few days I've been getting sick to my stomach a few hours after I wake up. I work third shift so I usually wake up around 2, and then by 4 I'm throwing up. So, I go back to sleep and when I wake up I'm fine. Then, I go to work and around 1 or 2 in the morning I get sick again. I'm also very thirsty, and drinking a lot of gatorade with the thinking that maybe it's the electrolytes? I can't keep food down, so I've opted for bagels since they're so bland, most times they stay down but that's literally like the only thing I can keep down. Just the mention of food makes me sick. I've also been sleeping a lot more to try to compensate for whatever's going on with the thought that I can 'sleep off' the sick feeling. I don't know what else to do, I missed 2 days of work last week because of this, and I can't miss anymore. I'm at my wit's end...please if you have any idea what's going on SHARE!
THANKS!!
Oh, something else that may be worth mention...I take 60 mg of Strattera daily for ADHD. I've been taking it for a year now and never had problems like this, so I doubt this is the reason, but thought I would mention it...
3 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoHow much nyquil is too much?
I'm sick and this crap is like a life saver. Today is my day off, so I'm taking a shot of nyquil every time I wake up so hopefully the coma it puts me in will knock the sick right out of me. Anyway, I know I'm taking more than the 'recommended dose,' so don't bother nagging me about that or I'll just delete your answer. All I want to know is how much of it do I need to take before it will HURT me? I only ask because I know it has acetaminophen in it, and I usually don't take ANY pills aside from ADHD meds, so I just really don't know anything about OTCs.
1 AnswerRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoIs it okay to be coughing up blood when I'm sick?
This morning I woke up around 1 am with a horrible stomach ache, but didn't think much of it so I went back to bed. At 3 I was up again, this time vomitting...again at 5. Woke up at 7, still feeling sick, so I slept most of the day until about 1pm. So now the stomach ache has mostly gone away, but I have a really bad dry cough and a bit of a runny nose. When I'm coughing, sometimes there's a little bit of blood that comes up. Is this just from the force of the coughing itself or should I be worried?
4 AnswersRespiratory Diseases1 decade agoAny ideas for a friend tattoo?
Okay, so I have 7 tattoos, and I've never needed help before, but this time, I need some ideas. My best friend and I want to get semi-matching tats, but I don't want to do anything stupid. I don't like celtic crap or any of that symbolic junk. All of my tats incorporate stars, but it's not necessary. We also have a saying WWSD? and WWMD? that may or may not be incorporated. I'm much girlier than her, she's the kind that wears black all the time and whatnot-so they don't have to be IDENTICAL...just matchy. By the way, we grew up each other-knew each other our whole lives...Does anyone have ANY ideas? Please and thank you!
3 AnswersTattoos1 decade agowhat to expect at the chiropractor?
So, I've been having back problems again. 2 years ago I had to have a breast reduction because of the amount of pain I was having in my upper back. Well, now it's in my lower back, mostly on the right side, but every morning it hurts until I crack it...Anyway, I made an appointment with the chiropractor for tomorrow because I could barely move today...what should I expect? I have heard so many bad things about them, I just don't know what else to do...btw, I'm only 22...
6 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoIs it possible I broke my hip?
I'm 22 years old, and yesterday I lost my footing and fell down the last 5 or 6 steps of my basement. They're wooden steps, and pretty sturdy-in case this is important...Anyway, I fell and landed pretty hard on my right side-the upper part of my right butt cheek basically. I must have screamed pretty loud because my mother heard me 2 stories above and ran down-she thought I had broken my tail bone until she realized where I fell. Anyway, as bad as the huge bruise is, that's not what I'm concerned about. It's my left side that's bothering me. My hip is in extreme pain, especially when going from sitting to standing or vice versa. Standing and sitting also hurt very much. Walking is uncomfortable. The pain goes around my hip joint, down about 6 or 7 inches from my hip on my outer leg and around into my groin. I've literally been in so much pain that I've taken percocet-which normally knocks me on my butt for a day at a time-with no relief. Any idea what's going on here?
5 AnswersInjuries1 decade agoShould I go to the ER?
Last night I was at a friend's house when he got mad at me and told me to leave. He had driven me there so the only way I could get home was to call someone or to walk (he lives about 5 miles from my house). I wasn't dressed to be walking-flip flops and a light hoodie and sweatpants, and it was below 30 degrees here-mind you it was 2 am, what a JERK! Anyway, I got about a mile and a half until a friend found me and now I feel like garbage. My ears hurt, my head is pounding, and worst of all I can't shake this chill I have all over my body-especially my feet. My boyfriend is worried I might be getting pneumonia. What should I do (besides kick my EX-friend in the nads)? Should I go to the hospital or just try to wait it out? It's been 15 hours since and I'm still freezing...
