  • Common themes in The House on Mango Street, The Color Purple, and Bastard Out of Carolina?

I m writing a paper for my literature class but am having a tough time choosing a topic. These are the three books I can write about, but I can choose two of them if the theme does not fit all three. All ideas and suggestions are welcome! Thanks so much in advance!!

  • Good books/stories for summarizing?

I'm working on a project for my education class where I have to plan a lesson and demo it for the class. I want to do summarizing a story, but I don't know what story would be good to use. I'm planning this lesson for 8th graders, so I think it would be good to use a short story (very short-like can be read in 5 mins or less) or a children's book. Any and all ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance :)

  • What are some examples of speech communities?

I have to write a short analysis of a speech community (can be online) for my linguistic anthropology class, but I'm having a hard time coming up with speech communities. Any and all ideas are welcome.

  • What could this be? Please help I'm really starting to worry?

It's painful for me to have sex or masturbate, I'm really dry down there, my inner labia is swollen, and there's a slight discharge and odor at times. Has anybody else had this problem? Could it be an infection? An STD? Should I call a doctor?

  • What should I get my boyfriend for valentines day?

I'm in a long distance relationship. We met online in the end of August/beginning of September and have been inseparable ever since. We've been dating for a little over 2 months but we've never met in person. We've decided to mail each other presents for Valentine's Day and I have no idea what to get him. I've wanted to write him a love letter for as long as we've been talking and I really like to bake, so I was thinking maybe cookies and a letter. Is that a good idea? Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

  • AP calc final project?

I have to create a final project for my AP calculus class but I have no idea what to do. My teacher wants us to use a topic from calculus (related rates, volumes of revolution, etc.) to build/create something. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • How to seduce someone?

I'm super attracted to this guy and I think he's attracted to me too. We hang out and talk a lot so we're not awkward with each other. And we've kissed before, among other things. But he is not a very serious person and almost everything he says is a joke. So I'm not sure how to come across as being serious about wanting to hook up with him. I honestly can't think of anything other than "you're hot let's bang" and I wouldn't really expect that to work. So any and all (*legitimate*) suggestions are welcome :) Thanks so much in advance!

  • How can I talk to a guidance counselor about this?

I've recently begun to develop a sex life and I have a lot of questions and worries, not only about the technical and physical aspects, but involving the mental and emotional aspects as well. I'm not willing to talk to my parents about this (we aren't very close and it hasn't ever come up. I'm just not comfortable with it at all and it is completely out of the question). Also, being a junior in high school, none of my friends have enough experience to help me. So my question is, I plan to go to the guidance counselor, but how should I go about bringing this up? I'm generally a very shy person and I feel rather awkward about this and would have absolutely no clue what to say but I really have nowhere else to go. Would they be able to help me or would they refuse? Could I get in trouble for mentioning things like strip poker or would the confidentiality of the situation cover that?

  • Would the guidance counselor be able to help me with this?

I have a question about something sex related. I'm really not comfortable talking to my parents and none of my friends have enough experience to help me. Considering they are required to keep everything confidential, would it be a good idea to talk to a guidance counselor? Or a teacher? Would they be able to help me or would they refuse to? Also, could I get in trouble for admitting to plying strip poker and technically asking for help to be sexually active by getting advice about birth control?

  • How to tell a guy I'm into him?

There's this guy I'm good friends with. I kinda like him, but neither of us want a relationship. We would both rather be friends with benefits and I think he might be sorta into me too. And we've already done some stuff so it wouldn't be really awkward for us to be together. But I don't know how to subtly say "hey I think we should hook up sometime". What do you think I should do? Any suggestions are welcome :)

  • I like this guy and I don't know what to do?

There's this guy I really like, but I like him in a different way than I've ever liked anyone else. All I want to do is sit around and play video games and stuff. We have the same sense of humor and he's a great friend of mine and I don't know how to tell him this without seeming desperate. Is it possible to say "I want to play video games and make out with you" without making it seem like I'm trying to hard to be "not like other girls"? I feel like stereotypes have made it rather difficult to just be me without it seeming like I'm trying so hard to be different. What should I do?

  • Reddish brown discharge between periods?

I got my period 2 weeks ago and shouldn't be due for another 2-3 weeks. But for the past couple days I've. Been getting some reddish brown discharge. It isn't heavy enough to be a period though so I'm wondering what it is. Could this be ovulation? Is this normal? This has never happened before...

  • Is it too early to bring this up?

My boyfriend and I will be going out 2 weeks tomorrow. We've been out twice and made out but haven't taken it any further than that. I don't want anything to move too fast, but I want to know his thoughts and what he's comfortable with. Is it too early to bring it up? Or should I not bring it up at all and just let it happen? BTW, I'm 16 and he's 18 (I'm a junior and he's a senior) if that makes any difference
