  • why did Yahoo mail let its security certificate expire?

i've been blocked from Yahoo mail several times over the past few days due to certificate errors...internet explorer warns me that i proceed to the site (not recommended) not to enter any information that could be used by the presumably phony servers...further investigation revealed the following:

certificate is from a trusted authority

the certifcate has expired or is not yet valid (expired May 9)

certifcate name is valid, matched name of site i'm trying to view

  • what's wrong with Yahoo toolbar?

yesterday morning, after i had been working online for about two hours, my customized IE8 browser locked up for no apparent reason; i had no alternative but to close that window using task manager...however, on closing that working window and attempting to reopen it, i noticed i had another IE window still on my taskbar that didnt show on my task manager (a Fed website that i use all the time)...since i was unable to reopen my home page (yahoo), i figured that phantom window (also locked up) was the cause, and proceeded to reboot...

even after rebooting, i could not open my yahoo home page (the tab sat there "connecting" for minutes)...i had no connection problems, because i was able to open several sites using chrome...next i tried changing my home page from yahoo to google and that was also unsuccessful....to make a two hour long story short, i opened hotmail from a link on my taskbar; and saw that a separate tab for yahoo toolbar opened alongside of it...figuring that an update to yahoo toolbar had caused my trouble, i disabled the yahoo toolbar and had no further trouble opening websites until i tested the yahoo toolbar again, which caused the problem to repeat...

im running a customized IE8 under Vista...suspect my browser may be incompatible with the new yahoo toolbar..

  • how do i email a screenshot?

when using windows xp and word, i was able to use the printscreen key to take a picture of my monitor screen, copy that picture into a word doc and save it to documents, then attach it to an email the recipient could see what i was viewing on my monitor; now with vista and works, i find that copying it to works and mailing leaves the resulting attachment corrupted, so i need a new method to email my monitor screen pictures...

    any suggestions?

  • can i use two browsers side-by-side?

im currently using IE8 with a dozen accelerator add-ons, which are necessary for much of what i do; but im now having trouble pasting into blogger drafts in compose mode (i have or contribute to 5 blogspots); some suggestions at google blogger help suggested i use chrome or firefox, that those using it were having no trouble pasting...i absolutely need IE8; can i run one of the others alongside it in a different window?

  • What problems will i have copying programs to a new computer?

First, can i copy customized IE8 to a new computer?

I have an old Dell 8400 -Windows XP which has been failing repeatedly, and am planing to buy a new PC today...i have copied my installed programs and my files to a flashdrive...i have recently installed IE8 and customized it, with several accelerators, etc, so i copied that too...since my new system will have Vista and IE7, can i used my customized copy of IE8 to update Internet Explorer?

Second, i have an ATT Yahoo interface with customized favorites bar, Yahoo toolbar, command bar, with all the bells and whistles;i have copied all that on to the flashdrive too...how do i get all of that back when i install the new PC?

What other problems can i expect to encounter?

  • How can we get more health care?

ill admit being behind the curve on this discussion, & unaware of the proposals on the table....but would someone please explain to me how we can get MORE healthcare by spending another trillion dollars? the number of doctors and nurses is fixed, you're not gonna magically create more healthcare professionals by spending more money, the hospital equipment and the people who know how to run it is fixed...the doctors seem to be overworked already, & there arent any collecting unemployment...you might be able to add a few more hospital beds, but that doesnt guarantee that youlll squeeze any more "healthcare" out of the system components already in place...

what seems necessary is to come up with a better way of allocating the healthcare that we have, rather than the current rationing in the hands of the insurance companies, & restrict the unnecessary procedures now being performed because they are profitable to hospital systems milking medicare...thus it would seem that the changes that need to be made should ultimately reduce the total cost of healthcare in this country...
