Car seems to lose power..Any advice?
I have a P reg Renault Scenic and just recently it feels like its losing power. It can do this whilst im travelling at speed like on a motorway or dual carriageway and also on normal 30 or 40 MPH roads but not as often. One minute im driving along and the next it feels like something is holding it back and then lets go (if that at all makes sense to anyone - the speed isnt effected at all its like it starts to struggle briefly to maintain the speed and it only lasts seconds) Its been a pain in the backside today playing up like this, My brother who sold me the car said when he had it the turbo booster needed changing and so bought a reconditioned one could this be the same thing or something else??
I will take it to a garage to get sorted but could do with a rough idea of whats wrong to try and save up for repair.
Any help and advice would be great. Thank you muchly
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhats the soonest i can book a wedding date?
Im engaged to my fiance and this past week he has ended up critcally ill in hospital (nothing terminal, had emergency major op which is going to significantly change the rest of our lives, currently in intensive care)
However i am wanting to try and arrange a hospital wedding for a couple of weeks time which, providing he carries on recovering at this rate he should be on HDU or even on another normal hospital ward by then) Can a vicar arrange to do this or do we have to wait and apply for special licences to do it in hospital?? This may sound 'odd' to want to marry someone in hospital when he will be coming home at some point but i really want to start this new chapter of our lives as man and wife and we can always renew our vows in a few years to come once he has the strength in him to do this??
Thank you for all help
2 AnswersEngagements & Weddings10 years agotwo little slits in daughters gums, could teeth be coming through?
my daughter is 20 weeks old and been teething for about a month now, for past week she has started to get really distressed and sucking on her gums - at the beginning of this week me and my sister in law noticed that she has what looks like 2 little slits on her bottom gum in the same position as what would be her front teeth. Is this a sign they are ready to start breaking through???

1 AnswerOther - Car Makes10 years ago8 week old horrible cough and full of mucus?
Ever since my daughter was born 8 weeks ago she has been very very mucusy and seems to always be 'gipping' and has a awful runny nose - for the past 6 weeks shes developed a cough that seems to be causing her pain as she ends up 'shouting' during a coughing episode. Her chest is very rattley too and you can feel this whenever you are holding her - Has anyone else had anything like this with their children before??
I have taken her to the gp's every week, give or take a few days and each and every time all they say is 'It will run its course, her chest is clear' but this is really starting to worry me and medical profesionals dont seem to be interested - ive also tried explaining that her sister was taken to a&e a few weeks before she was born with similar symptoms and the doctors also said her chest was clear when listening but upon her having an xray that showed a chest infection!
Im feeling like i have exhausted my choices for help with this at the moment any ideas what to do next - any ideas??? i took her back today and even though i begged for a xray all i got was 'Shes probably just a mucusy child and the cough is her way of keeping her lungs clear'
1 AnswerRespiratory Diseases10 years agoStarts of labour or just baby moving down?
Im 40+2 pregnant with baby number 2 and since yesterday i have been losing the plug so much more than in past weeks (to date not the bloody one) and also had diahorrea (really sorry for the way tmi) for the past few hours today however ive had tightenings on and off, not regular can be anywhere from 10 - 30 minutes apart. They wern't initially painful at all, just like baby moving but my back has started to really ache and for the past hour im starting to get pains in my bum and lower pelvis whenever i get a tightening. I went to MAU on thurs and they said then that baby wasnt engaged (she was about a month back but has popped back out) and that my cervix was thick and not dilating.
Could these tightenings and feelings be the starts of labour finally or moreso baby dropping back down in preperation? Although this is baby number 2 i have nothing to compare with as my daughter was back to back and i very muchly had back labour and nothing 'up front'
These tightenings and mild pains dont move or stop no matter if im stood up, sat down or attempt to move whilst having one. Im also starting to feeling pressure pains in my bum - but still only mild.
Thanks for any help and advice....
3 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoHow long does an induction of labour take to book?
I'm 40 weeks pregnant and have an appointment in the morning to see if my midwife can give me a stretch and sweep - she said to me however that if baby is still not engaged then she wouldn't do the procedure and just book an induction straight off. If she had to do this do they have to wait a certain length of time or do they get u in asap? Uk answers only please
2 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoWhat does 'free' mean in realation to brim?
Im 38 weeks pregnant and have been to see my midwife today she did the check to see how far down baby was engaged and has just written 'free' on my notes, i asked at the time if baby had dropped any further as at an appointment last week i was 2/5 palp (so 3/5 engaged) and she just replied 'Its fine' - i asked numerous questions today too and all she replied was 'Its fine'
Does 'free' mean that baby has popped back out again? If so my bump hasnt changed at all and if anything its still ridiculously low down and im still getting all the pelvic pains which i have been told by a different midwife is because baby was dropping so now im a tad confused. Also i asked if she could maybe check me for dilation/effacement etc and explained that my husband works nights and as i already have a toddler im really panicky on a night once he's gone that ill be left with my daughter if i do go into labour and as silly as it sounds knowing that i could be dilating/thinning or not would help me relax that bit more and she refused - when ive been checked before its been maybe 5 minutes to check start to finish, can they refuse if its requested? This is only the 2nd time ive seen this woman as my previous midwife retired, she also did answer questions straightly and did check me internally at 38 weeks as routine care......
Anyways sorry for ranting just wasnt sure on the original question.
Thanks guys
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoAm i overreacting with regards to 'labour'?
im 37 week 2 days pregnant and today ive have increased vaginal discharge (not thrush have literally been treated for that in last week) and my back is burning like mad (lower back pain) also every say 20 mins to half an hour ive noticed that when baby moves i also get a really dull achy feeling in my pelvic region and can sometimes make me jump! Ive been presuming that its definately baby moving and thinking its just the pressure pains from how far i am now but my stomach does seem to tense at the same time. I was checked last week and was told baby was 2/5 palpable. Although i do already have a daughter she was facing the 'back to back' position and all the labour pains and contractions were in my back so i dont have anything to compare it to.
My husband works nights and im alone with my little lady throughout the night so i guess im stressing that bit more - I would appreciate any answers that could put my mind at ease either way. my daughter came naturally early too, bang on 39 weeks and i have heard that 2nd babies could come earlier than first.
Thanks all for reading me witter on
2 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agorectal bleeding help?
my mum has been unwell on and off now for about 3 weeks with regular stomach cramping and occasional days where she is confined to bed with severe vomiting, fever etc - she went to her gp on monday who said he thought he had gastroenteritis or a water infection, however her water sample showed ther was nothing abnormal detected. He prescribed medication and told her to go back next week - however since Tuesday she has been laid in bed, unable to move, she cannot eat or drink anything as she is bringing it back up and she has, since yesterday started passing blood from her rectum and during the night ive been told she passed wind and blood came out then too. I do not know the colour or exact quantity of the blood shes passing as im just being kept informed by my dad on her progress. They are waiting for the gp to come and do a home visit today again but could be anytime up until 5pm!
Does anyone else know of anyone that has had similar experience? Im just very concerned that maybe she should be down at a&e instead of waiting for her own gp and obviously im worried sick about her in general - i cannot go and see her to help out as until we know definitivly what is wrong im keeping a distance as im 37 weeks pregnant.
Thank you for any help regarding this
6 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoWhat exactly is 2\5th engaged all about?
I posted a question earlier regarding possible waters breaking n I've come to be assessed at hospital and been told so far I'm 2\5th engaged. Not 100% on if that's good bad or indifferent. I understand its in relation to baby. Dropping but not sure if it means she's only just started or if she's just about dropped. Thanks for any advice
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agocan coughing cause waters to break?
Im 36 weeks pregnant and earlier on today i inhaled some spit down the wrong hole and ended up close to choking in my kitchen (am ok now) however during this episode i ended up with liquid just pouring out of me and running down my legs and making puddles on the kitchen floor, at first i thought i might have wee'd, which im still not ruling out but i am starting just get ever so mild cramping feelings in my lower abdo and got burning back pain, occasionally i get the feeling like i need to go to the toilet but i dont actually need to go, if that makes at all sense.
I lost my bloody show nearly 2 weeks ago and after having a 'sniff' to see if i could determine if i had just had a wee whilst coughing i realised there is no wee smell and it smells more sweet than anything else.
Although i already have a daughter my waters didnt break naturally with her and they had to be broken on delivery suite and id had an epidural so didnt feel anything.
Could someone shed some light on if coughing could have caused my waters to go and if it sounds like they could have or if im just worrying for nothing.
thank you
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow often do you see midwife during second pregnancy?
Im 36 weeks pregnant and had my first booking appointment at 8 weeks, to date during this pregnancy ive only seen my midwife 4 times, the last time was nearly 5 weeks ago with my next appointment in 2 more weeks time.
Is this normal for a second pregnancy? With my first i had some minor complications and i have a 9 miscarriage history.
Thank you for any input
4 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoCan a doctor prescribe me any medication for the final 11 weeks im at work before i go on Maternity Leave?
Im currently 19 weeks pregnant with my second baby - Due to the nature of my job i have had to be moved projects (Im a support worker) as the project that is my main role has violent service users and has been deemed unsafe to work at. I have been with this new project for 4 months now and all the boss seems to do is bully me - He likes to single me out and is constantly putting me down all the time and saying that him and the company director are going to investigate any midwife appointments that i have had whilst with that side - i have offered to bring in my maternity notes with all relevent times and dates etc on but his reply is 'Its too late for that now' (I only found out about this today and its the first mention of anything) There is loads of other little, petty things that he likes to do also like telling me that it shouldnt of been my problem to look after my daughter when she had swine flu over christmas - i should of got someone else to look after her (believe it or not he has kids!!!!!) he's put the time off i had to look after her as unauthorised absence which has obviously gone on my records, he is frequently telling me that he has to 'spoon feed' me where my work is concerned (I had no training whatsoever for this side of the company just told to get on with it so whenever i have been asking for help and advice he doesnt like it, i think he assumes that the role i came from was the same as his and even though ive tried telling him that effectivly im brand new to all this he still has a go) There is so much more that he does and its got to the point where im getting pulled into his office on a daily basis for him to pick something else thats 'wrong' He's also said that if i go for my 20 week scan (which is actually 22 weeks??) which is on a Thursday he'll also put that down as unauthorised absence as it is the same time as our staff meetings and he said he wont allow me to miss it (i had it booked from very early on and he's known about it the whole time)
Anyways ive got to the point now where im just not sleeping as im worried whats going to be the problem next, ive LOST over half a stone in weight due to my appitite being more or less non existant and not only am i snapping alot at my partner and my little girl because im that stressed out im also starting to get really violent headaches that make me feel sick!
Ive written a letter of grievence following company policy to our director who, and i quote has said 'After investigations this matter shall not be taken any further at this time'
Im really getting to the end of my tether with this now, im taking early maternity leave just to try and get out of there sooner but i still have 11 weeks to go - i have an appointment with my gp on Friday and was wanting to know if she cant give me something to desensatise me to this???
Sorry for the very longwinded question.....Thanks guys
3 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoim 27 and started to wee myself?
Im 27 years old and have a 16 month old little girl - Ive never suffered with any form of incontinence or even slight leaking since my little girl was a few weeks old (the first few weeks of leaking was purly because id just given birth) however this past few weeks whenever i cough, sneeze or laugh i pee myself. I dont even have to need the toilet, it started off as just a tiny amount at first but as time is going on its getting heavier and heavier - ive actually started literally wetting seats that im on and the bed (incontinence pads are being worn but they are not really helping)
Does anyone have any ideas why ive suddenly started to wet myself and why its getting worse? Its getting very embarrassing and cant keep taking clean underwear and pants to work with me at the rate im having to change every day i cant carry enough with me!!!
Thanks guys for any help
5 AnswersWomen's Health1 decade agoHotpoint CTD40 wont run for full drying time?
A few days ago our tumble dryer started to trip the fuses in our house - this we found out was because we'd forgotten to empty the condensor drawer and water had overflowed. We've left it for a few days and its dried out and started to work HOWEVER now when we use it if we put a drying time of 120 mins its heats up briefly and then switches itself off as if its done the full 120 cycle. Is there anything we can do ourselves to try and fix it or is it an engineer calling time :)
Thanks guys
1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade ago6 weeks pregnant baby No: 2, 9 previous miscarriages!?
Ive had 9 previous miscarriages with my ex husband between 2003 and 2005, Im with my current Fiance and we have a beautiful 1 year old girl and ive found out im approx 6 weeks pregnant with our second.
Now when i was pregnant with our daughter i had awful morning sickness to the point where there was talks of admitting me to hospital to have fluids pumped into me (as it happens this didnt need to be done as some tablets the gp prescribed worked!) With this baby however im not having any sickness at all! I have times (usually an evening) where ill feel sicky but it passes really quickly and i havent been sick yet. I had no morning sickness with all the babies i miscarried
Im currently having some other symptoms like lower back ache, mild pains in lower abdo (had these with my daughter and got told these are due to my womb stretching) and sore boobs.
Anyways, my question is can this actually be a good sign? Im just scared stiff that im going to have another miscarriage as the sickness seems to be a factor? My mum says that its all in my head and that im just lucky to not be suffering with morning sickness, I know this is the most obvious way to look at it and i agree.
Has anybody else had anything similar to this and baby been ok?
Thanks for listening to my wittering :)
8 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoInserting semen into vagina from a condom?
My silly 16 year old cousin has decided to come to me for my advice to see if she inserted her boyfriends semen into her vagina after sex (without his knowledge!!!) could she get pregnant.
Ive told her she cannot in the hopes that she will NOT try this trap and to talk to her boyfriend instread (ive tried to even put her off having a child at the moment but she seems dead set!)
Have i said the right thing? This is something i dont actually know anything about as its not something ive personally ever thought about, can she get pregnant if she tries this or would any lubricant from the condom kill all sperm :-s
Thank you
10 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow many months in rent arrears do you have to be before being serviced notice to quit? UK Only please?
We had a hand delivered letter serving us a Section 21 (1) (a) and when we called our letting agents they said (very smugly) 'You havent paid any rent!' When i asked what they were on about they told us that the extra payment for June rent had not been recieved into the offic (We'd agreed that Id pay the rent for June at the end of July but id set up the standing order for 30.08.2010 instead of 30.07.2010) I let the letting agents know that in a weeks time i would personally call into the office and pay June and this months rent (The rent money for June has by this point been eaten up in other bills) They said this is fine but the eviction still stands, I understand that i agreed to pay on a set date and had made a mistake with this but after 2 years of living in the property and ALWAYS paying rent in full and on time i cant understand why they have gone straight for eviction! I have been in constant contact with the letting agents so its not as if they can say that they have never been able to contact us and we always miss rent, they have even been to inspect the property on numerous occasions (at our request due to it falling apart on the inside) and we have been told that we have done wonders for the place!
Can they actually serve this notice to quit when only owing 1 months rent? (we only pay £375 pcm) They never renewed our tennancy in June either............
Moreso stressing as we were planning to move in the next few months anyway and worried that if they are going to try and use the 'rent arrears' as an excuse this could effect a new tennancy
Thanks Guys
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoPossibly 3-4 weeks pregnant, scan showing Sac but no baby?
My sister in law found out nearly 2 weeks ago that she was having a baby, the conception indicator on the pregnancy stick said she was '1-2' weeks pregnant, She had an appointment with the midwife Monday just gone who said they thought, given the first day of her last period, that she was actually 7-8 weeks pregnant.
However, she was admitted to hospital last night with severe stomach pains (that have since stopped and not returned) and no bleeding. They have performed an early scan on her this morning to rule out an ectopic pregnancy but found a Yolk Sac with no baby inside - These doctors have now said that she might only be 3 weeks pregnant and want her to go back next week for a follow up scan.
Does all this sound normal for someone who would be '3 weeks' pregnant? Would the sac show up with no baby and would she actually get a positive pregnancy test 1 week after fertilisation??? I didn't think so, but just have to ask.........
Thanks in advance for any answers
