  • Guy Friend Rubbed His Legs Against Mine.?

Does my guy friend like me? We were both wearing shorts and he "accidentally" brushed his legs against mine 2 times at dinner. Then afterwards, while we were still sitting down and talking to a 3rd friend at the table, he put his legs close enough to mine that I could feel the hair on his legs against mine and then he gently rested his legs against mine under the table where no one could see. I could hardly face him, I felt embarrassed yet flattered at the same time. I started to get a little nervous and couldn't believe this was happening so I just stayed still. But am I reading too much into this?

  • Geico Withdrew Settlement Offer?

An uninsured motorist hit me and totaled my car. Initially my insurer Geico said that the accident was my fault and that it would not be covered by my uninsured motorist coverage. So, I got an attorney and ended up winning my claim against Geico. They offered too little for my vehicle and I asked them to re-appraise it. Now they have withdrew their offer and are saying I am 60% at fault for this accident and will only pay medical expenses from my PIP. Basically leaving me without a settlement for my car, and my attorney is saying there is nothing that can be done.

But I find this hard to believe as Geico agreed to pay for my claim at the end of my recorded statement. My attorney was also on the line to hear this. And I just don't understand how Geico can go from agreeing to pay one moment, then refusing to pay when the bill goes up?

What do I do? My attorney seems to not care and I don't know why. I don't think Geico should get away with promising to pay for claims and then changing their mind later. It's unethical.

    Please advise, thank you.

  • What type of attorney do I need to sue my HOA over selective enforcement of rules and breach of by-laws?

    My Case:

Two of my vehicles were towed from the condominium complex that I live at. The property management company appointed by the HOA board did not give me any prior warnings or citations about either of my vehicles being out of compliance with parking lot rules and regulations before they were towed. One of the vehicles had an expired state inspection sticker and the other was wrecked (covered with car cover.)

I understand that my vehicles were out of compliance, but I feel the property management company/HOA board treated my situation rather severely as I was not given a warning or an opportunity to have the vehicles brought into compliance or removed from the property before they were towed. In fact, I have a copy of the property by-laws stating the procedure for removal of out of compliance vehicles. The by-laws state that any vehicle found out of compliance with parking lot rules and regulations are to receive a warning sticker affixed onto the vehicles windshield, and the owner is given 7 days to either bring the vehicle into compliance or remove the vehicle from the property. If the vehicle remains out of compliance beyond 7 days, the property management company will tow the vehicle at the owner’s expense.

As mentioned before, I was not given and warning or citations about my vehicles nor was I given the declared 7 days to bring my vehicles into compliance or have them removed from the property. The property management company/HOA board has clearly violated the by-laws by not following proper procedure and having my vehicles towed at my own expense. I also have evidence (time lapsed photos) of multiple vehicles in my complex that were in violation of parking lot rules and regulations during the same period of time as my vehicles for expired registration or state inspection stickers and that were not towed. For example, I have photos spanning over a period of 4 months showing a truck in my complex that was last registered in 2006 and was in violation for 4 months without being towed.

Initially I filed an illegal towing suit with the tow company because they would not tell me who authorized the towing of my vehicles. I lost the suit because the towing company did not break the law by selectively towing my vehicle and not towing the other out of compliance vehicles, in fact they have a contract with my complex that only allows them to tow vehicles that are selected and called in by the management company. Although I lost the suit, the judge court ordered the towing company to release a copy of the contract held with the property management company as well as the work order for my vehicles which revealed who initiated my tow. (Neither property management nor the towing company would tell me who initiated my tow. HOA would not speak to me because I was not a home owner) The work order shows the property manager initiated and signed the work order for the towing of my vehicles. With this information I was able to file a small claims suit against the property management company.

My trial was set for two weeks ago and was dismissed because I was 5 minutes late for court. I am certain that I would have won because I have strong evidence of selective enforcement, but I need help in appealing my case. I am also concerned that I am seeking too little in compensation for this case. So far I have had no legal counsel and have pursued this case on my own, but now I am in a difficult situation as to whether I should appeal the case which the court clerk told me would cost $400 something dollars, or file another law suit for breach of by-laws?

As of date, this ordeal has cost me 2 personal days from work, hours of collecting evidence (photos) and legal research as well as $715 dollars in towing fee’s and court costs. I think I can win this case, but I know I need an attorney’s council. I need help in deciding whether I should appeal the ruling (case was dismissed) on selective enforcement or sue the property management company for breach of by-laws. Can someone please recommend an attorney that can work off of contingency or pro bono in the Dallas area?

    Thank you.
