Miss Honey (Matilda the musical) audition help please!!?
I’m auditioning for the musical Matilda soon and am hoping for Miss Honey. I need a 16-32 bar audition piece. I’m a soprano with a fairly decent vocal range so I’m completely comfortable singing this mezzo part. I’m trying to find a song that is emotional and powerful, has a bit of belting in it but not too much. I wanted to do “the life I never led” from sister act but it’s 3/4 time and the tempo is so quick that 32 bars is barely a whole verse.
Any help is appreciated!!
Theater & Acting1 year agoHair audition song?
I'm auditioning for Hair at my university. I'm a soprano who can also sing mezzo or alto, not a belter at all. It's kind of difficult for me to replicate the style of aretha franklin and so on, but i want to audition for crissy or jeanie. They want us to sing a pop, rock, or soul song from the late 60's or early 70's and I'm having difficulty finding one.
I'm thinking Band of Gold by Freda Payne, but it doesnt follow the style of the show at all. Help please! I'm running out of time!!
1 AnswerTheater & Acting7 years agowaldrobe malfunction! need help!?
So I bought this gorgeous, taffeta one-shoulder dress (pic of it here http://15dollarstore.com/img/15174_1_1857_p.jpg) but there's a bit of a problem...
when i got it, it was obvious you were supposed to go bra-less as it has a bit of support plus some padding in the boob area... but the top is fairly see through so you can very obviously see the outline of the boob pads :( how can i fix this?? I dont want to take it to a tailor, because i cant really afford it. But I know how to sew, so that could be an option if someone knows what the solution might be... do I sew in a liner or some sort? and if so, what type of material should i use??
really need help!!
1 AnswerOther - Arts & Humanities9 years agoEconomics term paper topics?
I'm in microeconomics and i have to write a term paper. but first, we have to pick what our term paper will be about, and then write a paper on why we chose that topic. (idiotic, right?) The porfessor did not give us any guidelines on what to write about.
i'm not a fan of government or econ classes, what should i write about that wont bore me to sleep?
2 AnswersEconomics9 years agoHelp for Next to Normal Audition?
I'm auditioning for the role of Natalie in my town's community theatre this fall. I'm a soprano, my vocal range is F3 to C7 (yes, i do mean 7, not 6). anywhere in that range, i'm a strong singer, but not exactly a strong belter. I can sing all of Natalie's songs flawlessly, even without belting, (I can make my head voice sound like a chest voice very well) so I know I can rock this part, but I need an audition song that will show the director that I can rock it. help please?? I'm thinking of singing the last part of Pulled from The Addams Family Musical. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

1 AnswerPerforming Arts9 years agofluctuating rpm's while car is in idle... help!?
I have a 2007 Nissan Versa. about 2 weeks ago, i went to the shop to get my oil and my air filter changed. ever since then, every time my car has been off for a while, when I turn it back on, the rpm's fluctuate like crazy. normally, when idling, it will decrease to about 900 rpm's and stay there. but now, it'll jump anywhere from 1000 to 2000 when my car is idling. if my car had been recently used, then put in idle, the rpm's wont fluctuate as drastically, but it still fluctuates from about 950 to 1100rpms. and i know its not just the meter, because i can hear the engine making noises too.
i took my car back to the shop a couple days later, and he told me it was just the idle sensor getting used to the new amount of air intake because my old air filter must have been really dirty and my engine wasnt getting enough air... and honestly, it sounds like a load of crap.
are these guys just trying to dodge responsibility for something they did to my car??
i need help, im really worried that they did some damage!
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoWhere in MI can I major in Dietetics and minor in Music Theatre?
I'm currently going to a community college, looking to transfer to a university in michigan (i cant afford out of state). I love music theatre with all my heart and was originally planning on majoring in it, but I decided that my future lies instead in dietetics. But I'm going to continue being in shows for the rest of my life, wherever I live.
I want to know if there are any schools in michigan that offer a masters in dietetics, with a minor in music theatre. Or honestly, I'd be ok with a school that allows non theatre majors to take music theatre courses. Western Michigan does not allow this, and I havent been able to find anything about that at Central Michigan so far. Eastern Michigan doesnt interest me at all and I still have no clue if U of M has a minor in music theatre.
Anybody have any intel on this?? I really need help!

My community college is putting on the show in december, auditions are in a couple weeks, so I wanted to start looking for a song. So far I have "All Grown Up" from Bare: A Pop Opera. What do you think?
I'm a soprano, and am really good at Wendla's style of singing, it's just really difficult to find songs the same style as Mama Who Bore Me, and Whispering. Think you can help me out?
thanks!!

7 AnswersTheater & Acting10 years agoNeed help connecting my Shure SM 58 mic to my laptop!!?
Im not completely technologically impaired, but I dont belong on the geek squad either, so if you can help, I might need you to use small words :P
I have a Shure SM 58 microphone, and a 1/8" adapter plug, which fits perfectly into my microphone jack. Problem is, when I try and record my voice, barely any voice is recorded.... It sounds like a very small voice trying to speak through a bunch of static (and mind you, my voice is not small). Is there something I'm missing? Did the store "forget" to tell me something when I told them my purpose for needing a microphone, and then bought this thing off of them? Do I need to go through some sort of process to connect the mic?? Please help! I'm really eager to get some recordings done, but I can't do it without a working mic!
1 AnswerLaptops & Notebooks10 years agoIs it frowned upon to audition with a song from a Jewish show if you're not Jewish?
Hi, definitely not Jewish, and I was wondering if the people casting the show I'm auditioning for would hate me for auditioning with "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" from Yentl. A very Jewish song from a very Jewish musical. I haven't auditioned with it yet, but it's perfect for my vocal range and style, but I thought I remembered hearing somewhere that non-Jewish people aren't supposed to play Jewish parts in theatre.... Am I wrong in thinking that (or, for that matter, completely off my rocker), or is that really something to consider?
help please!! thanks :)
4 AnswersPerforming Arts1 decade agoGood audition song for the role of Serena in Fame?? Help!!?
I'm normally a coloratura soprano, but I'm very flexible in the style of music I sing. I'm not very good at belting, but I'm pretty good at faking it :) I need a song that will show off my range, and be somewhere towards the style of what Serena sings in the show, but not be too belt-y... maybe a little bit is OK :) it also needs to be from a broadway musical.
Any help will be appreciated! Except for the people who post never ending lists of generic female audition songs.... please don't do that, it doesn't help :\
Oh! and this is a community theatre, so some of the songs that are overdone, and banned from some big time theatres, might be ok in this case :) thanks for your imput!!
1 AnswerTheater & Acting1 decade agoColoratura Soprano Audition Song for a scholarship HELP!?
My college is having an audition for a scholarship for voice majors, and I really need the money! I'm more of a lyric coloratura soprano, but i'm not a wimp when it comes to low notes. I'd just rather stay in the upper range (My highest comfortable note is an F6 ("high F"). I need help finding an aria to sing for the audition (preferably in French or Latin, because I speak both, but am not so great with pronunciation of other languages yet).
please help! the auditions are in 10 days (i just heard about it yesterday) and i really need this scholarship!
1 AnswerPerforming Arts1 decade agoI need help finding an audition song for Hello, Dolly!?
I'm a soprano, but seeing as there are no soprano singing/speaking parts in the show, I need to find a jazzy, upbeat number in the mezzo range to sing for the audition. Preferably something from the same time period as Hello, Dolly! and maybe the same style as "Elegance" from the show (I'm trying out for Minnie)
All input will be appreciated! But please, if youre answering this, please try not to suggest any ballads. I have every ballad known to man in my repetoire, but I'm having a little trouble mixing it up :\
Thanks!
3 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoWhat are good comedic audition songs for soprano?
All throughout highschool, the theatre and choir directors kind of pinned me as the sweet, quiet character, but I've long been ready to portray much more than just that. I do have an operatic tone, but I can portray a lot of different character types. (Sweet, elegant, spunky, cutesy, uptight, dramatic, boisterous... I could go on, but I wont). So I'm trying to find some more comedic and upbeat audition songs, so that I can stop auditioning with ballads, and get out of being stuck with the quiet characters.
My range is very high (from a low G below the staff to the second G above the staff) but I really cannot belt at all. I'm quite good at that slightly nasally "broadway tone" though, so some songs that require belting, I can usually just sub in the broadway tone.
Can anyone help me find some songs that will show off my range, but are upbeat and comedic? (I'd like them to be funnier, I really do like playing funny characters)
all help will be appreciated! thank you!

oh, and if you could tell me how to find free online sheet music for the songs, it would be wonderful :D
4 AnswersTheatre & Acting1 decade agoFor a Music Theatre major, which school is better? Central Michigan or Michigan State?
I cant afford to go to school out of state, and I'm trying to find the best music theatre education for the lowest cost (without having to go to Western; I cant stand Kalamazoo) So between Central Michigan University and Michigan State University, which school would give me a better education in music theatre and more recognition in the world of broadway?
Thanks!

2 AnswersTheater & Acting1 decade agoDoes breastfeeding for too long have long term effects?
I just found out that, at the age of 2, I was still being breastfed... I'm a young adult now, and I have a very small structure and what seems like multiple health issues. Was it caused by being breastfed for too long, or is this just genetics?
1 AnswerWomen's Health1 decade agoHaving troubles with my singing voice. HELP PLEASE?
I've been singing since I could barely talk, and only recently I've been having troubles. I've been singing semi-professionally for about 4 years now, but the past few months, I haven't been able to sing even a few bars with having to clear my throat. I've never had to do this before, but now it constantly feels as though my throat is all clogged up.
And it doesnt have anything to do with tone support (I know how to do that correctly) or my health (not that I know of. I'm a vegetarian but I take care of myself, I get all my supplements and vitamins)
Anyone have any idea what's going on with my voice? Pleeaaassee help me! :[

I have had dial up at my house for the past ten years, and I'm really getting sick of it. We dont have cable TV so we cant get DSL that way... we have sattelite, but we cant afford Hugh's Net. Our phone company is ATT, but they dont offer high speed internet where we live, and verizon will only cover one computer in the house, but we have multiple computers... Is there any company I can try that costs around the same as our current internet ($30.00/month) that we wouldn't have to switch phone companies for?
any input will be appreciated!
