  • Timing Chain Replacement * Independent Shop * Will a CEL go away on it's own..?

Will the CEL go away on its own after a timing chain replacement?

Car is a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta VR6 12v.. The independent mechanic who did the job told me that it would.. He said it would take between 1-200 miles for the 'computer to reset itself'.

I'm not sure whether to believe this since the guy took forever to do the job and bungled a few things along the way. Obviously he knows a lot more about cars than I do, but I don't trust him 100%.

  • Do any airlines and/or hotels offer a honeymoon registry?

I know there are cruise lines that offer this as an option... but we're not looking for a cruise.

I'm reluctant to use Honeyfund or Wanderable because there is no guarantee the money is being used for a honeymoon.. In theory, we could take the check and use it for anything right? I'd like our guests to have the satisfaction of knowing their money went directly to our honeymoon.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Proposal question for ladies: should I keep the ring in the box?

When I propose, is it common to keep the ring in the box and pop it open for display, like in a jewelry commercial, or do people carry the ring loose and hold it up between their thumb and index finger?

A couple of considerations: the box is more difficult to conceal over the course of an evening, and secondly, I don't like the advertisement on the inside of the box... I think it's distracting and mildly tacky.

I appreciate any and all advice in advance, thanks.

  • 2002 Ford Focus passenger side rain / water leak?

The car was parked outside in heavy rain for several hours.. The passenger side foot well was soaking wet when I returned.

I've heard this can be fixed by using silicon sealant. My question is, where do I apply the sealant? Does anyone have a link to YouTube, or links to pictures? Thanks

  • Zynga Hanging w/ Friends Problem?

Downloaded an update yesterday from the App Store 11/01/11 and now the game is bugged... I cannot enter a word because the keyboard slid off the bottom right corner of the screen.. I can only see the upper left hand corner. The chat text is also misaligned.

Did anyone else have this problem? How did you fix it? I've tried reinstalling and rebooting to no avail.. I am using iOS 4.2.1., iPhone 3G. I opened a help ticket w/ Zynga but so far rec'd only a generic response.

If you're game is working fine beware of the updates!

  • Is it odd to ask your Server personal questions?

For example: 'Are you a single mom?', or 'do you get health insurance [working] here'?

I overheard this last weekend at a fairly nice establishment. Some guy and his wife were asking the server, who was gracious about it... I'm pretty sure they didn't know each other. I thought it was a bit over the line, what do you guys think? It wasn't a condescending question, it was more fatherly.. Still I thought it was none of his business.

  • My gf found a condom wrapper under my bed..?

We've been together 5 months and I love her very much. I have been 100% faithful. The wrapper was from a previous relationship which only lasted a few weeks. I just don't clean under my bed that often and it didn't even occur to me... Now my gf is upset and full of doubts. I've never given her reason to doubt me besides this. I'm devastated the trust might've been destroyed by a misunderstanding. How can I reassure her I am not cheating?

  • What should I take for dinner?

I've recently begun dating a single mom w/ two teenage daughters. This is my second time to dinner with them. The first time I took dessert, which went over well. I was hoping to surprise them with something different this time, but also not spend too much money as its early on in the relationship.

They all three like goofy humor, silly movies, sweets, dancing, and music, and I think they have a Wii. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • 1911 Spring Plug (cosmetic question)?

Do I have to use the Spring Plug that comes with an aftermarket Full Length Guide Rod (FLGR), or can I use the standard spring plug that came with my 1911? The reason I ask is, all the FLGRs in my price range ($20-$30) are stainless steel and my pistol is parkerized... I don't want a black gun with a shiny Spring Plug.

Does anyone sell a FLGR and Spring Plug in black? I cannot afford the Tungsten models, so that is *out*.

    Thank you shooters in advance.

  • Mosin Nagant M44 Bayonet Question?

I sighted my M44 in with the bayo extended and that's how I shoot it. After several range trips I notice the ring on the bayo assembly which goes over the muzzle is leaving a ring mark on the barrel. Not too deep, and not all the way around, but noticeable. Is this a common problem, typical to the M44? How do I correct this?

  • What are the *odds* of getting someone pregnant from having sex once?

I did not bust or even come close, but there was full penetration. We had been drinking a lot... I know I should use protection, and I know it was a stupid thing to do, have not done this in years and don't plan to do it again, just wondering how the numbers shake out, if anyone's done some research...

I will be getting tested for STD's also.

  • Have you guys heard? EPA Considering Ban on Traditional Ammunition?

Here is a useful link, do your part and speak now...

    http://www.nssfblog.com/epa-considering-ban-on-tra...

It appears some groups out there will stop at nothing to encroach on our rights. There is no scientific evidence whatsoever that the type and amount of ammo used by private citizens degrades the environment.

  • A couple of questions about JB Bore Paste?

I've run a boatload of patches through my Mosin and they're still coming out dirty. The bore is fairly bright, and I don't expect to get a mirror finish - I just want to clean out the crud. What is the difference between the regular and the red JB Bore Paste? Can I use it to clean the bolt assembly too? Are there similar products to JB Bore Paste which work just as well?

    Thank you in advance.

  • Mosin Nagant M44 inserts/sling?

Re: the little sheet metal inserts/fittings/clips in the stock and fore (where the sling is fastened)... What are those called? I am searching for them on eBay and Gunbroker and I can't find them, but I know somebody must sell them.

I finally picked up an M44 for $71 (no accessories) at Big 5 on clearance. It is Tula factory, 1946. The bore is beautiful, but unfortunately the stock is beat to hell. I want to refurbish it.

Thank you shooters in advance. Very excited here :)

  • Mosin Nagant 44 (Romanian 1944) Carbine w/ side folding bayo?

Does anyone have this gun? I am curious what your impressions of it are, whether it gets range time or sits in the safe, and how tough (or easy) it is to find decently priced ammo. How does the recoil compare to a modern 30-06 hunting rifle (165 gr)? The steel butt plate and small size makes me think this little carbine might kick quite a bit...

Any advice is welcome, thank you in advance.

  • Seeking carryhandle scope or red dot for A2 upper less than $100?

I want to spend no more than $100. This is for plinking not competition shooting. The primary use is for hitting B-27 (and other) targets offhand at 100 and 200 yards. I tried the red dot once and it seems to go against my instincts watching the dot. What is the advantage to these? I'd appreciate thoughts, brand names, and places to buy.

My gun shoots high w/ the 300m zero and I'd like to zero it for shorter distances while improving accuracy - that is another big reason for my question.

Sorry if this question posted twice, there was glitch with the website earlier

  • When did the AR15 supply catch up with demand?

Or did it? I was at Wholesale Sports yesterday and they had a couple dozen AR15's on the rack... Bushmaster, Olympic, Remington.. Then I went online and noticed Bud's Gun Shop also has them 'in stock'. Is that correct? When did this happen!?

I was under the impression they were backordered from here to eternity.

  • Type 56 SKS hangfire?

Three times today at the range my gun did not fire when I pulled the trigger. The hangfires were not consecutive and happened with two different types of ammo (Wolf & Norinco). The primers on the ammunition were not indented. I took the bolt out and cleaned it a little, but the hangfire happened again a few shots later. Is there anything besides the bolt and firing pin that could be causing this? I did a function test and I can hear the sear engagement although it's very faint.. Any ideas?

    Thank you shooters in advance
