  • Cord Blood Banking Question?

Ok so my father-in-law just got diagnoses with multiple myeloma (blood and bone cancer) hes currently undergoing chemo, and if all goes well there is talk of a bone marrow transplant well, just so happens both me and my sister-in-law are both pregnant, so now there is talk of maybe doing cord blood banking. I am all for it (as I'm sure she will be too)

I was just wonering what the chances would be for a grandchilds blood to match a grandparents?

Also I was wondering if they did end up being able to use it, do they use ALL of it, or would there be more left over if someone else ever needed it?

  • are the back row of seating in mini vans pretty standard?

we were given a mini van (2002 Dodge Grand Caravan) it had been a delivery van and they had taken the bench seats out, well somehow the back row of seating got lost, so I'm needing to find a back row of seating I'm thinking a junk yard/craigslist or something.....I was jsut wondering if most mini vans use the same kind of back rows, or if I need to find that EXACT mini vans seating?

  • Can I easily switch a gas water heater for an electric?

We currently have a gas water heater...it's pretty old and the water heater is the only thing we use gas for so I would like to just cut off the gas all together and get an electric water heater....so can I just plug in a water heater to a regular outlet? or would there have to be some special wiring?

  • 22 month old having trouble getting to sleep.?

Hey everybody, I am at my wits end!!!

my daughter is 22 months we transitioned her into a toddler bed about a month ago...she has been doing pretty good.

when she was in her crib she would self-soothe very well and I rarely had any trouble getting her to sleep.

Once we put her in the toddler bed we had to start rocking her and sining to her to get her to settle down.....It wasnt ideal (I have a 6 month old so it takes alot of juggling when I have to rock her to sleep when he goes to sleep an hour after her) but it worked

the past few nights have been miserable....she wont settle down even when I rock her and once I do get her to settle down as soon as I lay her down she starts screaming....I let her cry for a little while then go back in over and over and over....the past few night it has taken me 2 hours to get her to sleep (it normally takes about 10 minutes)

Last night she woke up in the middle of the night around 2 am screaming we couldnt get her back to sleep so we finally pulled out the play pen and put her in it...she fell asleep in about 5 minutes. tonight I couldnt get her to sleep for anything finally I put her in the playpen and sure enough she was out in less then 10 minutes.

I dont know what to do! I dont want to make it a habit of her sleeping in her playpen because she'll be able to clmib out soon (which is why we put her in the toddler bed to begin with) but if I put her in her bed she just screams and bangs get out of bed and bangs on the door and sobs until we come back in.

And like I said I have a 6 month old, so if he's awake I have to be constantly running between the 2 of them trying to get her to sleep and keep him from getting all upset becuase he's all by himself...its so frustrating

anyways any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

  • Want to try some new kinds of wine?

Hey guys, I'm looking for suggestions on some good CHEAP wine lol like under $10 a bottle....My husband and I havent tried a whole lot of wine and it's a little overwhleming walking down the isle trying to pick one, when you know absolutely nothing about them lol.....SO

1st - we typically like the sweeter wines (like lambrusco) so any suggestions for a good sweet wine would be great.

2nd - I want to try other types of wine too soooo...what are some of your favorites.

3rd - if you have any other advice on picking a wine that'd be cool!

lol one time we picked a bottle of red wine "smoking Loon" it was terrible...so dry I felt like I had just drank sand....then we read the discription and we realized why it was so cheap lol...anyways we have no clue what we're doing :)

  • New Puppy behavior training?

ok I need some help! This is kinda long sorry....basically theres 2 things I need help with

I have 2 small dogs that I have had for about 3 yrs...they are pretty well behaved...I didnt train them though. One male (speedy) one female (sissy) They are indoor dogs. We recently put up a fence so they are outside for a good portion of the day now...speedy doesnt like being outside so he is inside mostly...sissy loves being outside but she is CONSTANTLY barking at everything...trains (we live by the tracks so there are alot of trains, but we've lived here for a year now and she's never barked at them before), people, idk leaves? lol I dont know what to do to keep her from barking so much.

So that's the first thing, how do I train her to not bark at every little thing, I know dogs bark and I cant expect her to never bark, but this is pretty excessive.

Next, I recently got a new puppy. She is an outside dog she is about 11 weeks now....she gets along fine with the other 2 dogs, she rarely barks, but when sissy comes outside with her she is influenced to start barking right along with her...so thats annoying and needs to stop.

with the puppy (misty) I basically need to know where i should start as far as basic obedience...i should have started sooner, but i didnt :(....I have a 2 year old and misty is always so excited to see her and she jumps all over and knocks her down so some things I would like to know how to train are....

    1. not to bark

    2. not to jump up on you

    3. stop when I tell her "no"

    4. not to bite (she doesnt bite when I put my hands in her mouth or anyhting, but she nips at your heels)

I know theres a ton of websites with this stuff, but I'm kinda overwhelemed looking for a good one, so I would like to know what worked for you, and any websites or articles that you have found helpful

  • Question about Crape Mertles?

Last Summer I planted 2 baby crape mertles in front of my house they were both the same height when planted...... they're both in full sunlight all day....one is now about 3 1/2 feet tall and the other is only about 1 foot (about the size it was when planted)...
