I am running empty on ideas and everything I have come up with personally has been a little average and a little desperate but I am looking for a magical/powerful artifact that and evil and dominant character would want to try and get his hands on. Something powerful to the point of world-changing/ life-changing stuff. Some good Examples. (Philosophers Stone (Harry Potter, The Dagger Of Time (Prince Of Peria) or Pieces Of Eden (Assassin's Creed) etc.

DON'T GIVE ME LINKS TO GENERATORS. They are all crap to be frank and don't really help at all, they mostly give far-fetched ideas that are nothing but useless. I don't want to take any ones idea for my own. I just want a few sparring ideas to get a little motivation. Anyone have any thoughts?

PS. Giving you details on the story won't really help much but I'll keep it quick. Basically a young "teen" is recruited into an Assassins "Guild" called The Sacred Circle. They are the right-hand men of the King and do all his dirty laundry in a just and authoritative manner. The young "teen" then gets caught up in a web of lies within the King's court and due to the Assassins Oath is sworn to secrecy and cannot repeat what he has seen or knows to anyone. Basically the King has received word of a neighboring Kingdom who is searching his domain for this lost artifact or a means of finding this artifact (compass, map etc.), due to an ancient treaty made centuries this invasion of the King seeking the artifact is classified as an act of defiance and an act of war.This artifact will help the evil King to overthrow The Sacred Circle and the King so The Sacred Circle is given the top secret mission of retrieving this artifact before the other side gets it.

The plot is a little on the rough-side but it very early days. I am not looking for criticism or critiquing, simply branching out for an outlet of inspiration.

I am interested to know, for writing purposes how people would react in such situations. How would you envision survival during such extreme conditions? Say if a nuclear bomb was dropped, how would it be possible to survive such a thing? Down a deep mine shaft? In a military bunker? Would it be possible to survive at all if it was something powerful and capable enough to uproot foundations and send entire cities crumbling to the ground all over the world?

I am eager to hear everyones unique responses. I'll reward 10 points to the most informative, imaginative (yet realistic) AApocalypticSurvival plan.

"Waste Less Words On Buts & Maybes"

I was just doing my own thing the other day and this just popped into my head. I am an avid writer and am about to go get a tattoo across the right side of my chest. An ink well and quill with entwining ribbon and a piece of writing. Originally I was going to get something from the works of Tolkien but then this popped into my head and really means something to me, and with a play on words, it fits well with the picture I am getting inked.

On reading this, what does this quote to you mean? How do you read it? I am just interested to see what peoples personal opinion is.

When naming the Main Character (MC), how do you choose what name is best? I have this character who I cannot name. Nothing seems to feel "right" and it's getting on my nerves cause I can't get into the flow of writing my story without knowing his name. Any suggestions for thinking of great names?

It's a fantasy story about a boy from a small village who goes on a quest to find the last dragon Samael.

At first I was using Arthur, a strong name, but Arthur is so generic, plus the fact that my other characters had more obscure "fantasy-esque" names. I want a more fantasy like name but I just can't seem to find the right match.

I am not a fan of "generators" and the like, they are honestly crap and only churn out a select number of measly names until they start repeating. I'd rather have something of my creation but just can't seem to get something that gel's.

I've tried brainstorming "describing" words for my character and then looking at the translation in other languages "french, latin" and tried to string two or more words together to create a name but to no avail.

Anyone got any suggestions on finding the right name for a hero?

I'm currently working on the planning of a new novel concept. It's about a fall out... the earth dies and we go into a "apocalyptic-esque" type lifestyle and landscape. Basically the hero of the story goes on an epic and dangerous journey to a far corner of the earth where there is said to be a still living part of the old earth. If you've ever played the game Fallout 3 or New Vegas you'll get a good descrpitive of what I can see in my minds eye on living conditions and landscape.

My question to you is...

Would you think in a place where the earth has died and millenia has passed would our names become more obscure and odd? Would the hero's name be common like Arthur or would it have a fantasy feel to it, something like Arthern or would they use older names that are slightly less common like Silas? Would you see it staying the same or would things change?

I'm working on some character plots and profiles for the new novel i'm working on, it's untitled so far but here's the main story in a nut shell.

Scarlett & her father are wrongfully sentenced to death for the murder of their mother/wife. Instead of "dying" they are sent to the Island Of Lost Souls where they are trapped to repent for eternity for their crimes. Scarlett learns of a secret community on the Island which is made up of people and families in the same perdicament, they where wrongly accused. They hatch a plan to escape the Island and get back to the living world. It involves 4 selected young adults within the community taking a perilous journey that no one has returned from yet across the Caspen sea, past the Skeleton Quay and into the port of the King's city Beltor. Where they hunt down the real culprits to their crimes and free there souls back to the living world. (I might add here this a rough plot, i haven't given to much thought to this).

Basically my question is, I have a fantasy realm I am creating (name unknown at this stage) which obviously will have fantasy named town and also creatures to fill it with, not just humans. Is it weird to use average human names such as Scarlett, Elijah, Patrick, Riley, Chase and Sunday? Along side stranger names like Mordecai, Thorad, Erod etc. I know that most stories stick with one or the other, but if i mixed them in well enough would it seem strange and out of place to have recongisable and familiar names with strange and new, made-up ones?

I've done a rough chapter draft where a discussion between a character called Arthur, his father Erod and his uncle Sirj takes place and it doesn't seem out of place, but i'm not sure if i'm just willing that, it's really how I want this to pan out and I'm dead set on having human names mixed in with made-up human names but I just wanted to get an overall opinion on what others think.

I'm torn between Nikon and Canon. One minute you ask a camera shop and they say Nikon is best, next week it's Canon. I've done a few of the tests on the web that give you a few camera selections based on what you want to photograph (eg. Sports, Travel, Macro etc.) giving you a break down of shutter speed, ISO, Image Stabiliziation. The four cameras that came up where cameras i was already considering but it didnt really help me make the final decision.

Canon EOS 5D MK II (very expensive and out of my league)

Canon EOS 7D (This one seems most suitable)

Canon EOS 60D (This was my second choice)

Nikon D7000

I've been using my girlfriend's Canon EOS 400D and i've been realy happy with the results it churns out. I'd like to go one or two up on her model and capabilities. I'm heavily considering the 7D, but it's $500 or so more than the 60D but is there much of a difference.

What are your thoughts? I've almost made my mind up, i'm on the verge and need another opinion to make the final choice.

I've practically almost ruled out the Nikon D7000, it's the cheapest though but still a decent camera out of the 4 i'm considering.

Anyone with any of these models or is a camera guru can you please give me your opinions.

I have two german blues, 1 male, 1 female.

I've had a sudden spike in my Ammonia levels, the tester reads 0.50.. so it's not a huge amount but i know that Rams are fairly sensitive when it comes to even a hint of poor water quality.

At present i am doing my regular water change cycle while adding extra bacteria to help the biological filter strengthen up. Lysofos.

The female ram is perfectly happy, swimming around, eating and playing with the other fish.

I also have two Bolivian Butterfly Rams and they also seem to be coping fairly well with the slight ammonia problem. The male seems to be a little "lathargic" he's not eating as much as he usually does, sometimes not at all from what i can see, but he tends to scavenge mostly from the bottom of the tank. Also he hides away a lot and doesn't seem to come out for ages, only when the light is off.

He also seems to have a slightly enlarged eye, compared to the girl ram and from memory i'm certain it wasn't like that before i detected the ammonia.

I haven't had much luck finding any infomation about it, the only slightly useful thing that i saw on a forum was that it's a possible eye infection, is this possible? Then they went on to discribe some useless "according to them" medications that could be used, but recommended water changes and if their is ammonia that could be the cause and it needed to be rectified before the fishes eye would return to normal. Am i paranoid in thinking it's infected, the other eye doesn't seem to be that size or as protrudent but one eye is really red, the other has a slightly opaqueness to it. I'm stressed and paranoid about the ammonia at the moment so i guess i could be just jumping to the worst conclusions but i've lost a male ram previously. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

I recently acquired a Large Green Tree Frog from Queensland. It had travelled down by truck in extreme heat conditions and i found him running around the warehouse where i work. I've taken him home, he's in a Terrarium and has a fantastic set up with his own little water fall and plants and tree branches and vine. When i first found him he was very dirty, greasy and skinny looking. He was very dehyrdated and dry, i revitalized him and he's as happy and froggy as he should be, and clean and lime green too. Now what do i feed him? I've given him live crickets. But is their anything you can give him that doesn't always necessarily have to be live? Some sort of pellets or flakes like fish foodesque or anything of the sort? I have no qualms in giving him the crickets, i just want some variety, that's all.

I've been building this crazy map for far cry 2, I've built 2 so far uploaded one and then i want to upload this new one.

Every time i try to it uploads slower than my other map did and it signs me out of the playstation network due to an error 3/4 of the way through the upload.... i want to put this map up, but i don't see what the problem could be....

All the maps are validated, it's just been the biggest dick ever.

I'm not a fanboy and i'm not having a dig at Xbox or anyone asking these questions, it's just that Answers is inendated with Xbox Live MTU Failed questions and about when Xbox Live will be back up.

If people had of read through the questions before pitching their own they could have saved some points and found what they were looking for.

Xbox Live is up in some countries and not in others, they only updated the system for themselves and for your usage, they didn't change anything, just cleared caches and things to give a better server connection speed.

Ok Guys, I know you want Live Back on, but instead of everyone asking the question 6 million times over, why not search Yahoo Answers for the already asked question. Live is on in some countries, but not others. Your just going to have to wait, no ones going to know exact times so just sit tight and wait for it to come on in your country.

I recently acquired two 6 week old mini-lop baby rabbits, I named them Atreyu and Atticus....

When i first bought them home Atreyu was very mellow and happy to touched, handled and patted, Atticus was a bit skittery and wary of what was going on around him, jumping at sudden movements and shaking a little... obviously scared....

A couple of days after, when i was taking Atreyu out his cage he had a freak attack and ripped his claw out, I checked the wound and it's healing ok with no infection...

My rabbit cage is massive, it's eight feet long by 6 feet deep, it has a small hutch inside for them to sleep it, it's about 3 by 4 foot.....

Atticus happily comes out to investigate when he hears footsteps or voices, he's not timid anymore and is happy to be touched and handled, he stopped shaking.....

The cage is quiet tall, I'm 5'7 and can happily sit in it without the need to bend, the height between the cage and the hutch is probably 3 feet...

Atreyu has taken to getting up there and not coming down at all, he squashes himself right in the corner and when someome goes to get him of he tries to squash back further, he isn't overly happy about been handled as much as the first day we bought him home....

They have switched personalities almost...

Does anyone have any thought on what might have happened or why he is doing this... is he scared or does he purely enjoy being up there,

Has anyone passed this bit, any helpful hints, i really want to finish this game, Assassins Creed 2 is on it's way and I want to finish the first part before i start the second....

I have two mini lop eared bunnies, they are both 6 weeks old and I was wondering what age do they have to be before I can get them vaccinated for Myxomatosis, I know that 6 weeks is too young....

I just had to update my iPrimus ADSL Broadband to ADSL2+, I got a new modem and all that sheebang and it started of great.

Everything was running faster and smoother.

All of sudden it began to randomly cut out on regular intervals and then reinstate itself 5 minutes later only to reoccur on a regular basis for three days now. Three out of five days in total.

This shouldn't be happening...

I've been unable to contact tech-support and I'm in dire need of stable internet.

I have two different modems for my ADSL2+

the one iPrimus sent me with the new Broadband and one i bought myself prior.

I connect to the internet wirelessly with a D-Link DIR-615 router,

connecting up my modem to it (obviously stating)

The modem i bought is a ADSL2+ D-Link DSL-502T (currently in use)

and the modem iPrimus gave us is Thompson SpeedTouch 536v6

I haven't had a problem like this before

As i said I have already been using broadband prior to my update to ADSL2+ but since I've had it, thats when the disconnection problems began....

Any thought or Ideas on this matter would be wonderful

If it's any help I also live in Australia, + i know for a fact that my location can handle 2+, i know some places you can't get it.....

I play PS3 online a fair bit.. have done for a year or so... sometimes i can sit for days on end and play and play and sometimes just jump on for a few hours... but i find it slows my net right down when i go to use it......

EG. the other day i played COD4 online for maybe 2 hours and then my internet has been slow ever since....

it can even stay slow for up to two months after i used the PS3 online...

it's so annoying and online is so addictive.... what can be done?
