Songs about Rot? Death/Decay/Plagues/Sickness/The Collapse of the World?
I don't care what genre for the most part, really, but I'm hoping for more of an creepy feel or an "oh well, this is gonna happen" feel. Plagues or contamination would be awesome.
I'm not really looking for political downfall type songs or war based songs (although it can include that), but anything... apocalyptic is good. Radiation is cool.
It doesn't have to be English, but I'm not really looking for Japanese music right now.
I already know "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons.
3 AnswersOther - Music7 years agoI don't know what driver to update or how? Graphics rendered glitchy in some games?
I'm having precicely the same issue shown in this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix4tvXMRuxU
The textures (primarily for the foliage, but also for just about everything else in certain places) is stretched obnoxiously over all of Skyrim, obscuring my view of paths and, more problematically, dragons. This issue doesn't seem to occur much in individually loaded areas such as caves or buildings, but the more vast the space the more render issues there are.
This also occurs with Sims 3 and Goat Simulator - but not Minecraft, Portal, Portal 2, Amnesia (either of them), or Bioshock.
I've tried googling the problem and most of the solutions involve "Updating to the most current drivers" - which may sound straightforward enough for people who know how to do that, but I'm really utterly clueless about this sort of thing. Which drivers should I update? Where do I go to update them? How do I do it?
I'm not sure what information really makes a difference here and what doesn't, but here's what I know: I'm using Windows 7, not 8, and I'm using an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop.
1 AnswerSoftware7 years agoMovies that entertain conspiracies as real and/or trippy futuristic and/or philosophical movies?
I'm looking for more movies that make you really think about stuff.
I'm looking for something that makes you question things.
~ Something like The Truman Show or the Matrix where the world of the main character isn't really the world.
~ Something like Brave New World or 1984 that shows some less pleasant future or line of reality.
~ Something that's shown from the "paranoid"s point of view about a conspiracy of some sort, where we're led to agree with them
~ Something like GATTACA or The Giver
Yes, I know I keep naming books here X3 I like books... but I want more movies that give you that feeling that all-is-not-what-it-seems, that make you consider the what-if-this-is-real even though you know (hope!) it's not. Or the ones that make you wonder if this WILL happen in the future, make you worry that something like this might be in the works and on its way.
I'd prefer if it was something I could find on Netflix or for free on the internet someplace, but if I have to go to the video store, I will.
I also don't mind more trippy BOOK suggestions, though again I'd prefer if I could google it up rather than have go to the library.
I dunno. Long story short, I'm looking for the kinds of books and movies that English and Philosophy and Psychology teachers might make you watch. I'm not that picky about the particulars, as long as it really does make you think and leaves a lasting impression.
(Oh, but please don't suggest Inception or Clockwork Orange. I've seen them both... Inception didn't really tickle my fancy, although I see where they were going with it. I feel like it would have been better to have read a (the?) book about it. Clockwork Orange, while fitting the bill, was also extremely distasteful in my opinion XD Don't let that stop you from suggesting stuff like them, but I have seen them and they don't quite have what I'm really looking for. They fell just short of the feeling I'm after ^^)
Please and thankyou to anyone who knows of some legitimately good stuff to suggest X3
2 AnswersMovies8 years agoLooking for music about the end of the world/ upheaval/ change?
The end of the world, widespread disasters, radioactivity, being in the midst of natural disasters, sinkholes, tornados, hurricanes, floods, fires, volcanic eruptions, hostile takeovers, holocausts, war, the world after people, etc.
I want music that conveys upheaval, that everything we knew about the world, has changed. THIS is life now. It doesn't even need to have words if it has the right feeling to it. Creepy, dramatic, something that makes you really think, whatever. It CAN be sad, it CAN be slow, it can be classical. It can also be upbeat, riding the wave of change and/or making the best of a bad situation. It can even be in another language. In fact, I really love non-english songs so that would be fantastic :3
What I DON'T want, is a song primarily focused on a spouse/lover/mother/kids/family and the loss of those family members. I don't care if the song INCLUDES elements like that, but I don't want a song that's actually ABOUT the loss of some guy's wife (and it just so happened to have been during a house-fire). You know what I mean?
Also I'd prefer if we could stay away from Country music >.> Unless it's rather fast-paced and peppy or angry and not really about loss.
Please and Thank you!!! X3 I'll be really REALLY appreciative if I get any suggestions o3o
(I already know about Radioactive by Imagine Dragons)
3 AnswersOther - Music8 years agoAre there any free background check/ criminal record search sites that do NOT require a creditcard # ?
Because I don't own a credit card. I know tons of them have free trials, but even the free trial requires a card #.
Law & Ethics9 years agoAm I allowed to ask someone with access to a criminal records search site to search for me?
Many of them have free trials, and cost nothing at all. However, you still need a credit card number to sign up for that no-commitment trial period. The problem is that I don't own a credit card, so I can't even use the free trial.
I tried asking a question that said something like "Would someone who is already paying for membership with, or already using the free trial of a Criminal Records website be so kind as to run one single search for me please?" but someone reported it and it was deleted.
Now I NEVER gave the name of the person I wanted checked, all I did was give an e-mail I could be contacted with if so that I could give the name to a person as an individual if they were willing to help me with it.
So I still can't figure out what I've done wrong. Criminal records are public anyway... It's just that I'd have to go out and get a credit card to see them myself...
So AM I allowed to ask that? Or if I'm not, what am I violating? I read the community guidelines but even "exploiting" people doesn't seem to fit to me... I wasn't advertising or asking someone to do anything that cost money or to buy anything; just wondering if someone who already had it would be willing to use it once for me.
6 AnswersYahoo Answers9 years agoCreepy/Eerie songs? Maybe about going insane? Or things not being what they seem?
I'm getting really tired of some of the songs on my Ipod and I want to add some new ones.
I'm NOT looking for:
~Rap (I only really listen to Eminem anyway)
~Screamo-metal unless I can actually understand what they're saying and it's not completely about rape/torture/bloodlust
~Country songs :p I just don't like them.
What I DO want is:
~Pretty much anything about insanity, especially if the music is a little off-kilter :) I've already got Disturbia, and that's a pretty good example. Anything lighter than that is iffy, anything heavier/creepier is exactly what I'm looking for.
~Pretty much anything about not being able to control your own actions, especially in a homicidal sense or like being werewolf or something.
~Just about anything to do with monsters/demons/devil/haunting as long as they're creepy. I'm not looking for something light-hearted like The Devil Went Down To Georgia :p On the other hand though I'm also not looking for something that seems like it's totally gore and bloody descriptions. I want to be CREEPED out, not GROSSED out.
My taste is a bit weird, but I'll be happy with ANY suggestions I get ^u^
I do NOT need these to be met, but a little about my tastes anyway, just in case:
~I like songs where the singer lapses into non-words, like when they put their whole soul into one single note that they scream/sing.
~I love songs with weird noises in the background, like the sound the deathstar makes when they get ready to fire in starwars. I know that's a weird example but it's the best I've got off the top of my head X3
~I adore deep sounds, like rumbling thunder for example, where they're almost more FELT than heard.
~I also love songs that have the sound of rain or wind in the background
~Although most of Evanescence's songs sound pretty much the same, I really like some of what she does, especially the beginning of Haunted (before the course), and all of Bring Me To Life.
~Hopefully SOMEONE out there will understand what I mean when I say I like songs that are sung "swoopy" like Dream On is, and songs that have strength to the way they're sung, like Toucha-Toucha-Touch is. ^^;
Anyway, any and all suggestions are welcome! Hopefully I get some great new songs to listen to.
Thanks in advance guys!!! :D
13 AnswersOther - Music9 years agoSpanish beer made to go with food?
My dad wants to know the name/brand. He KNOWS that it's Spanish, it's specifically made to go with food, it's a wheat beer, that it's brewed like Belgian beer, it's served in a wine bottle, and he THINKS it starts with an "E".
1 AnswerBeer, Wine & Spirits9 years agoWhere can I find audio of Idris Elba as Heimdall (from Thor) online for free?
Is it actually anywere, or would I have to rend/buy the movie to hear it? I only care about Heimdall's voice, nothing else LOL
I just want to show somebody the way they made his voice sounds all deep and warm like that, and I don't want to have to rent the movie to show them if I don't have to X3
And PLEASE don't say "Netflix" because I've already used up my free trial and I'm not about to pay that much for Netflix just for a 2 second thing that I could just rent the movie for if I really had to :p
1 AnswerMovies9 years agoIs "FX" an adequate abbreviation of "Special Effects", or should I stick with the traditional "SFX"?
I know this probably sounds dumb, but I'm drawing my own original My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic pony character, and her name is Special Effects.
I'd like her cutiemark to just be the letters FX but I'm not sure if FX immediately gets people thinking "Oh, that stands for Special Effects" or if I should instead just go with the traditional SFX, even though I don't want to.
X3 What do you guys think? Is FX ok or should I use SFX?
1 AnswerMovies9 years agoI'm trying to figure out what the head of a medieval village's title is. Is it baron, baronet, earl, duke?
I've tried looking these up and all I get is a list of what is higher up than the others, but no real cut and dry answer as for which one of these is the one that's really in charge of the village. I don't really care about what goes where in the hierarchy, I just want to know which one in particular is the village leader X3
7 AnswersRoyalty9 years agoWhat does this dream mean? It actually made me afraid of CLOUDS of all things for a little while XD?
It was midnight, or just a little after. We had just gotten a ton of snow earlier in the day and it put an unusual hush on the world outside. There was one single light on in the house, in the living room. Mom was sitting at the end of our couch reading underneath it; Desiree (my 14 year old sister) was either on the computer or coloring. I'm not sure what I was up to, but I was in a generally good mood as I walked into our dark kitchen go get myself something to drink. I glanced casually out the window, like I often do when I go into the kitchen in the dark. This time, however, I did not simply turn away as quickly as I normally would.
There in our yard flitting crazily between large drifts of snow, was a female grouse bird with the metallic green markings of a mallard duck. She carried an egg, presumably her own, in her beak. She ran haphazardly in zigzagging circles, dipping her head wildly as if to smash the egg on the ground then snapping it back up as though she'd changed her mind. Slightly amazed, slightly disturbed, but more than anything exhilarated by the unfamiliar bird's appearance in the first place, I called to Des, "Hey Des! Come 'ear! You gotta see this!"
She trotted into the kitchen, grinning. "What?" she asked. I pointed out the window. "What is it?"
"It's a grouse!" I said. I turned to her, a devilish grin spreading across my own face, "Let's go catch it!" She quickly agreed.
We ran excitedly down into our basement for the animal cage and the giant net we use to catch turtles in our ditch. I had the net and we both knew instinctively that she would bring the cage outside and set it by the door, then go empty handed out to chase the bird in my direction so I could get it in the net. We through open the door to go outside and faltered. Something felt wrong. We weren't being watched, but the feeling was not unlike it, almost more like there was nothing out there TO watch us..... nothing at all..... too quite, too alone.
I turned to Desiree, thinking that maybe it was just that it was so late at night.... but she looked downright spooked. "I'm, um..... going to wait inside Ok?" she asked.
"Sure, I'll get it," I said without feeling, almost robotically. She skittered back up the stairs and I turned slowly back to face the outside. Despite my misgivings, I stepped out into it. I noticed, as I walked slowly toward the bird with the net in my hand, that the air outside was not cold. It wasn't warm, but it wasn't cold and yet the snow was not melting. There was simply no temperature at all. The air felt funny though. Dry, but not dry as a normal dry would be, and not sucking the moisture from the skin as dry winter's night would usually do; it was, instead, almost a staticy dry, a dry that almost clung to the skin. There was also this other feeling.....like thunder almost, but not a sound I could hear. It was too deep to hear, but I could feel it.
I noticed also that the bird was not running consistently any more. It was running with frantic bursts of speed, then dropping suddenly to a near standstill, taking slow measured steps.... and appearing to struggle greatly with the effort to stay upright. I walked, ever so slowly in its direction staring in a sort of horror struck fascination at the dyeing bird. It slowed and slowed, its bursts of speed stopped entirely. Finally, with me still a good three yards away, it finally dropped, smashing the egg on the exposed gravel of the driveway in between the snowdrifts it had been scampering between. I stopped. I'm not sure how long I stood there, looking at its body from a distance of three yards, but what pulled me from my musing was my realization that the barn light had been out the whole time, and yet I could see just fine. The sky was completely cloud covered; I knew it was not the moon.
I looked up into sky for the mysterious source of light. Far off to the northeast, the clouds that were floating sluggishly in my direction glowed orange as if with light pollution (the light from many city lights reflecting off the clouds to cause the illusion of glowing clouds). I stood there, as with the bird, simply watching them float ever closer to where I stood. The sky itself stayed dark, but the clouds glowed underneath with reds, oranges, and yellows. The colors seemed to shift and change with the clouds, looking simultaneously like the surface of the sun in shifting patterns, and as if the cloud was simply made of those glowing colors. I allowed them to get very close to where I stood, a dim pre-sunrise type of light creeping over the land. The fear had been slowly building, though I was unaware, caught up in the wonder and beauty.
Suddenly, my paralysis broke. My skin prickled, by chest grew heavy, my stomach dropped, and eyes began to burn just the slightest bit. Fear hit me in a single panicked wave; the small smile mel
