How much weight can a 50 years old 5.5 inch concrete slab hold?
My house is a load bearing structure built about 50 years ago. All rooms are 10x20 ft. in size having 5.5 inch of thickness of concrete slab. I have built a permanemt immovable bed of size 6x6ft on the first floor. It weights about 1 ton (1000kgs) with two persons on it. Can my slab hold 1ton weight on 6x6ft (36sq.ft.), i.e. about 30 kg per sq.ft.? Strutural experts please help me. I am really worried about it. And always have a fear in mind that it will suddenly collaps someday..
