  • With the demise of pontiac next model year, should I even consider buying a G8 GT or GXP?

I like to keep my cars for a long period of time 7-10 years if possible. Will parts be hard to find for a GT or GXP since this car is made in australia and I'm sure its production numbers will be low?

  • Divorce paper wording?

My sister in law was just served divorced papers. In the document it states: "Service - respondent has signed a waiver of service affidavit. As such, no service on respondent will be necessary for proper notice of the filing of this divorce"

She has not signed a waiver of service affidavit. What does this section mean in regular English? Does it mean that if she signs the papers the divorce can go thru without notifying her?

  • Ignore divorce papers?

My sister in law was just served divorce papers. She has no job and no income. Some of the wording in the document is suspicious. What happens if she doesn't agree and doesn't sign it?

  • Send my son to Kindergarten or Pre-K?

My son's b-day is August 31st and he will be 5 years old. Cut off in our district is actually Sept 1. He is currently going to 4 year old preschool and dong fine more or less. The teacher says he can go to their pre-K class (for 5 year olds) there at the church. But I wonder if they are just saying that for the $$?

We are also thinking about moving in 2010 after school is over so I had two scenarios in mind thinking my son is literally on the fence in multiple ways:

    1) Send him to the church pre-K (downside is is not free)

    2) Send him to kindergarten and if doesn't do so well, we will move anyway and he will have kindergarten again in another school (downside is we may not move and he will be more aware of what is going on).

Any opinions? I don't like the idea of him being either the youngest or oldest in class but in this case there is no happy median.

  • Divorce lawyer - retainers standard practice? ?

My sister in law fled her residence in another state due to her bad marriage. The husband has now field for divorce but the divorce papers are all messed up. We have been trying to hire a local lawyer where the soon to be ex husband lives but it seems many dont want to work with someone just over the phone.

Anyway, we found this one guy who says since no children, and really no money is involved, if we pay him $1,500 upfront as a retainer, he will go on the court date assigned and thinks he can get her divorced that day. He thinks it should be an easy thing and only a days work for him. Other lawyers we talked with want twice as much $$. Never had to deal with lawyers before, is forking out so much upfront a standard thing? Should we try this guy?

  • Immigration based on marriage but now getting divorce?

My sister in law came here to the US and married a citizen. But he didn't take care of her (no insurance, no shared bank account, no proof of living together) and treated her badly (maybe infidelity?). Now she is temporarily living with us and wants to stay here until the divorce is finalized. Any chance of that? What should we do? Should she just give power of attorney to her sister and go home?

  • Selective for your barber....?

I go to a barber shop in which 2 of the 3 barbers are great...only problem is lately the barber that is open has been the bad one. Since usually you just go to the open slot, how do I tell the person I don't want him to cut my hair?

  • Salon Selectives finishing spray alternative?

My wife just loves the salon selectives stay flexible finishing spray. In an ironic twist, when she learned they quit making it, I had to go around town to just about everywhere and buy the stuff (I guess the stuff is flexible but she isnt?, LOL). Now that her 1+ year (?) old supply is down to the last bottle she would like to know what is the best finishing spray that is similar that she can try. She wants a flexible hold without a lot of perfume smell.

  • Autocheck or Car Fax?

What is better to use if you want to check the history of a car? In the VIN I want to check, the "free" autocheck shows 15 records but the "free" car fax shows only 11. Is one service better than the other?

  • Truck with over 290,000 miles ?

Right now I have a 1979 Dodge Ram Charger but its too rusted. I want a 1990s model like it (Bronco, full size Blazer, Ykon, etc). Should I look at a K1500 Blazer with 290,000 + miles? I assume with that many miles, the engine has been reworked/replaced, the current owner doesnt know. Is it worth investigating? I just want it for weekend work and hauling a bit (like my dogs), not a daily driver.

  • Asking price and best selling "site" for a rare Pontiac Fiero GT?

I have a 1988 yellow Fiero GT with less than 27K on it. My understanding is that only 241 yellow GTs were made that year. It has been garaged and only used on special occasions but after 14 years of owning it, its time to sell. What should be my asking price and what is the best site to use to sell it? E-bay? Autotrader? Others?
