Spherical Cow

I'd like to be able to order a daiquiri when I go out. To be clear, I'm looking for a drink made with rum, lime juice and simple syrup, preferably in a martini glass. I want the drink that shows up when you go to the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daiquiri

Unfortunately, everywhere I go it seems people understand daiquiri to mean frozen daiquiri. At first I thought it was just a few waitresses that were unaware of the non-frozen version, but this past weekend I ended up having to explain to a bartender what a daiquiri was. Does anyone know a way to order a daiquiri in a simple manner that won't get it confused with its frozen cousin or won't involve me explaining what it is every time?
