  • I have a 2 part question for Mormon’s.?

    1) Do you believe that The Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness? If you do please continue.

I am a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. I read all kinds of religious material to help gain an understanding into what others believe. I have been reading the Book of Mormon off and on for about a year. I just went back and read the introduction last night and the forth paragraph reads:

“After Mormon completed his writings, he delivered the account to his son Moroni, who added a few words of his own and hid up the plates in the hill Cumorah. On September 21, 1823, the same Moroni, then a glorified, resurrected being, appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith and instructed him relative to the ancient record and its destined translation into the English language.”

What caught my eye first is that Moroni, “added a few words of his own.” But, the main thing that got my attention is that, “Moroni, then a glorified, resurrected being,(some would say angel) appeared to the Prophet Joseph Smith.”

Later Joseph Smith translated the plates and out of these plates came the Book of Mormon.

So, lets see if I got this right; a man or angel (Moroni) came down from Heaven and had a man (Joseph Smith) translate some gold plates and write another gospel, the book of Mormon.

Also, on the front of the book of Mormon it has the Title “THE BOOK OF MORMON” the a line and right under that it says, “Another testament of Jesus Christ”

I believe that is correct is it not?

When I read the above the following scripture burst into my mind:

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Revelations 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words

of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

    Can you see my dilemma?

    Now my second question.

    2) If you said yes to the first question and we have established that the book of Mormon is another gospel and "added to" or an abridgment of the Bible, then please explain to me how I can believe the book of Mormon when my Bible has the above Scripture in it?
