  • Should colicking 2 years ago and cellulitis 5 years ago worry me when purchasing a new horse?

I'm looking at purchasing a $25,000 Thoroughbred for hunter/jumpers. Since he is very expensive I've been asking the owner a lot of questions and thankfully, she has been answering truthfully (at least as far as I know).

She told me that two years ago he colicked and had to have surgery for it, but has never even had a belly ache since. Should this worry me? I know that colicking is usually recurring, but since it hasn't happened again in about two years, should I just ignore it?

Also, I was told that almost 5 years ago he suffered from a puncture wound that turned into cellulitis, but hasn't been lame since. The owner also told me that he has been ultrasounded there, but only scar tissue shows up. Should this worry me at all?

Normally I would turn away from a horse with problems like this, but since I know the owner and this horse is everything I'm looking for that I could never find, I am hoping that the problems shouldn't worry me.

    Please and thank you! (:

  • Can I put my male betta in a tank with two balloon mollies?

It is a ten gallon tank and I would want to put in more friendly fish in the future. I just dislike having my beautiful betta stuck in a one gallon bowl, but I don't want my balloon mollies to be picked on. Would it be okay for them to be in the same tank to together and still add more friendly fish?

  • Betta female dislikes male?

I'm attempting to breed a pair of bettas with the help of experienced friends. I have a 10 gallon tank set up with a heater and gentle filter with a styrofoam cup cut in half and taped to the side for the male to make a bubble nest. The female is floating in a clear cup. My male hasnt started making bubbles but he is flaring and flirting with my female, but she wants nothing to do with him. I just put them in eachothers sight today. Should I be concerned about the way the female is acting towards my male, should I wait to see how she reacts in a day or two? I have a back-up female ready incase my first female reacted this way, but she isn't as pretty.

  • Homemade fry food recipe?

My betta fry are going to hatch soon and I wanted to be ready with food. Unfortunately no pet stores around me sell fry food. I was hoping that I could find some easy recipe for one spawn of betta fry to make at home, but have had no such luck.
