  • Has anyone else had their account hacked when their Yahoo mail switched to the new version?

Or is it just an unfortunate coincidence?

(no pat company responses from Yahoo staff, please--I saw too many of those when the homepage changed and not only was it not helpful, it was downright condescending in most cases. Thanks)

  • Does anyone remember the "I'm Single" guy?

I used to work at the Harlem Irving Plaza (or HIP) in Norridge some years ago. On the weekends we'd see a man walk through the mall and the anchor stores, shortish, thin, maybe in his late 30s, early 40s (I'm a bad judge of age). But his outstanding characteristic was that he always had a shirt on that stated "I'm Single" and may have had a phone number. All colors, long sleeved or short sleeved t-shirts.

I'm pretty sure I saw him leave the mall once and his car had a similar message on it, too.

I'm curious if anyone ever met him or knew what his deal was. Thanks!

  • Does anyone know of any blind sci fi movie or TV characters?

I'm thinking Star Wars, Star Trek, Farscape, Firefly, etc. Obscure is fine, great, actually.

    Thanks!

  • looking for the name of a song?

I'm looking for the name of an Evanescence song from a couple years ago. She was climbing up the side of a building in the video, and that's all I got!

  • Trying to identify 2 children's/young adult books?

I remember reading these when I was young, but can't remember the names.

    1) a genius girl haunted by some sort of flashbacks to the Holocaust; it turns out she is one of a number of clones from a brilliant scientist who was in a concentration camp. The clones are all science-orientated until they're teens at which point, more individual personalities begin to show up. The authorities consider this a failed experiment.

    2) A disease wipes out the entire adult population (everyone over 13 or 15), and the children have to figure out how to survive. I recall stuff about holing up in an old school building, managing to drive to grocery stores and warehouses, and fighting off other children. Set in a Chicago suburb.

    Thanks for the help!

  • two part Bones question??

I love the show, but wasn't able to watch it all the way from Season 1 (picked up the DVDs, though, so working on it). But I've seen some things in fan creations that I was wondering where they came from.

1--what episode has Booth lifting Bones off a hook of some kind during a rescue?

2--what's with a baby named Connor? Seen that both on YouTube montages & in some fanfic.

    Thanks so much!!

  • Is the train crowded on the Metra reverse commute?

I'm talking about the Waukegan to Chicago trip on a weekday, between 4-6pm.

(I'm going to have a suitcase with me & maybe some other bags & want to know what to expect)

  • how do you say gem(stone) or jewel in Greek?

I need to have it in the Western (English) alphabet, please. (Like karpusi is watermelon, or parakelo is please.)

I know spellings may vary & that's all right. I just want to have an idea.

    Thank you!

  • to everyone who has a senator running for President?

How do you feel about that? I'm from Illinois & am feeling rather disgruntled with Obama. I tend to forget he's even my senator; he's been running for so long. But I know there are others--Clinton, Edwards, McCain (at least I think he's still a Congressman), etc.

Do any of you feel that way towards your senators?

And please, no political bombast--no campaigning, please!

  • the name of a Christmas song--definitely not cheerful or religious?

I haven't heard this song in several years; if someone could give me at least the name, that would be great.

It's a little girl (usually a woman singing in a girly voice) about a doll she wants for Christmas. It's the usual things: wets, sleeps, says Mama; and then things get weird. The end of the song has something about she turns purple & dies when you choke her; and finishes with a threat to Santa: "You won't live to see New Year's Eve!"

    Thanks!

  • what does this name mean? Dutch/Nederlander surname?

Evenhuis. Lots of them in Gronigen, I've been told; or there were over 35 years ago. That's where my gr-gr-grandfather came from as well.

Family name has since been Anglicized & we have no idea what the original name means, if anything.

    Thanks!

  • sites for travel options?

Is there any way to compare routes & methods of travel from one place to another? Like a website that shows how to get somewhere by bus, train, or plane? I heard there might be, but no one seems sure. Thinking about going from Chicago to NW Arkansas. Please don't tell me to drive--that's not an option.

  • Latin-to-English translation?

I found this somewhere & was wondering if it's real or even "proper" Latin. Can anyone translate?
