  • Wrote a post-dated check for today for Verizon?

Yesterday I wrote a post-dated check for Verizon wireless so that my account wouldn't be interrupted. I won't be able to get to the bank until after work around 1:00pm today..is that ok? When are the checks usually cashed? I'm so afraid of the check bouncing before I put the $ in. I called Verizon & they told me to call my bank because they would be the ones to answer that question. My bank doesn't open til 9am so I'm really stressing waiting to call...

  • Terrible experience with Doctor visit today for my 4 month old?

My daughter is 4 months & 2 weeks old. Today she had her routine checkup. I mentioned to the doc that she has been fussier than usual & wasn't sure it was because of teething or an earache or something. He said she had a bit of wax & to see her ear correctly he would have to clean her ears out. He took this tiny qtip thing out & stuck it DEEP in her ears to clean out the wax. Now the bad part..when he did this my baby screamed harder & louder than I have EVER heard her do before! She had severe colic when she was 2 months old & this cry beat it by a thousand! & he just kept digging & cleaning. This cry sounded like she was in such intense pain. I actually said to him over the screaming that I have NEVER heard my baby cry like this before & could we please stop for a minute because she is clearly in extremem pain. His response was 'oh no she's fine she's just letting us know that she doesn't like us holding her head down.' I was shocked by his response. I KNOW my babys cry..it was horrible. Only a small little chunk of wax came out of one ear. He checked again with the scope & said that no she does not have an infection. I couldnt get her to stop screaming for about 20 mins. Finally in the car I nursed her & she went to sleep. She seems fine now later in the day but I am so worried that he damaged her ears. Should I do something about this? Take her to the hospital & have her ears checked? Anybody had a similar experience? Are you even supposed to use qtips on babys? I alwaysheard that they are not good to use. Pease any advice on how I should handle the situation would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

  • Do you really need to introduce Rice cereal before Stage 1 foods?

Everyone tells me to do this. I agree with giving veggies before fruit because I understand that a baby will not want to eat veggies once they taste the sweetness of fruit..but is Rice cereal really necessary? Will it hurt if I give pureed peas or squash or something first instead?

  • Just posted a question wondering how long Rice Cereal is good for after its been opened..forgot to add?

How can you tell if its gone bad? Does it smell different or taste funny? I opened a box about a month & a half ago & never used it. I've kept it closed all this time..just wondering if its still good or not. Or if there's any chance it could hurt my baby if it was bad & I didn't know it?

  • 2 month old switching to bottles?

I have nursed my newborn exclusively until this week, which I am now switching between nursing & bottle feeding.I have several anti-colic bottles that I love & my daughter latches onto all of them with no problem, & will go right back onto the breast easily. My question is, is it ok to give her 2 or 3 differant bottle types. I wonder this because I always read posts & blogs about moms having a hard time deciding which bottle to settle on, & some babies having a hard time- but my baby is perfectly fine with any nipple I put in her mouth. Is this ok, or should I just stick with one bottle type (could it cause confusion later or something)?? All opinions/advice appreciated :)

  • 26 weeks pregnant- don't feel pregnant?

I have found alot of answers on here to people with similar questions, but I really just wanted to ask straightforward to see if anyone has had my exact experiences. I am 26 weeks pregnant now and only just barely have a pregnant belly. It still looks very small for 6 months in my opinion, but my doctor says that everything is growing properly andin the right place. But I just don't feel pregnant at all- I have only felt the baby 'move' a handful of times in the past couple weeks. And the movements are so subtle it just feels like a poke on the inside. And it is all at random times. Sometimes I'll go like 3 or 4 days without feeling anything and when I do feel something it is easily mistakable because it is so subtle. I don't understand- I'm 6 months pregnant shouldn't I feel more?? I know 2 other girls, one is 2 weeks ahead of me, and one is 1 week behind me, and they both feel there babies move constantly and their stomachs are huge!! I'm just realy scared. I have this strange feeling that something is wrong, because I'm not like any other pregnant girl ive read about or seen. The doctor says all is fine, and I hear the heartbeat whenever I go in..please anyone with knowledge or experience on this tell me your thoughts. & btw this is my first baby, I am slim and tall, and I've gained about 25 pounds since the start of my pregnancy, if any of that info helps. Thanks!

  • Poor nutrition in pregnancy? Please help?

I just found out that I am 17 weeks pregnant and did not even know it. I dont ever drink, smoke, etc and am generally very healthy and hardly ever sick. My doctor said that all my bloodwork, and labs came back great and there was no problems. And they did an ultrasound and the baby looked fine, also the heart beat is perfect. But I am panicking with worry..because in 2 weeks I am having the second trimester ultrasound and they are going to check for any abnormalities or problems- I am terrified that there will be a problem because the entire time before I knew was pregnant I ate very poorly. My fiance and I were struggling with money and we could barely afford groceries. I ate fast food alot, and some nights I went without eating dinner at all. I lost alot of weight. Now that I know my family has been helping out alot and I have been eating full meals and gained 10 pounds already! haha, and taking vitamins. But I'm so scared that its too late and there are going to be some serious physical or mental defects with the baby. How much can poor nutrition contribute? Please be kind, I am already nervous enough and just want the best for my baby, please do not make any bad comments towards me. Thank you and I would appreciate any honest advice you can give!

  • Would like a boy? What are the chances?

I am 19 weeks&2days pregnant and next week at 20 weeks I am having my second trimester ultrasound. They also said they will be able to determine the gender of the baby, if it sits still long enough lol. I of course would be happy with either a boy or girl because I am just so excited to be having my first, but I do secretly desire a boy a little more. For awhile I felt that it definitely was a boy and now for the past like 2 weeks I have been having this gut feeling that it is definitely a girl. Plus, at my ultrasound at 15 weeks the sonographer said it looked like it might be a girl but she said the baby was still very small and hard to determine & was moving around ALOT, so she said she was just making a guess based on a 'lack off' "parts" lol. I would love a girl, but I feel like there is no chance of me having a boy now, because these feelings its a girl, plus my husbands brother is having a baby boy, and my best friend, and my husbands best friend are all having boys over the next couple months. What are the odds that I will too?? lol..I feel like I would be the exception if I had a girl. Let me know what you think lol.

p.s. and please, no comments on me being a bad mother or a b**** because I want a boy, I have already made it clear that I will love my child either way and will be blessed with what God has given me! :)

  • Gender of my baby appointment?

I am 15 weeks and 3 days pregnant and my doctor is not planning on doing an ultrasound to determine the sex until I am about 20 weeks. We are really anxious to find out so we and family can start buying and preparing. I have found doctors who will determine the sex between 15-17 weeks and sometimes younger (though it may not be completely accurate). But every doctor that I have found who does this is very far away either in Chicago, Texas, New York, etc. I live in NH--anybody know where I can make an appointment to determine the sex of my baby??

  • 4 months pregnant and working in retail? Questions?

I work in retail and am about 4 months pregnant. I have read many answers on this site saying that its fine to work up until 7 8 or even 9 months just as long as you dont do heavy lifting. Well my job entitles me to do heavy liftign all day long, and bending over constantly, and climbing ladders loading freight. I definitely want to keep my job and dont want to quit, but I'm nervous that when I talk to my boss he will say he has to fire me because I cannot do the job that I was hired to do, and I definitely cant lose my job right now. Please someone give advice??

Also, I generally feel fine and have not had any complications so far, but I tend to lose energy alot at work and start feeling dizzy and lightheaded from bending over so much.

  • Credit cards? cost? limit? questions? etc...?

With TD Banknorth or Ocean Banks (or I guess any other banks for that matter), does it cost money to get a credit card? Could someone please explain the process to me since I've never had one before. I know that most give you a limit of like $500 to a certain amount. I would just like some details, & figured I would ask some people online before I risk getting scammed in person at a bank lol. & please no rude comments about how I should already be up to date on credit cards. I don't like to use cards, just thinking about getting one for gas or groceries. Please only serious and kind responses! Thanks!

  • Dying my hair dark to light?

I have naturally light brown hair..I semi permanently dyed it with an at-home kit to black. I want to dye my hair blonde now. 2 Questions: 1- would it come out disgusting if i did it myself with a permanent at-home kit? or should i get it done at a salon. And 2- even if a salon did it, do you think that it is likely to come out good, or will it look gross because it is so dark right now? Please only people who have had experience with situations like this and professionals respond to this!

  • Using Semi-Permanent Hair Dye?

My hair is naturally light brown and recently I decided that I wanted to try dying my hair black cause I think that it will make my eyes stand out more. I am against getting it permanently dyed, like at a salon, because I love my natural hair and I don't want to damage it in any way...and using the semi permanent it will fade back to my original hair after many shampooings. Anyway, the problem is, I have had four people, two of them being professional stylists, that it is not wise for me to do semi permanent black because of the current color of my hair (light brown). They said that instead of it eventually washing out, it would fade to a nasty color, like greyish or some other mixture of colors and that I would regret having done it. Can anyone who has done this before or is a stylist, or has heard of anything similar please give me some advice. Total honesty please...I don't want to do something that I'll regret later on..and fyi, dont suggest doing it permanent because I won't. Thanks!
