  • Baby used to sleep 8 hours consistently, now I am lucky to get half that. Whats going on?

My daughter is now right at 4 months old. Ever since she was 6 weeks she had been sleeping all night (7 or 8hrs) all at once, not waking to feed. It was great. But starting almost a month ago she has been on a steady decline. I am lucky to get a 3 or 4 hour chunk of sleep. Like for example, last night she drank 6 oz of milk and fell asleep so I put her down. She woke at 2:30, 5:00 and 7:00. Each time, I fed her and put her back in bed, though she didn't eat much. I'm starting to wonder if she is really hungry or just wakes up and can't go back to sleep and is just using me as her paci. If that's the case, what can I do? She is breastfed but sometimes I pump and give her a bottle before bed so I am sure she is getting enough. Btw, she does not seem to be teething.

  • C section incision problems....?

I gave birth to my daughter via c-section 10 weeks ago. For some reason, my doctor made my incison about a centimeter below my pubic hairline instead of just above it. Since the hair has been growing in, because of the stitches, the hair is growing in all directions within the incision and its a little painful. Feels like something pricking my incision constantly. Also I have bad stretch marks that are very low, and the incision goes over them in one spot and the skin is stretched so thin in that spot that it often opens up a tiny bit and bleeds, tho it does not seem infected. Should I call the doc about this? I don't think they can do anything about it. Anyone have either of these problems?

  • Like a different baby.....HELP?

My daughter is a little over 8 weeks old and for the first 8 weeks she has been such a pleasure. A very quiet, easy-going baby. NEVER cried unless she was hungry. Wouldn't even cry when she had a dirty diaper or a diaper change. Always so quiet and just a joy to be around, always smiling and cooing. 2 days ago I noticed she was particularly fussy all day long. Not happy with her normal hang-out spots like the bouncy seat or her bassinet or swing. She has been like that yesterday and today also. She doesn't cry for extended periods of time but she seams really frustrated and agitated. Almost like she gets instantly bored with what she is doing and very upset. It's not like her first 8 weeks of behavior. It's like the total opposite. I'm concerned. She's not in pain or anything like that, it just seems like she is frustrated or bored......has anyone else had an experience like this with their baby? I'm worried about her. Does she just need more stimulation? Maybe some new toys? She can't really play with toys yet.

  • Worried about my newborn - is this normal?

Also my husband and I have been holding her a lot, not ignoring her by any means. We try putting her in the swing, bouncer, bassinet. She is content, looking around for a while and then she'll fuss or cry.

  • Is it normal to be leaking breast milk from only one breast?

I am 39 1/2 weeks pregnant and for several months I have been leaking colostrum, or breast milk, from my left breast. Some days it's so bad it will leak a tennis ball size spot around my left breast. The strange thing is I have never leaked any from my right breast. Is this normal? Is it possible only one of my breasts has milk??? I am hoping that it will come in on the other side and that I will be able to breast feed.

  • 38 weeks and........?

I have been told my baby is really large. She was almost 7 lbs at my ultrasound 2 weeks ago. I am a very small build (4'11"). I see 3 different doctors which is really frustrating. One doc says that he is worried I won't be able to deliver her vaginally, the other is a little worried too and says that he will do another ultrasound at 39 weeks and then we'll discuss what to do. The third doctor (fresh out of med school) says that they won't do anything for me, they are going to wait til I go into labor naturally and if I can't push her out, then they will do an emergency c-section. This terrifies me!!! Do I have any say-so in what happens? How can I make sense out of what 3 docs are telling me!? They obviously don't communicate with each other!

  • Marriage problems during pregnancy...?

My husband and I have been married 3 years and always got along great but I am 8 months pregnant now and it seems like the past few weeks we have been fighting non-stop. I can tell that I am very hormonal and emotional and I'm sure that's a big part of it. Anyone else out there in a similar situation? Does it get better or worse when the baby is born????

I need some encouragement big time! Thanks!

  • "Thinned out"....what does this mean?

I have been having intense contractions, I assume are braxton hicks, for a few days now. (I've had them for a while but not this intense) They happen especially when I lay down to sleep. They keep me awake all night. Sometimes they are accompanied by menstrual-like back aches. I went to the doctor about this and they checked my cervix and said I am not dilated but that I am way too thinned out at this point. What does this mean? Am I at risk for pre-term delivery? Will I have to be put on bed rest? Anyone else had this happen? I am 26 weeks pregnant with my first.

  • How many outfits does a baby need for each stage?

I was really blessed with a LOT of hand-me down baby clothes from a friend who had a baby the same month my baby is due. I haven't counted how many outfits for each stage I have but I'm just wondering what is a good number to have for each size, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, etc. I can't tell if I have enough or if I should look for a few more.

    Thanks!

  • 24 weeks pregnant - haven't felt baby move in a while?

I am 24 weeks pregnant tomorrow and for the past month or so I have felt my baby moving consistently every day. She is usually very active. For the past 3 or 4 days I haven't felt her moving much at all. Maybe 3 or 4 little kicks a day, whereas before I would feel them a lot more often and there were a lot of kicks at one time. I have also been having a whole lot of braxton hicks contractions lately. Should I be worried?

  • Is this preterm labor?

Lately I have been having a lot of what feels like braxton hicks contractions. Sometimes they are only 5 or 10 minutes apart. I get a lot of back aches that feel like menstrual back aches. It was happening a lot this weekend and I called my doc to ask about preterm labor and he said I need to drink more water. Well, I upped my water intake by almost double (making it about 2 liters per day) and I am still getting the bad back aches and sometimes the contractions are close together. They are not consistently every 5 or 10 minutes, I might have 2 or 3 in a row every 5 minutes but then not have another for an hour or two, etc.. Is this just normal pregnancy stuff? How would I know if I was in preterm labor?

  • Is it normal to get really down during pregnancy?

I just hit 23 weeks and I feel like I am getting depressed. It started about a week ago. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm not getting any sleep. I have a hard time sleeping anyway lately, and it doesn't help that my husband has a weird sleep disorder where he talks in his sleep and he can sleepwalk, etc. and have conversations with me and not remember a thing the next day. That is really frustrating the hell out of me and he wakes me up all the time. It's just that along with a bunch of little things. People are getting on my nerves. I had been frustrated yesterday and was crying and my mom called me and started complaining right off the bat about some people in the family and I just told her, it wasn't a good day and that I can't really deal with hearing complaints today. Well she went off on me like "Why are you in such a bad mood? You think you can't sleep now, just wait til the baby comes, it's only gonna get worse!" She was the opposite of comforting. I feel like I am at a breaking point.....Idk what to do. Do you think it's just my hormones?

  • Anyone else experienced this while pregnant....?

I am almost 21 weeks pregnant and starting a couple weeks ago I noticed that sometimes when I'm being still, usually lying down, I will feel a strange sensation that feels like the baby is moving around a lot and instantly my heart will start pounding and beating really fast. It's almost like someone injects me with a shot of adrenaline. It lasts a few minutes and then it returns to normal. It's not my heart racing because of the baby moving because I feel her move all the time and it doesn't do that, only sometimes. And when it does, the feeling of her moving is different than normal. It's like a swishing feeling or something.

Also I have Mitral Valve Prolapse. Not sure if this is related to this or not. Anyone ever had something like this before????? It's a little scary!

  • When should I tell my employer I won't be coming back after the birth?

I work for a great company right now, in a job that I like. I am almost 15 weeks pregnant with my first child. I have always wanted to be a stay at home mom and we will be fortunate enough that I can do this but my question is - WHEN should I tell my employer that I will not be coming back to work after I give birth? I want to do what is best for both myself and the company. My insurance is thru them right now so I want to make sure the birth has been covered by my insurance before I tell them, so that they don't go back and try and make me pay out of pocket somehow. BUT I don't want to use all my maternity pay knowing that I am not coming back and then quit right at the end. I don't want to burn any bridges, as I may want to try and go back there in a couple years. Any thoughts??

  • FYI- JARDINE CRIBS!!!?

If you have a Jardine crib, please make sure you check the model number on it as several of them have been recalled. The wooden slats can break and trap baby's head. I had one of these cribs and contacted Jardine and they sent me a voucher for a new crib from babies r us. Just wanted to let all you moms know because I just found out myself a couple weeks ago so be safe!!!

You can do a google search for Jardine crib recall and it will give you a site where you can apply for the voucher.

  • Baby sitting on my bladder?

I am 14weeks pregnant with my first baby. Lately it seems I can really feel the baby's presence in there. It feels like there is a softball sitting on my bladder. I always feel like I have to pee really bad but when I go, its barely anything. Also I'm already starting to not be able to sleep at night because I can't get comfortable. Is this normal this early?

I know it's not going to get any better.....

  • Anyone had successful pregnancy with IUI or IVF?

My friend has been desperately trying to get pregnant for over a year now. She has had IUI done 2 times and still nothing. She said the doc told her she can either try that again or do IVF. I think the problem is with the lining of her uterus, the embryo can't attach to it. She thinks there's no hope of having a baby. I just don't know what to tell her. Has anyone eventually had success with IUI or IVF after trying it several times with no luck?

    Thanks!

  • How do I tell my mom that I don't want her in the room when I deliver?

I tried asking this a few minutes ago but it doesn't seem to have gone through. Anyway, my mom wants to be in the delivery room with my husband and I when I deliver. I feel more like it's a private thing and I want it to just be my husband and I. I love my mom, but she would be the opposite of a big help. She would be very emotional and she would make things really awkward. How can I tell her nicely that I don't want her to be in there? Thanks!
