I don't answer much on here anymore... But I do visit it everyday and see whats going on and new in the horse section. I will usually only answer questions I see interesting... And that's usually the ones that are stared by my contacts for easy access. =) I have one horse, an 11 yr old TB gelding. I've been riding for 12 yrs non-stop. I am currently taking a break from school to work full time and save up some money to rent an apartment with my boyfriend. My parents always said it was gonna be tough once I 'grew up'....Too bad i didn't listen to them sooner.

  • HELP! VERY IMPORTANT!?

  • Have you ever...?

Have any of you had a chance to meet one of your favorite answerers on here in person? I would think the usuals or some of the other users that have been on here for a while and made friends with each other might have gotten a chance to meet one of your friends in real life.... It would be really neat, I think.

if so, were they what you imagined them to be looks wise? Did you get along? ........

Just curious... I have this listed in the horse section because I only visit here and had a strange, but good opertunity to meet someone in person that is a frequent answerer in this section... Hehehehe

  • Allergies...?

I just moved my gelding to a new barn at the beginnng of the month and I've noticed that he's been starting to get finger-tip and larger sized bumps along both his topline and underside. They show up in random places each day, somedays they're larger, somedays there are less, etc. He's never had any reactions or known allergies previous to the move the full 6 years I've had him. I'm wondering if it may be some sort of mite, fly, or bug doing this, or possibly a new allergy as I know they can develope over time. I know the only way to know for sure is to have my vet come out and take a look, but she wont be able to makeit out until Friday and I wanted to see if anyone else has had experience with this or might have any idea what it could be....

  • My gelding went down...?

I have a 10 year old Thoroughbred gelding, off the track, with an old bowed tendon. Today I was out cleaning his feet and when I was doing the opposite front from the bow, he went down to his knees. He's never done this before and I'm not sure if he simply got caught off balance or there is something more going on. After he went down I stepped away and then tried picking that foot up again and he was fine. What do you think it might be?

  • I just read a question that got me thinking...?

So as we know, basically every color is capable of having dapples, and it usually is a sign of a healthy coat and over all health of your horse... But why is it that it is most common in grey horses?

  • My mare is starting to lose a lot of weight?

I just recently bought a new horse, a 5 year old paint mare. I would say I got her about 2 weeks ago. She was a bit on the chubby side when I got her, and I did change her feed, but gradually and she was first doing fine with it. I'm not sure what could be going on with her, I know it could possibly be the change in enviornment and stress, but she is losing a LOT of weight, more than should be normal, at least in my opinion. I changed to a 12% pellet, Nutrena Compete. I have two other horses, both throughbreds and they do very well weight wise on this feed. she is also on free choice pasture and gets 5lbs of t/a hay in the morning and 5lbs at night... I am just not sure what could be causing he to lose so much wieght so quickly, and I'm worried. I know most of your responses are going to be talk to your vet, but I have and he can't find a reason for it. I'm just wondering if any of you might have an idea of what it might be? Thanks a lot guys!

  • I am curious to know what some people have to say about Parelli?

I, myself am a parelli student and have been for quite some time. I have graduated level 2 and am well into level 3, but it seems like a lot of people on here are very closed minded to the idea of Parelli, and Natural Horsemanship. I am very curious to know why these people have such a grudge against the Parelli program... I'm not sure if it's because they don't quite understand what it is, or can't get the results themselves because they haven't followed the program correctly or understand it, so they just give it up altogether and bad mouth it...If you have anything to say on this subject, I'm curious to hear about it.

  • Natural barefoot trimming and farriers?

I am really interested to learn as much as possible about natural foot care. Keeping your horse barefoot, but the natural way. I've read up a bit on it, but just what some of your opinions on whether you agree with it or not, and why. Thanks!
