  • looking for bit for soft western mare?

want to barrel race my mare but she has a soft mouth but with her current bit she's going fine, it's your standard snaffe long shank, but with this one if we barrel race she will need a bit a TAD stronger, I am able to control her with this one but for racing in a new place she will get quicker and a lot more excited so looking for one just a bit stronger just to control her a bit better. Any suggestions?

**I am looking for bit suggestions, not opinions on riding, asking another person etc.. BIT SUGGESTIONS ONLY PLEASE**

  • horse runs into jumps?

The horse I ride well she runs into standards and tries running into poles.. NOW I do not want no sarcastic/rude commets so if your tempted to write something like that feel free not to.

I took the mare I ride to a clinic and everytime we

canteredalong the rail and there was a jump near by she would try and literally run into it or cut through them. I would pull on my outside rein and push with my inside leg and she'd stull run and I had plenty of contact and she would just run for them. Help?? Nothings wrong with her ust wanna fix this habit as I'd love to show her

  • need some tips.?

The mare I ride I want to show her this coming season, she has never been shown has always been a pleasure western horse just for the family trail rides sorta thing.

Would love to take her to a english horse show (just flatting as a start to see how she'll react at a first time show) I want some tips on how to calm her down and keep her focused on the task and aids I am giving to her?

I know for a fact she will be anxious and spooky so looking for some tips? She's good on the farm but like even on the trails by her self she will get very anxious and try to run home, gets quick even when walking when naturally she is quiet lazy.

Any tips would be wonderful, I do not have a coach but will hopefully be getting one to come on property to help me with her.

  • how to get my impatient horse to stand?

I ride a mare and she will not stand for the life of her whether it's tacking up (amazing for grooming but just won't stand still for tacking and I will displine her and it does nothing)

Like for instance I will tack her up and take her into the arena walk her around a bit from the ground and then do up her cinch as she bloats and won't stop unless she moves around a bit which I don't care about doesn't bug me, but when it gets to mounting I will just lift my reins the slighest, not even budging her bit and she walks off and won't stop, won't time I tried mounting and she walked off and I couldn't pull my self up and she wouldn't stop for me

Now if she starts walking off and I disipline her and try it again and she repeats it over and over I will grab her inside rein and make her do circles and she listens great afterwards but I don't want to make that part of a riding routine, I just want her to stand still without having the urge to walk off

    any NICE tips?

  • is it just me but are there A LOT of rude equestrians?

I see on here, facebook, at barns I ride at (I go to multiple) and always see equestrians bullying other equestrians like why? Like on here if someone wants horse related vice whether it's about EQ, horse health, trust etc.. anything horse related and I see people getting bullied for it like what the actual f*uck?! For instance I posted a photo of me over a X and a girl told me "maybe your EQ will get better if you stop making excuses" like are those type of comments needed? I saw a person of facebook offering a service and just because she wasn't a certified vet but knows how to do it well and does it to her own horses she got bullied by loads of people.

Why are there so many rude equestrians holy crap! We are all here to enjoy the sport, have fun with it and just get to experience the great joy of riding a horse theres no need to be rude to each other.

    Does anybody else agree?!

  • Any ideas on how to braid a long mane for a english show?

Going to be entering either a gelding or mare into a english flat class and they both have long manes and I used to ride at the barn I wanna show at and they don't like long manes in a show and I don't plan on asking the owner if I can cut their horses hair just for 2 shows.

Any ideas on a braid to do? I can do a running braid but it doesn' stay in.

  • How to get my horse to come to me in the field?

I am now working with two horses at a farm, these horses have two rather big fields one dirt, one is a field both attached to each other. I will call this horse over and over and over and I will cluck, wave grass in the air, whistle (owner does it to get her to come does nothing for me though) I have been with this barn for a while (I'd say almost a month) and this horse RUNS from me in the paddock that or if I call/whisle/cluck/wave food in the air she picks her head up and looks at me then pins her ears and continues eating (don't I feel loved lmao)

I have played around with her in the arena, she loves attention just doesn't like leaving the food, she is in a herd with about 10 horses including her. Not even kidding EVERY single horse will come to me just even see me come to the gate and open it I will see everyone come then I ask my self if I see my mare coming and NOPE. She is WAAAAAAAY in the grass field as far as the gate as she can get and stuffing her face like no tomorrow :/

Can someone give me some tips on how to get her to start coming when called (please do not tell me to bring treats in the pastures there are 18H drafts in there so don't feel like being surounded by those big guys..and plus it is not allowed)

  • Good excersizes to put on muscle and lose weight...?

Want to do gaming on a QH next year, she isn't ridden by well riders she is ridden by a little girl and can't control her well so I have be given a chance to ride her and just have fun on her etc... she has some chub on her and want to get rid of that so she doesn't get even more fat when winter comes as there is no indoor.

I know trotting up hills gives them good muscles in their front but are there any others? Want this horse to look good, not fat and chubby :)

Let me know! Changing her feed/moving her is not a possibility she is out 24/7
